"Who would’ve guessed we all had broken ribs…"
Zenitsu groaned dramatically, sprawled out on the tatami like a wet noodle left to dry. His limbs dangled everywhere, his eyes glazed like his soul had left his body.
"This hurts worse than my ribs," Inosuke growled, rubbing his head where Tanjiro had skull-bashed him earlier with that lethal forehead.
Tanjiro gave a sheepish smile, looking way too innocent for someone who just used his skull as a blunt weapon. "Sorry…"
"Sorry?!" Zenitsu whined from the floor, rolling halfway onto his side like he was staging his own funeral.
You sat cross-legged nearby, methodically wrapping a bandage around your arm. You didn’t say anything, just hummed to yourself, quietly watching the chaos unfold like it was a live-action comedy show.
"Inosuke, you should apologize to us too," Tanjiro said with surprising firmness. "You beat us up like we owed you money!"
"Sorry, minion," Inosuke huffed, though his tone had zero remorse. If anything, he sounded proud.
Zenitsu suddenly shot up with the speed of a man possessed. "What about me?! I got my ass kicked too! I deserve an apology!"
"Not sorry," Inosuke answered instantly, no hesitation.
Tanjiro sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Just say you’re sorry, Inosuke."
Inosuke whipped his head around, glaring. "WHAT?!"
Before the argument could explode again, Zenitsu’s tone dropped. His voice was sharper now, unusually serious. His golden eyes narrowed as he looked at Tanjiro.
"Since no one’s gonna ask… why are you carrying around a demon?"
The air shifted.
Even Inosuke’s yelling died off.
Your hands froze mid-wrap, eyes flicking up toward Tanjiro.
"You knew?" Tanjiro asked, genuinely surprised. His shoulders tensed but his eyes softened. "And you still helped us?"
Zenitsu glanced away, scratching his head nervously. "W-Well… yeah. I mean Y/N was helping you too, and she’s uh…" His gaze flicked toward you, and his entire face ignited red. "She’s cool and pretty and, uh… confident or whatever!"
You raised a brow, lips twitching. Smooth. Real smooth.
Tanjiro smiled gently at him, warmth radiating from his voice. "You’re kind, Zenitsu. Really."
Zenitsu made a strangled, inhuman noise before collapsing backward in a dramatic heap. "Eheheh no I’m not~~ don’t say nice things to meee~~"
While they kept bickering, your thoughts began to drift, your gaze slipping toward the box
Come onnn, I need to see the queen!
A quiet voice in your head whispered back, amused. Patience, dear.

The wooden box creaked open slowly, the sound echoing through the quiet room.
And all hell broke loose.
Zenitsu screamed like a toddler spotting a cockroach. He instantly bolted behind you, clutching your shoulders like you were his human shield.
"ANGEL-CHAN, HELP ME, IT’S GONNA EAT ME!"
You didn’t even flinch. Calmly, you stepped forward instead, kneeling to help Nezuko gently push the box open.
The small girl inside blinked up at you, her soft pink eyes glowing like lanterns in the dim light.
Your chest warmed. "Awww, you look so cute." You reached out and patted her head gently.
Nezuko hummed quietly, almost like a cat purring, then leaned into your touch with surprising trust.
Zenitsu, meanwhile, was on the verge of collapsing. His brain short-circuited at the sight of you and Nezuko.
Ehhhhh?! Angel AND a cutie?! This is too much! I’m not strong enough for this!
His gaze snapped to Tanjiro, shaking with jealousy.
"Tanjiro…"
Tanjiro blinked, wary. "Z-Zenitsu?"
Zenitsu’s entire aura combusted. "HOW DARE YOU?! You’re traveling with a CUTE DEMON and Y/N-CHAN?! Y/N-CHAN-A LITERAL ANGEL. NO A DIVINE DEITY?! WHAT THE HELL?! I SHED BLOOD FOR THIS GROUP!"
He unsheathed his sword, storming toward Tanjiro like a caffeine-fueled maniac with a grudge.
Meanwhile, you and Nezuko were chilling like besties. She even shifted slightly in front of you, her body angled protectively like she was guarding you.
"Zenitsu! Calm down!" Tanjiro held his hands up in panic. "Nezuko is my-"
"SHUT UP YOU AUTISTIC CUNT!" Zenitsu snapped.
Tanjiro’s voice cracked. "Nezuko is my sister!"
Everything froze.
Zenitsu stared at him.
Then slowly turned his wide, tear-glazed eyes toward you and Nezuko.
"...Y/N-chan~, Nezuko-chan~"
You narrowed your eyes immediately. "Zenitsu?"
He lunged.
Before he could even get close, Nezuko scooped you up bridal-style like you weighed nothing and bolted down the hall. Your arms flailed as the scenery blurred, your brain short-circuiting.
"NEZU-WAIT-THIS IS MARIO KART, WHAT THE!!-"
"ZENITSU STOP CHASING THEM!" Tanjiro’s panicked voice echoed behind you.
"Y/N-CHAN, WAIT-!!LET ME LOVE YOUUUU!" Zenitsu howled, sprinting at full speed.
Later, after barely surviving yet another round of chaos, you slipped out of the room for air.
The hallway was quiet, warm sunlight painting the walls with gold as the day began to fade. Your footsteps were soft against the floorboards, the world finally calm for the first time since… well, ever.
Until you heard it.
"UMAI!"
…
"UMAI!"
…
You froze mid-step.
No.
No way.
"UMAI!!!"
Heart pounding, you turned the corner and skidded to a stop.
And there he was.
Kyojuro Rengoku.
His golden hair blazed like fire in the sunlight, his booming voice echoing through the hall as he devoured food with unshakable enthusiasm.
Your jaw dropped.
WAIT—ISN’T THAT…
…
HOW??
…
WHEN??
…
DID I JUST CHANGE THE TIMELINE??
