Y/n wasn't the nicest kid, to be honest.
She got that from her Mother. They're both menaces.
She would get into fights with other children her age, sometimes even adults, and it only got worse after her little brothers were born.
To be honest, I think the oldest twin had been influenced by his sister's foul mouth and mean streak.
Nobody was safe, aside from her family.
The demon that had encountered the sassy little y/n at the base of the mountain all those years ago certainly wasn't safe either.
"What're you looking at, creep?"
"So what if I'm human? At least I don't look like a spider! And quit looking at me, do me a favor and close at least two pairs of your eyes, will you?"
"You're a 💩 actor. Even after centuries of being alive, you don't have talents or hobbies? Sucks to be you."
"Put a lid on it, old man, you're creaking."
"Eat 💩, you demon 🚚."
"I'll bite you, ♀🐶."
"When I'm older and stronger, I'll kill you for that one. Mark my words, I'll be the one to behead you!"
What a surprise, an Upper Moon having his feeling hurt by a five year old child on a daily basis.
Really, the little girl reminded him of his own daughter who never got to watch grow up but that isn't really the point.
Y/n is fierce by nature but time and misfortune as mellowed her down to the awkward and apologetic bean we see now. Glimpses of her true self pop up occasionally when she fights, but now?
Nezuko and those demons were getting to see y/n's true personality first hand. Up close and personal.
It was never really gone.
Just lying in wait.
'Sekido, Urogi and Karaku. Those are their names.' y/n thought as her blade cut through the wings of the demon called Urogi, 'I could handle all three but I should probably handle this one first.'
She shifted easily into another stance as the winged demon fell, her breathing changing in pattern in an instant.
Moon Breathing, Seventh Form
The h/c haired young lady was practically a blur as she sliced up the winged demon's face into several pieces, the pieces falling.
Mirror of Misfortune - Moonlit
'Now for the ones going after Nezuko and Tanjiro.' she turned, beginning to run but noticed from the corner of her eyes that the many little pieces of the demon's head had grown mouths.
Her eyes widened a little bit and she was hit with several of those damned sound beams. Her head was ringing and the noise filled her senses bit she found that it wasn't that painful.
"Ha!" she laughed as what was left of her mask finally cracked and shattered to small pieces of wood, "Quit your incessant screeching, will you? You're giving me a headache, small fry."
Despite her words of annoyance, y/n was grinning and there was an unusually delighted look in her e/c eyes.
Moon Breathing, Eleventh Form
Syzygy
Y/n was quick and precise with her movements, slicing up the small bits of the demon's head with two slashes. Her actions were almost too quick for the demon to see as he found that his head was now left in pieces the size of rice grains.
Damn. She really rocked his 💩.
The h/c haired girl turned her head and caught sight of Tanjiro cutting down the other two demons, letting out a quiet yes! when he successfully decapitated all of them.
There was one more, wasn't there?
Both y/n and Tanjiro turned their heads in time to see Genya. He'd taken off the head of the last demon!
Y/n and Tanjiro were about to cheer but their voices caught in their throats when Genya looked back at them, looking like a whole demon. Bro had fangs and everything.
Scary.
'Genya...?' Tanjiro looked puzzled.
'So cool!' y/n thought, her surprised expression melting into one of glee and excitement.
Oh yeah, the decapitated demons were screeching like babies. Honestly. But, they just had their heads cut off soooo
It's understandable.
"Y/n, there's a fifth body!" Tanjiro told the girl as they rushed over to free Nezuko from the rubble she'd been trapped under while y/n was busy handling the winged demon, "We need to find it and cut its head off before the others can regenerate!"
"Fifth body?" y/n echoed as she lifted a rather large piece of debris, allowing Nezuko to crawl out and hug her brother, "Alright, I can sort of sense it but its weak. You'll have to show me the way."
Before y/n and Tanjiro could run off, Genya actually grabbed the burgundy haired boy by the throat with a, "Don't push your luck...! I'll... I'll be the one to beat the Upper Moon and become a Hashira!"
