96: 𝐶𝑎𝑡-𝑛𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔

Kira had visited her uncle. They hadn't talked much, the man was exhausted and hospitalized. Laying in bed with his arms wrapped up. But the nurses told Kira that by the end of the day he'd be able to leave if he wanted.

He mostly just apologized to her. Over and over again for everything. While she was glad he was apologizing, it had gotten a little annoying. He was obviously very sentimental right now. She left him after a few hours.

Kira walked from his room with a sigh. Taking a few moments to herself before she even tried to navigate the hospital on her own.

It had been awhile since she'd been in a hospital, for someone else at least. She had been there for herself not that long ago. But this was different. She couldn't remember the last time she actually visited someone in a place like this. She didn't like it. She pulled on a blue medical mask she found in her uncles room. She didn't want to catch anything, or worse. Be recognized by someone.

She walked down the halls with her hands in her pockets, head down with her usual headphones on. There were so many hurt and sick people here, so many doctors thinking about complicated medical issues. It gave her a headache. She walked through the halls and started to feel a little lost, why'd he have to be so far away from the exits??

She held the mask against her face. Looking anywhere for an elevator or an exit or a map. Maybe even a nurse that wasn't too busy to direct her.

Instead she ended up turning the corner and seeing a familiar guy in a wheelchair. He was beside a water dispenser, thoughts frustrated and embarrassed. Kira looked over and realized why, the dispenser was out of cups, but there was a bag of them on top of a cart thing.
Too high up for the handicapped man to reach. Making him very annoyed and a little mad at himself for being injured.

It had been awhile since Kira had seen Tensei Iida.

She stood there for a second, his back was to her as he got ready to roll away from the dispenser. Giving up.

The first and last time they met, things hadn't gone very well. But that was mostly her fault. She sighed and walked forward, she was actually slightly nervous as she reached up and grabbed the paper cups that the thirsty man had been reaching for. He still hadn't heard her, rolling forward to peek into windows and find nurses that could help him.

Kira filled up the cup and walked over, he was about to give up and find another one when Kira nudged his shoulder. "Here." She said simply. Her voice muffled by her mask as she held up the cup.

He turned to look at her, blinking in surprise. Staring at the cup she was offering him. Then his mind caught up with him and he realized she was giving it to him.
"Oh!" He said, taking the cup. "Thank you." He said with a wide cheery smile.

"Hey I feel like I recognize her... She's not a nurse though... Maybe she's here for PT or a checkup like me? Or just a visitor?"

"No problem." Kira said, taking a step back. She kinda wanted to dip. But she also wanted to ask him where the exit was.

"Hey do I... Do I know you?" He asked, squinting at her. "I can't tell with that mask..."

Kira hooked the mask with her finger and pulled it down to rest below her chin. "I'm Kira Kokoa." She introduced herself. "I'm... I'm Tenya's f... classmate."

Maybe she should have said friend. She didn't know, she wasn't like most people. She didn't consider everyone a friend just because they were on good terms. The title seemed a little more than that to her.

"Oh... Oh yeah!" He laughed. "We met at the graduation didn't we?" He asked. "Oh she was the one that kinda lashed out right? The quirkless one?"

"Yeah, sorry about that. I was having a bad day." Kira said, leaning against the wall. She had a feeling he was going to trap her in conversation. The guy seemed like he needed the interaction though.

"No it's... It's fine." He said, remembering all that went down. "I guess I might need to apologize for him... He's..."

"You're brother is... In polite words, oblivious. I knew that from the beginning." Kira said for him. "We've pretty much made up already. You don't need to apologize."

He chuckled and turned his chair to face her better. "Oblivious.. yeah that's a good word for it."

"So what are you doing now? For school I mean." He asked her.

Kira raised an eyebrow. "You don't know?" She asked. She had kinda figured Tenya would have told his family of her being in his class.

He frowned and she shook her head.
"I'm at UA. Me and Tenya are still in the same class." She explained. He probably wouldn't remember her from the sports festival or anything, he had been... Busy during it. "I thought he would have told you."

