Curiosity_Naivety

Y/n's eyes were trained on the ground as she wandered, a smile upon her face behind what was left of her oni mask.

Shiori was ahead of her, loudly singing as the two of them walked together. They were on their way to see y/n's swordsmith, having been notified that her sword was completed.

Of course, y/n wasn't completely unarmed.

Asakawa, her swordsmith, was very motherly and always made sure y/n had a weapon to use aside from her fists. She had made y/n a tantō to protect herself.

It was made of the same metal as nichirin blades and had changed to the same light purple as y/n's sword because of it. Y/n wasn't sure what the woman had done but in addition to soaking up a lot of sunlight, the blade was laced with lethal amounts of wisteria.

The hyotokko donning woman was the wife of y/n's old swordsmith who had died of an illness the previous year. She had taken over as y/n's swordsmith despite not knowing much. However, the couple saw y/n as their grandchild and Asakawa learned quickly to help y/n as much as possible.

The h/c haired girl was grateful for that.

"His dick smaller than my toes! I'd rather ride Squidward nose!" Shiori sang, "Y/n, your turn!"

"I'm not sure if it's-"

"SING!"

Y/n shed a single tear, "My eyelash flew off... when I saw that dick was too soft..."

"What the 🚚?"

"Need a dick like Rick Ross— is this appropriate?"

"Of course not!" Shiori cackled, "But it's real catchy, isn't it? It must be stuck in your brain now!"

Y/n sweatdropped, "Any song would get stuck in your head if you had to hear it non stop for the past week."

"Hehe, would you prefer another one?" Shiori questioned, "I'll be nice and let you pick!"

"Mm..." y/n looked thoughtful, "What was that one that talks about taking your face off or something?"

Shiori gasped, "Face off!"

"Yeah, that's it!"

As the duo were singing at the tops of their lungs, y/n became aware of something off as they neared Asakawa's little workshop.

The woman used to sew a lot. She liked peace and quiet when she worked so her husband had built her a little shed.

Now, she forged y/n's weapons there.

Y/n paused as Shiori was going ham on the rapping piece, the cat completely distracted and unaware of y/n's odd behavior.

'What's that noise?' she wondered, hearing a strange noise nearby in addition to rustling of bushes, 'Is that...!'

She tuned out Shiori's singing, trying to focus.
Focus... focus....

There was a scream far off and y/n's eyes flashed.

'Asakawa-san!'

"IT'S ABOUT DRIVE, IT'S ABOUT POWER, WE STAY HUNGRY, WE DEVOUR- hey! Y/n!" Shiori shouted when the girl scooped her up and starting sprinting, "What's the big idea?!"

"It's Asakawa-san, she's in danger!" y/n told the cat, before hopping up into a tree and placing the cat on a branch, "Stay here. Only leave and find me if you're in danger."

"Huh? Y/n!" Shiori protested but y/n was gone, the wind whooshing as she pushed off and disappeared.

Y/n's eyes were fixated ahead as her surroundings blurred, getting closer and closer to Asakawa.

She hoped that the woman was okay. Sure, she was strong due to all the swords she had forged but she was still an old woman who would be vulnerable against a demon.

"Please be safe." y/n murmured, "Please...!"

Just as the little wooden shed came into view, y/n let out a breath of relief at the sight of it still intact.

However, her heart dropped in her chest when Asakawa stumbled into view. She was hugging a sheathed sword tightly, the left side of her mask broken.

She was bleeding from the head and blood soaked her clothing. Y/n could see panic and fear in the elderly woman's one visible light brown eye.

"Asakawa-san!" y/n exclaimed and the swordsmith looked at her in surprise.

"Y/n!" she shouted and ran to her.

For an old lady, Asakawa moved well. Perhaps it was the adrenaline, considering she was being chased by a bunch of strange looking and very ugly fish.

The things made odd noises as they chased the elderly lady but the noises ceased as y/n slashed the pots upon their backs with her small blade.

As the creatures turned to dust, she knelt beside Asakawa as the old woman tried to recover.

"Asakawa-san, where are you hurt?" y/n demanded as she checked the exhausted old woman for serious injuries.

"Just a couple of cuts, dear." Asakawa assured y/n then offered her the blade which had been recently forged, "Here, I saw a bunch of these things making their way over to where that boy Haganezuka is."

"That's Tanjiro's swordsmith." y/n murmured but shook her head, lifting Askawa, "Let me take you somewhere safe first."

Asakawa didn't protest, too tired as y/n picked her up and started to run in search of a safe spot for the old lady.