"Genya, you okay?" y/n inquired, "You're panting a lot. Wheezing a bit too. Do you need to sit down?"
"You're drooling too!" Tanjiro pointed out, "But hey, if you wanna be a Hashira, Nezuko and I will do our best to help you out!"
"Me too!" y/n added, "Then we can eat lots of watermelon together, okay? I'll pay for it all!"
"First, we need to find that fifth demon." Tanjiro reminded them, "Y/n and I will go search for it so we just need you to buy us some time, Genya!"
"Cut that out, you're just trying to throw me off my-!"
Genya stopped, noticing the pure innocence in Tanjiro's eyes as well as the warm smile on y/n's face.
Oh. They were being honest.
"Watch out!" Tanjiro warmed as several bolts of lightning rained down, nearly zapping the small group.
Y/n bit back a hiss of pain when her calf was hit but didn't stop moving her and Tanjiro took off into opposite directions to avoid being sniped.
"We'll let you know right away when we find the fifth body!" Tanjiro called, "Just be sure not to cut off Nezuko's head, she's my little sister!"
Y/n ended up leaving the group to find the demon quicker. As y/n ran, she listened and watched and did everything she could to at least find it.
It was when y/n heard a small voice and her e/c eyes fell upon a bush where an itty bitty demon sat, a rather scary looking grin settling on her face.
"Found you, piece of 💩."
"Genya! Head straight northeast!" Tanjiro called, finding the demon's scent right after y/n noticed it, "The fifth body is hiding somewhere close to the ground! Go, I'll cover you!"
Genya did as he was told, heading northeast and then moving south when Tanjiro shouted the orders.
He looked up, finding y/n in a tree and looked down again when she pointed to the spot in front of him.
There was the fifth body. Smol and vewy harmless.
The thing let out an "EEK!" when Genya spotted it,
'🚚ing tiny!!!'
Yeah, kill it.
He tried shooting at the demon but missed, the tiny upper moon turning and running away immediately.
Y/n, still perched in the tree, perked up and hopped down in time to push Genya forward so that the sudden gust of wind wouldn't hit him.
The h/c haired girl was flung into the air along with trees that had been destroyed by the demon who held the uchiwa.
"Damn it...! This is the second time!" y/n scoffed then shouted, "Get him, Genya! Cut off his head!"
Genya didn't have time to see where y/n flew off to, immediately focusing on the smol demon once more.
Y/n bit back a scream as she rapidly neared the ground, focusing on a tree branch. When she was close enough, she grabbed it and choked on air when her 🚚ing arm popped.
She hit the ground hard, cursing, but got right back up and ran to go help with the battle. DAMN everything hurt-! But she couldn't stop now!

There's another Upper Moon. Gyokko, Upper Moon Five. He also came to the Swordsmith village to start some 💩 and encountered Muichiro, Kotetsu and Kanamori along the way.
The ugly 🍑 demon managed to trap Muichiro in a weird vase of some kind which was very resistant and didn't break even when the Hashira used his techniques on it.
So basically... he was trapped.
Without air since the vase was filled with water.
The demon could've murked the kid himself but he was too busy trying to find a way to break Haganezuka's concentration. Petty mf.
It didn't work, even after he literally cut the dude's eye. That's some serious dedication right there.
This irritated Gyokko so he was wasting time trying to break the Swordsmith's concentration before killing him.
Which allowed little Kotetsu to run over to Muichiro and try stabbing the weird vase with a knife in order to get the unbothered Hashira out.
"You can't die, damn it! Come on, Tokito-san!" Kotetsu cried as he stabbed the vase, "Don't worry, I'll save you! Damn it, what is this weird 💩?!"
The little boy was so focused on saving the Hashira that he didn't notice another one of those weird fish things coming up behind him.
'Behind you! Look out!' Muichiro thought just as the fish thing attacked the little boy, cutting him tf up.
