𝗜 𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗔 𝗚𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 ✦ 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 [OLD]
𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱
Okay, this was awkward.
Aether wasn't sure what to do about this, y/n clinging to him. That ghost really frightened her but Aether didn't expect it to frighten her this much.
Y/n stuck with Verr Goldet while Aether and Paimon did some investigating.
Now that they had a good idea of how to find the ghost again, they grabbed y/n again and dragged her outside the Inn.
They'd already figured out that when she faints, she's a pretty good fighter.
So, if the ghost decided it wanted to end their free trial of life, they would have y/n there to protect them.
Why not use y/n's odd but useful sleep-walking talent to their advantage, hm?
"Y/n, are you okay?" Aether asked as they walked in the direction him and Paimon had last seen the ghost.
She blinked, her brain slowly processing his words, "...WHAT DO YOU MEAN AM I OKAY??? I SAW A GHOST! A GHOST!!!"
"Well, we're leaving the Inn now. You don't have to be afraid anymore!" Paimon chirped and Aether gave the pixie a look.
'Tf are you doing? Stop lying to her-'
Y/n sniffled, "...you're lying."
Paimon deadpanned, "huh."
"You're lying, I can tell." y/n mumbled, rubbing tears from her eyes, "But I did say I'd help you guys out so I'll stick with you anyways."
Paimon's eyes sparkled, "Y/n..."
"But that doesn't mean I forgive you. You threatened to blackmail me and you kidnapped me." y/n said sharply, crossing her arms and giving the pixie and the blond a cold look.
"Oh, right, we did do that..." Aether murmured and y/n gasped.
"DON'T ACT SO CASUAL ABOUT IT!!!"
"Yeah, I forgot. My bad-"
"THERE'S THAT GHOST AGAIN--!" y/n suddenly shrieked as she hid behind Aether, pointing at the ghostly little girl in the little area or trees up ahead.
The little ghost girl giggled and disappeared. It a moment later, a Ruin Hunter at the edge or the group of trees activated.
Aether sighed, "You've gotta be kidding me."
"THE RUIN HUNTER! IT'S POSSESSED!" y/n screamed at the top of her lungs, violently shaking Aether, "AETHER, DO SOMETHING, IT'S GONNA KILL US-!!!"
"Oh well, guess we're all gonna die." Paimon sighed and y/n started screaming even more, tears gathering in her eyes.
"Paimon, look what you did!" Aether snapped, covering his ears.
"Sorry, can't hear you over the screaming." Paimon replied with a devious little smirk then blinked "Oh, it stopped."
Both Aether and Paimon glanced at y/n who had fainted on the spot but didn't quite fall over like any normal person would.
The two took a couple of steps back just to be safe.
Paimon actually screamed when y/n disappeared and appeared a moment later. A bright flash of purple caught Aether's attention as y/n finally drew that sword that'd remained idle at her side for so long.
The air crackled with electricity, like an oncoming storm as y/n inhaled. She cut through the air as lightning would cut through the dark sky,
The ruin hunter's arm was cut off in one clean strike, sending the hunk of metal flying over to Aether and Paimon.
The traveler grabbed his shrieking companion, hurrying out of the way to avoid being hit.
The machine began to falter but wasn't destroyed, swerving around and preparing to attack y/n again. The girl sheathed her sword once more, the vision embedded in the tsuba glinting before a bolt of hot lightning to come out of nowhere to strike it down.
Hm... more like blow it up completely.
Y/n was calm as she stood up right again, hand dropping from her sheathed sword as she exhaled.
Aether and Paimon watched on with blank expressions as y/n stood a distance away, electro energy sparking around her and slowly dying down.
Wow.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...how did I get over here?" she asked, giving Aether a blank expression before gasping, "Wait! Did you put me up here to save me?"
Aether sighed in exasperation, facepalming himself, "Give me a break..."
Y/n's happy 'thank you's quickly turned to screams of horror, "THAT LITTLE GIRL AGAIN!"
"She's back!" Paimon gasped.
The little ghost girl had indeed returned again and was jumping up and down in excitement, giggling.
"I-" y/n was shocked, "She's GIGGLING? AFTER SHE TRIED TO MURDER US?"
Aether had to hold y/n back to prevent her from trying to attack the ghost even though her attacks would definitely not hti.
