78: 𝑃𝑇𝑆𝐷

"Think think think!!" Kira yelled as they ran, ducking and dodging.

"I can't!!!" Denki cried out, running behind her. Practically sobbing while he ran.

"Not you!" Kira groaned. "Me!" Finally it stopped and Kira all but collapsed when she got a break. "I need to think of something, and fast. We can't keep going like this... Going in a building would be suicide, I can't tell which ones are gonna collapse or not." She whispered, gripping her hair.

"Well it's not like we can fly or anything." Denki said, gasping for breath. "We can only go where he lets us. This is so fucked up."

"We can't go up..." Kira whispered. She turned and jogged backwards a few yards. Back to something she had noticed earlier.
"But we can go down." She said, grabbing a manhole cover and lifting it up, revealing a hole in the ground.

"Oh no... That's too gross. I'll stay up here and fail." Denki said, shaking his head.

"Denki no one actually lives here. This is no real sewage." Kira said rolling her eyes. "Just water."

"Ah yes. Just put the nervous electricity welder in the water. Great plan." He said with a frown.

"Exactly. You would never do this. That's why it might work." Kira said, climbing in. Grabbing the rings of a ladder.

"I don't follow."

"Nezu can't see us. At least I'm assuming he can't. Which means he's acting on assumptions, what he thinks we're doing. And right now he thinks we're above ground, and we have probably less than a minute before the strikes again. So get in!"
Kira said, climbing farther down.

"Aw man." Denki whined, following her. "But then what?? We can't navigate under there."

"I know. We hide in here and wait for the next attack. Then we climb back up if possible and backtrack over the rubble. Hopefully he'll assume we're still running and leave that area a-" Kira yelped when the ground started to shake, hand slipping from the ladder.

"Kira!" Denki yelled, he let go of the ladder with one hand and grabbed one of Kira's to keep her from falling the rest of the way.
Kira hang for a second, they held each other's wrists tightly until she found her footing and quickly scurried down the ladder. The water was knee deep but her boots were water proof and her pants were water-repellent. She was glad she thought of all those features, her clothes remained completely dry.

Denki hugged the bottom rings nervously. "I think it'll be safer if I just stay up here." He said with a small smile. "Especially if there's another earthquake."

"Okay, your choice-" the rumbling picked up again, buildings collapsing right above them. The hole providing their light was covered up, leaving them in the dark.

"I have a flashlight." Denki whispered after it was over.

"Climb to the top, see if we can still get out." Kira whispered back. He nodded and pulled out a pocket flashlight, holding it in his mouth as he climbed to the top.
"You can, but we'll have to crawl. It'll be tight."

"Okay hold on." Kira climbed after him and watched as he disappeared out of the hole. She followed and he was right. It was really tight. He took off his jacket so he could slide through easily. Kira unhooked her belt and shoved it in her cargo pockets and they quickly army crawled under a big piece of rubble.

They made it out quickly into the middle of a collapsed building, Denki stood up and pulled Kira the rest of the way out. Kira stood and glanced at him and he looked around nervously. He had a thick black undershirt underneath his tank top, which he layered again with his jacket.

"Now what?" He asked Kira, messing with his choker.

"We need to find out where he is. And quickly, I don't know how much time we have."

"What are they doing?" Mina whispered, tilting her head.

The two people on the screen were scampering over the rubble of the building, Kira getting as high as she could to see over towards Nezu.

"They're off his radar, Nezu doesn't know where they are, he can only assume." Momo said. "They're backtracking, assuming he won't look for them in the wreckage."

"There's no way they can actually get to him in time though. The time is halfway up already." Uraraka said, pointing at the clock.

It was true, they'd have to move fast if they were going to get to Nezu in time. Even then it would be cutting it close, and there was no guarantee they'd be able to capture him.

"Why don't they just retreat?" Sero asked.

"The closest exits to them are completely blocked off. See that rubble? They would have to climb up at least a story to get over it. Ribbit." Tsu said, pointing at the screen. "And Nezu is blocking off the other ones."

"Man, isn't he being totally harsh right now?" Ojirou asked.

"Poor Nezu was experimented on by human scientists... It's times like this he gets his revenge." Recovery girl said with a smile.

This disturbed the students.

"Alright. He's using that wreaking ball to destroy the buildings. If we can get into or onto that crane we will win. He can't fight us, at least I don't think he can." Kira whispered.
"But it is very, very important that he doesn't see us. At all until it's too late."

"Right." Denki whispered. The ground shook as the ball hit another building.
"But uh... How exactly are we supposed to get in?"

"That's the problem." Kira whispered. "It's secured ontop of that metal thing. Almost two stories up." Kira pointed as they snuck around the building.

