"YORIICHI!"

"Yes, dear? What's wrong?"

"Have I changed a lot in this story??"

"Maybe..."

"Real shit..."

"Oi, Y/N," Sanemi grunted, jerking his thumb down the hallway. "You're starting training tomorrow. That's your room."

"Thanks, shawty," you winked, skipping down the hallway.

He blinked. Blushed.

"Sh... shawty?"

Time skip - the next morning

"Wake up."

You groaned, wrapped in your blanket burrito. "Ugh... five minutes..."

"I said get the fuck up, you brat!"

You snored dramatically in response.

Sanemi glared, stormed into the kitchen, came back with a full glass of water, and-

SPLASH

"AH-!" you shot up, drenched. "WHAT THE HELL?!"

"I told you to wake the hell up!"

"W-NO-"

"More training, then."

You sat up immediately. "I'm awake, I'm awake!"

"Bratty little shit," he muttered.

"I'm gonna ignore that."

"Breakfast is rea-"

You were already gone.

In the kitchen, you wolfed down your food like it was your last meal.

"Slow down," Sanemi raised an eyebrow.

"Can't," you said with your mouth full. "Didn't eat yesterday."

"Why's that, kid?"

"Had to make it here before nightfall... got lost like five times."

Then you choked.

"Ugh-"

Sanemi sighed and handed you a glass of water.

"You good?"

"Yeah... thanks."

"Whatever."

Time skip - training day

"Do 500 push-ups."

"WHAT?! I can't even run for ten minutes!"

"Fine. 1000."

"Ugh-fuck you."

"What'd you say, kid?"

"Nothing."

"No, I heard that. 1500. Get moving."

"...I hate you."

"Feeling's mutual."

By the time you finished, your arms were jello.

"Now run around the house. Twenty times."

You stared blankly at him.

"If you complain, it's fifty."

"...."

You started running.

Time skip - lunchtime (around 12 or 1 PM)

You sat on the floor, humming to yourself as you played music from your phone.

"And I gave a second chance to Poppy, but I'm left here feelin' goofy, oh, the way Poppy made me feeeel-"

"What the hell are you doing?"

You yelped and hid your phone behind your back.

"...Singing."

Sanemi sighed. "Whatever, kid. Lunch is ready."

After lunch

"Sanemi?"

"What is it now, brat?"

You opened your mouth, but the doorbell rang.

Sanemi shot you a look. "Stay here."

He opened the door. You heard him mutter something-then a familiar, cranky voice replied.

You poked your head around the corner.

"Oh look, it's Obanai," you grinned.

He blinked when he saw you. "Didn't know she was here."

You waved.

"Hi, pookie."

Sanemi immediately facepalmed.

Obanai blinked in horror.

"...Don't call me that."

You gasped. "So you want a different nickname?! Got it, Pookanai."(mix of pookie and Obanai :D)

Sanemi choked.

Obanai slowly turned to Sanemi. "Why is she like this??"

"I ask myself that every damn second."

You skipped over and plopped onto the couch. "So, what brings you here, Iguro? Missed me? Came for da vibes ?"

He didn't answer.

Instead, he turned to Sanemi. "I came to deliver a message from the Master. He wants an update on her training by tomorrow."

Sanemi scoffed. "Tch. She's been here for barely a day. All she's done is complain and call me 'shawty.'"

"Don't forget the cheek pinching," you added proudly.

Obanai's eye twitched.

"She's lucky you haven't killed her yet."

Sanemi mumbled something like "I've tried."

You stood up, did a dramatic hair flip (even if your hair wasn't that long), and looked Obanai in the eye.

"Tell the Master I'm thriving, slaying, glowing, and emotionally unstable. But mostly thriving."

"...Is she always like this?"

"Yes," Sanemi said. "Unfortunately."

You smiled at them both sweetly.

Obanai stared for a moment, eyes narrowing under his bandages.

"...You're strange."

You gasped. "Thanks! I take that as a compliment."

"It wasn't."

"Still taking it."

He looked away. "Whatever. Just... don't die. We need her alive for the mission, apparently."

You leaned into Sanemi. "Awww, they care about me."

Sanemi shoved you lightly. "Don't get used to it."

Obanai turned toward the door but paused, glancing back over his shoulder.

"Don't slack on training. Even weirdos like you need discipline."

You saluted. "Aye-aye, Pookanai."

"Stop. Calling me that."

He left.

You turned to Sanemi. "You think he likes me?"

"No."

You winked. "I think he does."

Later that night

You were lying in your futon, sprawled out, sore everywhere, listening to Sanemi stomping around the kitchen.

'I think I'm gonna die tomorrow...'

'I told you he was crazy,' Yoriichi whispered in your head.

'I didn't expect military boot camp in socks and pajama pants.'

You closed your eyes, and before you fell asleep, you whispered,

"...Pookanai."

From the hallway, Sanemi's voice rang out:

"I HEARD THAT."
