Author POV:
"Then let's go."
Giyu silently followed the butterfly pillar as she raced into the woods. Little did she know, the water pillar's katana was lying somewhere lost in the forests.
"There." Shinobu stopped running and pointed. Standing regally in a clearing, eyeing his dead family, was a demon with the Twelve Kizuki symbol engraved into his eye- Lower Five.
Sensing the two pillars, the demon slowly turned to face the pair. Shinobu, smiling and looking eerie- Giyu, looking blank and broken.
"Ara ara~ Look who we have here!" Shinobu grinned, "Lower Five! I haven't seen one of the Twelve Kizuki in so long, you wouldn't believe it."
"You disturbed my family." Rui's blood-red eyes narrowed. "Filthy Hashiras."
Shinobu wasted no more time and stuck out, unsheathing her katana and leaping towards the demon. Rui didn't look panicked at all and unleashed his deadly strands, which Shinobu easily dodged.
Rui gritted his teeth and backed away as his hands shot more webs. Shinobu only advanced quicker, not a single strand touching her.
"You really are a pillar." Rui remarked, "But I've heard rumours about you. You're the weak one, right? Can't even decipate a demon. But your poison makes up for it."
"Ara~ Is that right?" Shinobu smiled as her vein popped out and she got closer, barely an inch away from injecting the wisteria poison in Rui. But the spider demon leapt into the air neatly and released flaming red strands.
Giyu didn't move.
As Shinobu jumped around and dodged the strands, she was starting to feel a strange emptiness.
"Tomioka-san?" Shinobu turned around to find Giyu and accidentally received a nasty cut from a thread.
"Yes..?"
"Why aren't you... um, helping me?!" Shinobu smiled, angry.
"I.. lost my katana."
"WHAT?! HOW?!"
"While I was fighting.. the other demon.."
"How could you be so careless?!"
Giyu didn't bother responding.
To be truthful, he didn't rememember how he lost his sword. It just wasn't in his hands. Maybe he'd dropped it somewhere?
"Ugh.. in all my years, never have I heard of a Hashira who lost his sword," Shinobu rolled her eyes, "Guess I'll have to take care of this one by myself."
Usually the water pillar would have felt bad for making Shinobu do all the work by herself, but now he just felt numb.
"Two pillars..." Rui mused, "Won't Master Muzan be pleased if I killed you both. I might get moved up."
"Good luck with that." Shinobu smiled, turning her attention away from Giyu and focusing onto Rui.
As Shinobu and Rui fought, Giyu slowly backed away into the shadows and tore off in search of Himari.
Giyu POV:
I frantically scoured the forest for Himari. Judging from her wounds from before, it could be fatal if not treated properly. Had Shinobu called for the Kazukis yet?
I kept coming across groups of wounded, controlled Slayers but not Himari.
Oh, why hadn't I come here yesterday? Just a little bit sooner and I could have saved her.
I always fail to protect the ones I love.
It was always like that. No matter how hard I trained, I wouldn't be good enough.
But that could change. If I could find Himari now and save her, it might make up for my negligence..
Please be alive, Himari.
Please don't leave me all alone again.