Before long, y/n found a group of swordsmiths that took Asakawa from her so she could go search for any other demons that could be around the village.

She was nearing the village rapidly, part of her wondering if Shiori had actually listened and stayed in the tree.

Y/n was getting an odd feeling of deja vu. From that day all those years ago. She remembered bleeding heavily.

She clearly remembered the demon who had been drawn to the scent of her blood as she was rushing home.

Y/n remembered all of it and it made her blood boil with rage as she got closer and closer to her destination.

As usual, life had others plans.

Y/n had a sudden feeling of dread and the world seemed to slow as she caught a glimpse of something to her left. Something was going to hit her. There was no avoiding it.

All she could do was brace for impact and...!

"OW, 💩!!!" y/n shouted when she was hit in the side, the force sending her flying and slamming into a tree.

There was a loud ringing noise in her ears as she struggled to recover, shakily reaching for her sword.

She could feel blood rolling down her face and her back was aching but she wasn't dead. That was enough.

But to be caught off guard like that-

"Well, would you look at that!" an excited voice exclaimed as demon came into view, "You demon slayers are all over the village, aren't ya?"

"You're in my way." y/n grumbled as she got back to her feet and took a good look at her opponent, "Move."

His eyes were marked with the kanji for Upper Rank Four but she had a feeling that something wasn't right. There was also the kanji for 'relaxed' etched on his tongue and he held a maple leaf shaped uchiwa.

That was what hit her. Or, at least, something that had come from it. Y/n wasn't quite sure since she only saw it from the corner of her eye.

"In a hurry? I'm sure you could spare a couple of minutes-!" the demon stopped talking as soon as y/n cleared the distance between them in a flash, her sword at his throat.

Wind Breathing, First Form
Dust Whirlwind Cutter

The demon's grin did not fade as he raised the uchiwa and swung. Y/n raised her sword, a gasp slipping out of her as the concussive force returned again and she was sent flying through the trees.

Y/n was in the open air for a bit, shifting her position so that she rolled upon impact with a building rather than just smacking against it.

The h/c haired girl was immediately up despite her head spinning and was quick to observe her surroundings.

Tanjiro and Nezuko were there along with another demon which also had Upper Rank Four engraved in his eyes. He was similar to the one from before but was quite literally on fire and had the kanji for 'anger' on his tongue.

Was this situation perhaps similar to the one back at the Red Light District with Daki and Gyuutaro?

'No.' y/n thought as the demon from earlier hopped up into the sky from out of the forest, swinging that damned uchiwa again, 'There's more of them this time.'

The extreme pressure came next, forcing the trio against the floor as the building gave way and floor crumbled beneath them.

'Move! Move, damn it!' y/n shouted at herself, trembling as she tried to push back against the overwhelming force, 'Get up and fight, idiot!'

Hopeless, it was all hopeless. And the lingering pain from her injuries wasn't helping.

'I'm still hopeless.' y/n thought as her consciousness finally got snatched like a weave by plot time.

"Nee-san! Hey! Nee-san!"

Y/n was laying in the snow, staring up at the sky with a somewhat blank expression on her face.

Her brother was beside her, glaring down at her with mint colored eyes, "Come on, get up! Don't just lay there, get up and fight!"

"Hmph! For the last time, Yu-chan..." y/n grumbled.

A hand shot up from all the rubble and grabbed the demon holding the uchiwa, startling him.

Suddenly, a blade was forced out and thrusted into his throat out of nowhere. Y/n emerged from the debris next, one eye shut to keep blood out of it while the other practically burned with rage.

"Give me a 🚚ing break already!!!!" she shouted, using her free hand to punch the poor dude in the balls.

I get that he's a demon but you can't escape the pain of being punched in the balls, even as a supernatural being.

Nezuko looked back at y/n in surprise, a very much unconscious Tanjiro tucked under her arm as the irritated tsuguko joined her.

There were three of the Upper Rank Four demons now. The relaxed on, the angry one and another that wad supposedly joyful.

"Tch, stop running the 🚚 away!!!" the angry one roared, raising the khakkhara he held.

"Running away?" y/n echoed, "Don't make me laugh! In a few minutes, you'll be the ones running away like dogs!"

'Wtf is this sudden change in personality?' Nezuko wondered with a lil frown as y/n grinned back at her.

"I've got your back, Nezuko!" the h/c haired girl exclaimed and the demon girl nodded once, "I'll chop these 🍑holes to bits!"