He wasn't dead since it was only a couple of cuts but he stumbled back, startled by the fish's sudden arrival.
'What the hell are you doing?!' Muichiro shouted internally, eyes wide as the injured boy hurried back over to the vase, 'Run away, it'll kill you!'
The fish went to attack him again but its attack hit the blur of black fur which threw itself in the fish's path.
It was a cat. Not just any cat.
'Shiori!' Muichiro stared in dismay when the little feline hissed at the fish creature despite the fatal wound which she had received on her side.
It wasn't too deep but Shiori would die of blood loss if the wound wasn't tended to as soon as possible.
"I get that goldfish are supposed to smile back at you but seriously?! Attacking is way too much!" the cat snapped, "Hey! Kotetsu kid! Breathe into the vase thingy so you can give the little 💩 some air!!!"
"Right!" Kotetsu exclaimed, lifting his mask and did as the cat instructed while Shiori 🚚ing head butted the fish.
As Muichiro watched Kotetsu snatch up Shiori and run away from the fish with the bleeding cat, the Hashira remembered a little something.
Plot armor.
"Helping others can end up helping you in the future. People are living creatures who can draw out incredible strength for the sake of others, Muichiro.'
Mist Breathing, Second Form
'Yeah. I know.'
Layered Mist
With the air Kotetsu managed to give to Muichiro, the Hashira was able to free himself from the vase.
He was out! As he took in fresh air, Muichiro heard Shiori cheering in between bloody fits of coughing.
The young Hashira coughed violently as he pulled needles from his face, the ones that he'd been hit with earlier while trying to protect Kotetsu and Kanamori.
My Father was a woodcutter and I, his son, would help him cut down trees.
"Kelphead!" Shiori exclaimed as the Muichiro went to check on her and Kotetsu, "Don't go giving up like that, damn it! Y/n would've been devastated if you died!"
"Y/n?" Muichiro echoed but didn't ask his question, cutting down the murder fish from earlier before it could attack them again.
"Don't die, you damn cat!" Kotetsu was crying as he shook Shiori, the feline seeming sleepy, "Don't close your eyes! Don't you dare close your eyes!"
"Don't tell me what to do, brat. I can die if I want!"
Mom caught a cold and it eventually turned to bronchitis. She died later on because of it.
It was stormy when my Dad went out to get some herbs to help her get better. He fell off a cliff and died.
"Tokito-san! Go help Haganezuka-san!" Kotetsu said as he repeatedly poked Shiori to keep her awake, "I'll try to keep y/n-san's land crow from dying!"
Land crow-
My parents died when I was ten.
I was alone at the age of ten.
'No, that's not right.'
I was alone at the age of eleven.
I had a twin and an older sister.
My older brother was named Yuichiro
And my older sister was named Y/n.
The memories came back, the mist in Muichiro's mind slowly beginning to clear as he remembered.
"Compassion is useless. No matter what you do for others, it won't do any good for you." Yuichiro said as the three siblings were returning home with wood.
The two youngest of the siblings trailed after their once strongwilled sister who had become a bit more quiet after the deaths of their parents.
She seemed to be in deep thought but had clearly heard Yuichiro's words and spoke a simple, "Yuichiro."
A warning.
"Doing good for others will come back to help you." Muichiro pointed out, "That's what Dad said."
"The words of a dead man who died trying to help others are useless." Yuichiro replied coldly.
"Why are you saying that?" Muichiro questioned, "Dad was trying to help Mom get better..."
"The herbs didn't cure her even when Nee-san brought them back. The sickness had gotten worse." Yuichiro replied, "It was just dumb."
"You're so mean, Nii-san." Muichiro murmured.
"If he hadn't gone out in that storm, only Mom would've died." Yuichiro stated.
"Don't say stuff like that! You're being too harsh!" Muichiro cried, tears in his eyes.
"It's the truth." Yuichiro scoffed, "You're being too loud so shut up, will you? The 'Mu' in 'Muichiro' is the 'In' in 'ineffective'."