"Maybe I could shut it down." Denki said, turning to Kira with an idea. "I'll electrocute the metal at the bottom. It'll run through all the metal that touches each other. It'll electrocute him and maybe shut down the machine." He said.

Kira smiled. "That's a great idea. But won't a charge that big disable you?"

"Yeah." He nodded. "So you'll have to go in and restrain him after."

"Okay. But I won't be able to get in from the bottom." Kira whispered. "We'll split up, I'll climb the building behind it, you approach from the bottom. Electrocute it as soon as you have an opening. We can't waste a single second."

"Sounds like a plan. Just make sure you don't touch that thing while there's still a charge okay?"

Kris nodded and they both snuck away from each other. Kira didn't know what the time was and the uncertainty made her rush. It was like the bomb all over again, minus the threat of death.

Kira climbed up the far side of the building, turned away from where Nezu should be. Then when she was at the top she heard the crackling of electricity and the creaking of metal as the machine slowed to a stop. Kaminari had done his part, now it was time for hers.

Kira gulped, the gap had been bigger than expected. More than a yard. She pushed off of the building and landed on the roof of the crane. Boots thumping as she made her way to the edge. She swung down, her feet slammed into the window as she twisted and grabbed the side of the roof. She swung in and landed in a crouch. Knowing she had looked pretty badass while doing it.

She looked around, handcuffs pulled out and ready. But she couldn't see him. She stopped and listened.

She couldn't hear his thoughts. But she could still sense a little bit of brain activity. She couldn't tell if he was awake or not, and that scared her.

Something slammed into her back and she fell on the ground. Spinning around she landed a good kick on something soft. She heard a polite "oof." And looked up. She was on her back with her elbows to the ground, holding herself up. Above her was the rat man.

Pointing a gun at her.

"Did Nezu just pull out a fucking Glock?!"
Sero asked, gripping his hair. Eye wide.

They had all been a little worried when they saw Kira entering the crane while he was still in there. Conscious. He had used some rubber to keep himself from touching the electricity. Obviously anticipating an attack from Kaminari. Though he ha dto give it to the kids, he really did think he had them on the run for awhile.

Unfortunately Kaminari's hair was very bright and recognizable. He caught a glimpse of the boy sneaking up and positioned himself accordingly.

But no one had expected that. Aizawa put a hand to his ear piece. "That better not be real." He said to Nezu on the other line.

Nezu spoke back, both to Aizawa and Kira. "Don't worry. It's a simple replica, loaded with tranquilizer darts."

"Thank fuck." Jirou whispered. "How much longer does she have?" She glanced over at the timer.

"Two minutes." Bakugou whispered. She could do it. There was more than enough time.

Unless she got shot. Then she'd be knocked out for awhile. But he hadn't pulled the trigger yet, which meant he was waiting out the time. He had to know that it was close, he probably knew to the second how much time was left.
Bakugou nervously chewed his bottom lip as he watched his friend stare up into the barrel of the gun.

It took Kira a few seconds to get over her shock. Her mind flashing back to when she was just a kid. Staring up at a gun pointed to her forehead.

She closed her eyes and took a breath. That's not real. She's not here. This is Nezu, while he is insane he won't kill you. These aren't real bullets.

It had been a while since she'd had an PTSD attack. She hadn't realized what a trigger being on the other side of a pistol was for her. But now she was looking up with a gun an arms length away from her, held up by a terrifying rat man.

Kira glanced around, then grabbed a rubber mat that had been left on the floor. She held it over her and kicked Nezu's arm in one swift motion. Knocking the gun from his hand. She heard three whistles and thumps as three darts planted themselves in the rubber.
The gun clattered to the ground and Kira jumped up. Tackling the rat man, who was surprisingly hard to grab. It was like trying to wrestle down a slick wet animal. His smooth white fur was difficult to keep a hold of. He slipped from her grip and Kira jumped again. She wrappers her arms and legs completely around the rodent and held the handcuffs tightly. Scrambling to find an arm or leg that she could attach it too. When she did she locked it on. Closing it to the tightest setting around his arm.

The buzzer went off and Kira slumped over.
She had done it, with thirty seconds left on the clock.

"Well done Kokoa." Nezu said with a creepy smile. "You've captured me, while completely quirkless."

"I'm starting to think you hate me." Kris said, rubbing her eyes. When she closed them she saw the gun. One second he was holding it, the next it was the white haired woman.

"I want to push you to be your best." He said, wobbling to the exit. "You'll never achieve that in your comfort zone, so I have to force you out of it occasionally. I hope you understand." Nezu told her with his usual sadistic smile.
