It could be. It definitely could be that bad.
Izuku Midoriya seemed to be a perfectly nice young boy. Freckled and shy with obvious admiration for heroes. But once she spent more and more time around him, she started to realize just how annoying he was.
"He never mentioned having a niece... That's weird, he's her guardian right? And he spends almost all day with me... Does he like me more?! More than his own niece! That's great! All might likes me more than his own niece!"
"Hi! I-I-I'm Izuku Midoriya." He stammered with a blush. "Girl's think nervous guys are cute right? Oh well it doesn't really matter, I have to keep up this shy persona anyways."
"S-sorry I don't talk to girls a lot..."
"Okay. My name is Kira Kokoa." She said with a flat, uninterested tone.
"She doesn't seem to want to be here."
He noted silently. He was right and Kora didn't care to prove him wrong.
"Sorry I'm not good with people, you see I don't really have any f-friends."
'Maybe I can get her to feel sorry for me.'
'Cry me a fucking river.'
Kira thought blandly.
"Yeah, my uncle told me." She checked her phone. Her uncle had just dropped her off at some dirty beach that the two trained at. Telling him instead of training he should take the day off and hang out with her.
Kira felt like she was being pimped out by her own uncle. She was kinda pissed at the guy, he did care to see her until he thought she could be of use to this useless kid.
"He told her? So they do talk. Maybe I'm not the favorite, yet. I always end up the favorite. All my teachers like me, at least more than they like Kacchan. No one likes Kacchan, I made sure of it. I am the favorite. All it takes is constant work, meekness, gaining pity, sucking up and a little humor. I could be her favorite too. I just need time."
His thoughts were always like that at least as far as she could tell. He was constantly trying to figure out how to make people like him. He was desperately striving to be on top, and he did it through manipulation.
"O-oh he did? That's a little embarrassing." He rubbed the back of his head. "Now she tells me it's alright and nothing to be embarrassed about." He was seemingly scripting out how he thought the conversation would go based on how conversations like this had went in the past.
He was constantly thinking. About multiple things at a time. He was a pretty smart guy, and knew how to get what he wanted.
"Oh well. So what are we even supposed to be doing then?" She said. Not wanting to play his game.
"Okay so she's not like the other girl's I've talked too. She's blunt, doesn't seem to value feelings. Or maybe has trouble processing things. She might also have very little social awareness."
'Believe me buddy, I have a lot more awareness than you might think.' Kira thought, eyes scanning the junkie beach.
"This place is a mess."
"Oh I know, I've been trying my best to clean it up with your uncle's help. It's just so sad to me, this beach could be so beautiful."
He mumbled. He kept his voice low on purpose, he wanted to seem really shy.
"And it can't be good for all the poor animals that live here."
'Girls like sensitive guys. That's what Google says. So be sensitive, girls like animals. Cute little sea creatures." Kira didn't even know what to think about this kid's thought process. He googled how to get a girl to like him?! Was this for today specifically or has he done this before?
"Yeah, it must totally suck." Kira said with absolutely no emotion behind it.
"Oh no, is she mad at me? I don't like it when people are mad at me- well scatch that. I like it when some people are mad at me. Some people are funny when they're mad, like Kacchan- Hey I wonder what he's up to today?"
"So are we just gonna stand here all day? Let's make this quick, the new episode of Percy Jackson drops at nine." She said, shoving her hands into the pockets of her leather jacket. Today she was wearing it with a cropped shirt and a long green maxi skirt.
"Percy Jackson? I haven't watched it- Greek mythology! Okay so she likes ancient Greece. I don't know much about that subject though- but I can learn! Maybe she'll like me more if we have a common interest!"
His thoughts spiraled.
"So you like Greek mythology?" He asked with fake nervousness.
"Nope, I hate it."
She lied, trying to to smirk at his spiraling confused thoughts.