(Somebody made a comment on Yuichiro's insult and I wish I 🚚ing took a screenshot, it wa hilarious)
Y/n suddenly stopped walking.
She slowly turned her head and both boys readied themselves for the scolding they'd usually get for saying mean things.
Rather then a sharp tone, an ice cold glare and a small frown, they got a simple stare. They'd never seen their older sister so broken and worn out.
Her e/c eyes had lost their light and her usual solemn yet warm expression was blank and almost hopeless.
"Yu-chan... do you really believe that?" she questioned in a quiet tone, disbelief in her voice.
Yuichiro opened his mouth but no words came out as y/n sighed heavily and turned to her brothers.
She crouched to their level, setting down the wood she'd been carrying and gesturing for both boys to come.
They obeyed, shuffling closer to their sister who rested a hand on each of their heads with a weak smile.
"Please, don't say things like that. We're all that each other has left so we can't go pushing one another away." she murmured, "Okay, you two?"
Yuichiro nodded, remaining quiet and failed to fight back a smile when y/n ruffled his hair. Muichiro's eyes welled up with tears as he hugged his sister by her waist, the girl patting his head as well.
Our sister was only thirteen but she matured quickly and did everything she could to make sure we would all survive together.
Both her and my brother were straightforward but our sister was a bit less brutal. It always seemed like my brother hated me.
I was really glad my sister was still there with us. Even if she was different from the older sister we once knew.
When spring came, someone had come to visit us. Oyakata-sama's wife. She was very pretty and at first, I'd mistaken her for a spirit of a white birch.
However... my older brother ended up yelling at her and chasing Amane-sama away.
"Nee-chan, she said that we're descendants of swordsmen!" Muichiro exclaimed as y/n and Yuichiro were preparing dinner together.
The h/c haired girl smiled, "Is that so, Mui?"
"Uh-huh! And apparently, we're super amazing people who can use the first ever breath style!" Muichiro continued, "Isn't that cool?"
"Hehe, very cool." y/n agreed and pat Muichiro's head, "Could you go get the rice for us?"
"Mhm!" the boy was quick to hurry away but returned just as quickly with what he'd been sent to get, "Hey, Nee-san, maybe we could all be swordsmen! You're already training to be one, aren't you?"
Y/n nodded, "I am but you'll have to find a different teacher. Ko-chan seems to be pretty annoyed with me at the moment, haha."
"So that's a yes then?" Muichiro gasped with sparkling eyes, "All three of us can save people from demons together, right? I'm sure we-"
Yuichiro abruptly slammed the knife he held down in the vegetables he'd been cutting.
Both Muichiro and y/n watched as he furiously slammed the knife down a couple more times, drowning out the rest of the youngest sibling's words.
"Are you saying you can do something?" Yuichiro demanded, "Can some weakling who can't even cook rice alone become a swordsmen? Can they even save anyone? Stop spouting nonsense, you're just like Mom and Dad!"
"Yuichiro!" y/n snapped, "Don't say that!"
"And you!" Yuichiro glared up at his older sister, "What can you do? You couldn't even keep Dad safe like you said you would! In fact, you're the reason he died!"
Y/n stared at her brother in silence, her voice caught in her throat as she seemed to freeze.
He wasn't wrong. Y/n had almost been killed when she ran out to help their Father find that herb they needed. Had her Dad not pulled her back, she would've been the one who fell over the edge. Not him.
Y/n was well aware that it was her fault.
"Saving people is something only chosen people can do. You think we can do something just because some of our ancestors were swordsmen?" Yuichiro continued, "Look at Nee-san, she's practically wrapped head to toe in bandages from the training she's been doing to become a swordsman! She's too weak to do much of anything and too pathetic to accept it!"
Muichiro glanced at his older sister's red tinted bandages which covered almost every area of her body beneath her jaw. Both in spots that were visible and spots covered by her clothes.