"You're a... A hero course student?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. "He said she was quirkless right? That was the whole thing. But she's in the UA high hero course? That's insane."

"Let's just say your brother might have been... Mistaken about a few things." She said, looking away. She wasn't inclined to put right admit she had lied to everyone about that. Because she wasn't going to explain why she had.

"So... You're not quirkless?" He asked to confirm. Obviously wanting it to be completely clear before he started to question everything.

"No. No I'm not it's... it's complicated." She sighed.

"I can see that." He nodded, deciding to leave it alone before the conversation started too far from small talk.
"So she's been involved with all of the attacks? Is that why she's here? She seems fine though. I should ask Tenya about it. Though he's been a little distant lately. I wonder if my injuries make him uncomf-"

"Do you uh..." Kira scratched the back of her neck. "Do you know where the exit is? I think I got a little turned around." She admitted.

"Oh yeah sure. Just down that hall there and to the left." He turned to point behind himself. "You uh... Visiting someone?" He guessed.

"Yeah, my uncle." She nodded. "He's uh... He's in recovery."

Tensei was oblivious to a lot of the details of her life. He knew that she was related to a pro hero. But he had no clue it was All Might.

"I'm sorry to hear that." He nodded at her.

"Yeah... I am too." Kira glanced back. "Sorry I  should go." She said, walking down the hall where he had pointed her too.
"Thanks."

She pulled her mask up as she made her escape. She felt like she had revealed too much information in this interaction.

Walking back to the Bakugou residence. She was prepared to grab her things and return the clothes she was borrowing. A skirt of Mrs Bakugou's and a random shirt that was definitely Katsuki's.
As much as she would love staying with them until farther notice she couldn't take advantage of their hospitality. They just had a child snatched from them temporarily. They deserved to have some alone time with their son.

Plus who would look after Miso?

She got off and walked down the streets to the Bakugou house. Mrs Bakugou had offered to drive her but she declined, knowing she might be awhile.

She walked in and took off her boots, they were from her hero costume. No one in the house shared Kira's shoe size. "Hey I'm probably going to go back home." She spoke to Katsuki, who she knew was in the living room. "Someone needs to take care..."

She looked down at the feeling of fur rubbing against her legs. "...of Miso..." She finished.

Staring at the cat that was rubbing against her legs. It was Miso.

Speak of the devil.

"I thought you'd say that." Bakugou said from the couch. "Me and mom picked her up." He said, nodding at the cat. "What's your excuse now?"

Kira picked up the cat. "You kidnapped my cat?" She asked, pulling off her mask.

"Why are you walking around like that?" Katsuki asked, nodding at the mask.

"I don't like people recognizing me in public. And hospitals freak me out" Kira answered, shoving it in her pocket. "But for real, you went in my house?"

"...yes." Katsuki nodded slowly. "We were in the neighborhood, mom was picking up some food and I realized Miso probably hadn't eaten all day. So I told Mom and she decided we should just take her. I was just planning on feeding her, the catnapping was her idea."

"Wow." Kira said, holding back a smile as she stroked the cats hair. "She's okay with it? I know some people don't like em."

"My parents don't care." He shrugged.

"Okay, I'll take care of her shit though." Kira nodded, setting the cat down. Miso ran over to Bakugou and jumped on the couch next to him, purring and rubbing his arms.

Kira smiled and walked over too, sitting beside him. Not sure how close she should, she would like to sit right up against him. Put her head on his shoulder and watch the movie that was playing with him.

But she wasn't sure he would want that.

She knew he liked her, that much was obvious. But he was fighting his attraction to her, because he was scared of going too far. Too fast.

She understood that and wanted to respect his boundaries.

But then he wrapped his arm around her shoulders while trying to keep his eyes on the TV. Kira smiled in victory and leaned against him.

He clinched his jaw, mind jumping from one thing to another: The movie- Her- The cat- Her- The movie- Her uncle- Her.

Kira ignored him and closed her eyes, amazed that she was still tired after sleeping for an entire day.
