Kyojuro's dream :
“Hm? Where am I...?”
Kyojuro blinked as the sunlight poured through the shoji screen. He slowly sat up and saw two kids running around the house, giggling and chasing each other barefoot across the tatami.
He furrowed his brows. “Kids...?”
Just then, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned
And nearly fell backward.
“Y-Y/N?!”
You stood there with your hands on your hips, glaring at him. “Kyojuro! I told you not to fall asleep! You were supposed to watch the kids while I cooked!”
He blinked hard, processing everything. “…Wait—what? The kids… you mean—our kids?”
“Oh my god, are you even listening?”
“Y-Yes! Sorry!” he straightened up quickly.
You sighed dramatically, then gave him a warm smile. “Whatever. Dinner’s ready. Come on!”
You turned to the two children. “Kids, let’s eat!”
“Yay!! Finally!” your son cheered.
Both children bolted toward the kitchen, their laughter echoing down the hall. You followed with a fond smile.
Kyojuro, still dazed, placed a hand on his chest, cheeks flushing.
“I can’t believe this is happening… this must be a dream. But it feels so real…”
“Kyojuro!” you called again from the kitchen.
“Coming!!” he replied, quickly getting up, still red in the face.
In Reality – Inside Kyojuro’s Mind
A pale girl—Enmu’s minion—crept deeper into Kyojuro’s subconscious.
“I found it. Even though I can see further, I can't move beyond this... In that realm lies the spiritual core. If I destroy it, the dreamer becomes an empty shell.”
She stabbed through the dream barrier with her small knife.
“There it is… A red spiritual core? I’ve never seen one like this... But they’re fragile. Like delicate glass”
Suddenly, her hands froze.
She gasped his hand was around her neck.
“I… I can’t breathe… but people aren’t supposed to move in this state—! Is his survival instinct that strong?!”
His grip tightened.
Tanjiro's dream
Tanjiro stood outside his family’s house.
“Big brother!” Shigeru and Hanako shouted joyfully.
They ran into his arms, and he hugged them tight—tears immediately flooding his eyes.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!”
Then, a figure appeared in the doorway.
You.
“Oh! Tanjiro, you’re back,” you said casually, holding a small tray of food.
“Y/N…?” he whispered, eyes widening.
You blinked. “Why are you crying?”
“I-I-I-uh”
“Oooh! Tanjiro is blushing again!!” Hanako teased.
“They’re such lovebirds,” her brother added, giggling.
Tanjiro turned red all the way to his ears.
“G-Guys, stop teasing him!” you said with a playful pout. “You know he gets like that every time you remind him about our marriage.”
“M-M-MARRIAGE?!” Tanjiro looked like he was about to faint.
“Anyway,” you said as you ushered everyone inside, “your mom and I finished cooking! Come on!”
At dinner, you and the kids laughed while Tanjiro sat quietly, a little overwhelmed.
“Then Tanjiro just started crying!” you said with a laugh. “I thought something horrible happened!”
“He’s so weird!” Hanako giggled.
Kie smiled softly and looked at her son.
“Tanjiro, perhaps you’re just tired. Don’t push yourself too hard today.”
“I can go sell the coal for you,” you offered sweetly.
Tanjiro rubbed his eyes and gave a small smile.
“No… I think I’m okay. I just… I had a really bad dream. That’s all.”
He looked around at the table the glowing smiles, the food, the warmth.
And most of all, you.
Dinner began. The kids talked over each other, fighting over who while serving miso soup. You passed Tanjiro a second helping before he even asked for it.
“You always eat like a bear after working,” you teased.
He laughed quietly. “Thanks.”
After dinner, you and Kie began cleaning up while the kids ran outside to chase fireflies. Nezuko tugged Tanjiro’s sleeve.
“Big brother, let’s go too!”
You turned to him. “You better go with her. She’ll cry if you don’t.”
“I will not!” Nezuko pouted.
“Yeah you will,” you and Tanjiro said at the same time, then looked at each other and chuckled.
Outside, the garden glowed with little golden lights. Nezuko laughed as she tried to catch one in her hands.
Tanjiro stood under the tree, smiling to himself.
“This… this is everything I’ve ever wanted.”
You came up beside him, arms crossed, eyes soft.
“Then stay here, dummy.”
“…I wish I could,” he whispered.
And suddenly, for a brief second, the air grew still.
His expression turned thoughtful. Conflicted. Something was wrong.
You looked at him.
“Tanjiro…?”
He turned to you.
“Y/N… is this really real?”
You blinked. “Of course it is. Why wouldn’t it be?”