"Want to hear what we can do? Here's what we can do! Die out there like dogs because we're our parents' kids!" Yuichiro shouted.
That was it.
Y/n's patience snapped and she grabbed her younger brother by the front of his yukata, ignoring Muichiro's protests.
"Don't talk about Mom and Dad like that!!! Don't speak to Muichiro in such a cruel way either!! He's your little brother, our little brother!" she said in a low tone though her voice was still loud, "You're going too far!"
"I'm telling him the truth instead of giving him false hope like you have!!!" Yuichiro retorted, "If anything, you're doing the opposite of protecting him!"
Y/n stared at her brother, that fire which she seemed to have lost briefly returning but let him go after that with a small sigh, quietly announcing that she was leaving for training again.
Muichiro was left disheartened after his sister left, watching her leave their home with sad eyes.
After that, my brother just stopped talking to my sister and I. Amane-sama kept coming to visit us.
My brother poured water on her once and we ended up fighting. Our sister got us to stop but started leaving the house more and more.
Summer came. It was very hot that year.
My brother and I were really mad at each other and our sister started coming home with worse injuries than she used to.
But she didn't stop leaving to go train.
One night, while she was out and we were sleeping, a demon came into the house and attacked us.
Muichiro stared up at the demon with wide eyes, trembling slightly as he held his injured twin.
Yuichiro's arm had been cut off. Muichiro was sure that y/n had taught them something. Something about stopping the bleeding but he could hardly think nor could he move.
"Shut up, stop talking." the demon had said, "You people are just woodcutters. You can't do anything for anyone. Your lives are worthless."
Where was y/n? Why wasn't y/n there?
Had she been killed? Had this demon killed her?
"Nee-chan... where is she?" Muichiro whispered.
The demon tilted its head, "You mean the little girl with the e/c eyes? I was pretty sure I saw her about to be eaten on my way here. Bah, what a shame. I'm sure she was tasty too."
For the first time in my life, I felt something. Something bubbling up from the out of my stomach.
It was an intense anger.
I actually can't remember what happened after that. I'd never thought I could shout as fiercely as I did.
When I came to my senses, the demon was near death. Even though its head had been crushed, it was still struggling. As though it couldn't die.
But the sun came up and it turned to dust. I didn't care. All I wanted to do was go to my brother. But my body felt so heavy.
"Muichiro!"
Muichiro recognized that voice and stopped crawling towards his house with a, "Nee-san...?"
Y/n collapsed beside her brother, helping him sit up as she stared at his injuries in horror, "Muichiro! No, no, no, I should've been here...!"
"You're alive..." Muichiro murmured, eyes welling up with tears, "That's... that's a relief..."
His sister looked as if she could faint at any moment.
Her clothes were torn and soaked with her own blood, the awful gashes and wounds just barely visible beneath all of the crimson.
"Where's Yuichiro?" y/n demanded and followed her younger brother's gaze for her answer.
Muichiro felt his sister lift him up and the short run back to the house felt like an eternity as the pain from his injuries finally began to kick in.
Y/n worked quickly, doing her best to stop the bleeding before moving on to Yuichiro.
She murmured the words 'stay alive' under her breath as she tried to help her dying brother but she'd taken too long. He'd been bleeding out the entire evening.
In the end, all she could do was hold both of her brothers and cry. Cry and spout empty promises of how everything was going to be okay.
Y/n held both of her brothers' hands, her own body growing weaker as she begged that someone... anyone would at least save her brothers.
"Dear gods... Buddha..." Yuichiro whispered, "Please just... spare my brother and sister..."
"Yu-chan..." y/n could only say that much.
"Un...like me, they're both very nice... they wanna be useful but I... got in their way." Yuichiro continued, "Nee-san isn't weak at all, nor is she pathetic. Both my little brother and her strong... brave and really kind..."
"And I knew the truth the entire time... the 'Mu' in 'Muichiro' is the 'In' in 'Infinity'"