"Silly-churl, billy-churl..." ghost sang, "Silly-billy hilichurl..."
"Haunting things isn't nice! Little girl, are you listening?" Paimon scolded the ghost.
"Chilly-churl, frilly-churl..." the child continued singing.
"Now listen here young lady!" Paimon snapped and the ghost fell silent.
"Okay. Dusky Ming won't tease the travelers at the inn anymore." the ghost sighed, "Next time, Traveler can come play with Dusky Ming. If you don't come and play, Dusky Ming will come find you~"
"AGHHH, SHE DISAPPEARED!" y/n screamed when the ghost faded away.
"Calm down, she's gone." Aether told the girl who only seemed to panic more.

"Wh-What... you really got the ghost to promise to stop haunting the inn?" the chef asked when the trio returned Jim and shared the good news, "Wow... You really are something... I am in your debt. Please wait a moment. I'll make you the smoothest, silkiest bowl of Almond Tofu."
"Two, please." y/n mumbled and blinked when Paimon nudged her, "Nevermind, make that three."
Y/n seemed a little happier when the three plates of Almond Tofu were finished, a soft smile on her face as she enjoyed the food.
Paimon practically inhaled her own plate and since the third plate was for Xiao, y/n offered to share some of hers.
Aether declined her offer since she seemed to like the food. Besides, he could just make some for himself later.
"All we have to do now is go that adeptus." Paimon exclaimed, "Y/n? Do you have the food?"
"Yep." she confirmed, holding up the two plates of food, "But Aether has to do it, I quite like living even if life sucks."
"Y/n, he's not going to kill you-"
"YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!"
It took some convincing before Aether dragged y/n to the balcony with him and Paimon. He'd need to apologize to Goldet about the indents left in the floor from where she'd dug her heels into the floorboards.
"...You three again." Xiao sighed, clearly irritated by their persistence.
"Wait! Don't go disappearing again!" Paimom said quickly and Aether pushed y/n forward. (Ashter 💀)
"What's this?"
"It's your favorite, Almond Tofu! As well as y/n's best dish! Qingce Stir Fry!" Paimon chirped as y/n handed over the food, "Aether! Quick! Tell him everything before he finishes eating!"
As Aether explained this ridiculous situation to the adeptus, y/n began to let her mind wander a little bit.
...she hadn't visited Guyun Stone Forest in a while. Y/n couldn't quite tell why but it felt as if she truly was visiting someone when she went there.
As for the lizard, it popped up every now and then. Sometimes when y/n returned home late from work and occasionally in the morning.
'Huh... and I should probably go see if I can help Baizhu and Qiqi out with anything...' y/n thought to herself and began to frown, 'Last time I saw them, Baizhu didn't sound too well. Maybe I should bring some medicine along with me... I just have to remember the recipe-'
Paimon had to pat y/n on the face to snap her out of her daze, "Come on, y/n! Let's head back to the harbor now!"
"Huh? Oh! Right!" y/n exclaimed, seeming more alert now, "And on the way there, I'll need your help finding a few things."
Y/n glanced at Xiao and offered him a smile, partially because she was guilty for not having heard a word he said and because everyone needs a smile from time to time.
"Have a wonderful evening!" y/n chirped before hurrying away with Paimon and Aether following, 'Crap, what if the stir fry was bad? DAMMIT, I SCREWED UP AGAIN, DIDN'T I?'
Don't worry, you didn't.
Xiao liked the stir fry a lot, y/n, you did well.

"Thank you for the help, y/n!" Paimon exclaimed when y/n had walked with them back to the Harbor.
"If I were to say I was happy to help, I'd be lying." y/n sighed heavily but smiled at the duo, "But, I am little glad to know that I managed to do some good."
"I guess this is where we part ways?" Aether asked and y/n nodded.
"Haha, I guess so." y/n laughed, "If you need anything, it'll be pretty easy to find me. I'm always out and about so it's not too difficult to track me down."
"We'll keep that in mind!" Paimon said with a smile, "Bye-bye now, y/n!"
"Farewell!" y/n replied, waving to the Traveler and the pixie as they walked off.
She watched for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh, 'Alright, I'll take care of everything else tomorrow. I just wanna go home and sleep right now...'
And with that, a mentally (and physically) exhausted y/n trudged home.