His mouth opened and closed as his brain tried to compute what she said. She decided she liked baffling him like this, almost as much as he seemed to enjoy pissing off whoever this Kacchan guy was.
"So are we just going to stand here or what?" She asked him before he could figure out a new method of making her like him. She started to walk away.
"Wait!" He jogged after her. "I don't know what to say. I don't like her. I can't read her. I can't understand her. She's weird. Okay okay, remember she's all Might's niece! You HAVE to make her like you. Girls are girls. They can't be that different from each other right?"
Kira quirked and eyebrow, but didn't stop walking away from the beach. He caught up with her. "What do girls like? Romcoms? Make-up? Clothes? Hair?" He listed off an endless amount of stereotypes about what girls like. Trying to find one he could associate with her and casually bring up.
"I think your jacket is cool. W-where'd you get it?" He asked her.
She shrugged.
"I thrifted it." She answered honestly. He hid his thoughts on that quite well.
"Wait like second hand? Ew. Why would you want to wear someone else's clothes. Even my family has never been that bad off. But she can't be poor right? Maybe she's just frugal."
"That's cool! You must've gotten a good deal then right?" He asked as though he actually thought thrifting was a good thing.
"Yeah I guess." She mumbled, checking the time on her phone.
"Oh no she wants to leave. Okay okay think of something to do quick! Uh she looks like she's dressed in a fairly grungey style. Not common for Japan... And she has headphones- oh! Music! Grunge people love music! Talk about music! Specifically rock music! Oh no I don't know anything about rock music... What bands-"
"I see you carry around headphones. What kind of music do you like?" He asked her.
"I don't listen to music."
She lied. Once again enjoying his confusion. She was actually enjoying this stupid date, listening to his brain scamper around trying to find any sort of common ground.
"O-oh... Well um... O-okay."
He stammered and eventually gave up when he couldn't figure out anything to say too that. "THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE THE HEADPHONES FOR?!" His thoughts screamed into her head. He was getting frustrated with her.
"She's weird. She's really weird, I don't understand- Oh... She's messing with me isn't she?!" He figured out. "She's saying random contradictory things to confuse me. She does listen to music and she does like Greek mythology. She's just being a bitch!"
Kira tried not to smile as she walked straight forward.
"Oh uh... I like your hair. Where'd you urm... Get it done?" He asked shyly. "Probably in a bathroom, it looks like shit."
"Prison." She lied with little emotion.
"Oh I get it..." He thought. "She's just insane."
'Now you're getting it.'
She thought. 'Now turn around, run away and tell my uncle you want nothing to do with me.' She thought.
"Y-you're makeup is all smeared." He pointed out.
"Good." She said. Crossing her arms.
"So uh... What do you want to do?"
He asked. "What do girls like to do? How do dates work?! Is it my job to plan it as the boy?"
"I don't know, go to the park and throw rocks at old people." She said with a straight face.
"She has a very sick sense of humor."
He thought. "I don't think we should do that."
"Well you haven't given any better suggestions." She said back.
"I'm sorry, I've never gone out with a g-girl before." He stammered.
"Womp womp." She mumbled. "I haven't either."
"Does she have literally no regard for the feelings of others?! How can she be related to All Might?!" He thought in shock. He sniffled a little bit. "Are you picking on me?" He asked.
"I don't know, what do you think?" She shrugged.
"It's fine, I get bullied all the time at school. I'm used to it." He said with a nervous smile and a perfect trembling lip.
"Well actually the bullying stopped at the beginning of middle school."
"I'm sure you did something to deserve it."
She said bluntly, checking her phone.
"You're not very nice." He said with a frown.
"You're catching on." She snapped back.
"Okay listen, I don't want to be here. And you just want to make my uncle happy, right? So how about this, we part ways now. Tell him we had a wonderful time but weren't compatible and then we never see each other again. Deal?"
"Deal!" He said with some sort of determination. His frustration finally being shown in his face.
"I can't believe her! I've never met anyone so rude!"
