Author POV:
Everything that tied the two together was there, suddenly, just there.
The bond between them that could never be severed, not through pain or betrayal or anything trivial of the kind.
As much as one might wish to break the bond, the only thing one can do is strengthen it, in order to overcome the pain.
It was everywhere.
"Make... a wish?"
"Do it, Yashiro." Hanako stepped back. "Make a wish. Wish for us to forget about this, about everything. Wish for us to forget about each other. Wish it, and I can make it come true."
"Forget... about each other?" Yashiro's knees felt weak.
"It's what you wanted, wasn't it? That's why you made that deal with the apparition." Hanako smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "I can do it for us. I just want to forget this ever happened. I just want to erase my mistakes, and yours too."
"Will I forget about... everything?"
"Everything that has ever happened between us." Hanako looked at her solemnly. "That's not what I want. But it's the only way we can ever be okay again."
"I want to start over." Nene whispered. "I want to forget about everything I've done to you. I want to forget about everything you've done to me. I just want to feel normal again. But I don't want to lose you."
"You won't." Hanako closed his eyes. "I'll still be there, in my boundary, and you'll still be yourself. You might meet me again. We might do all the same things again. Or we might completely rewrite history. But I'm willing to take that chance, if I can erase what I've done."
"All I have to do is wish for it."
"All you have to do is wish for it."
Nene tugged at her hair, tears pooling at her feet. "Hanako-kun, I wish we would forget about everything we've done to each other. I wish... I wish that after we forget, I might meet you again and we might fix things. I wish for a second chance at this."
"Your wish will be granted." Hanako said softly, and suddenly light was everywhere, and everything was blinded, and no-one could see anything but....
Neither of them cared. It was all for this. For another chance.
Another chance at love.
