Nova woke up in a hospital again. For the second time in two days. It was dark, the room was quiet.

She laid there for a few long moments. She was in the hospital... But why? Was it the buildings...

No, no she had been discharged. It wasn't the buildings... She had gone back to Zel's house and then... And then she heard Iida's voice and...

Stain.

It was fuzzy, especially after he paralyzed her with his quirk but she remembered him being stabbed... She remembered her quirk killing him. The movement of the knife through his heart.

She started to cry again.

"Kurayami? Are you... Are you awake?" Her shoulder was shook and she realized she hadn't even opened her eyes. She startled, eyes wide as she looked up at who was over her.

Iida.

"I-iida?! What- i-i-" Nova looked around the dim room. Panic overwhelming her.

"We're at Hosu hospital... Lay down please... You've been unconscious for over a day, the doctors said you were completely exhausted." Iida said, he pressed down on her shoulder until she laid down. Tears flooding down her cheeks.

Her quick heart rate was picked up on the monitor. Which worried Iida, he didn't want the doctors bursting in... Not yet.

"I'm so sorry I-" Nova stammered, she laid down and bit her thumb. Trying not to completely fall apart again.

"You have no reason to apologize Kurayami." Iida whispered, he glanced around frantically.

Nova could have sworn last night he had called her by her first name... But everything was so fuzzy... Maybe he hadn't, maybe she had imagined it.

"I should be thanking you... You saved my life." Iida continued, his glancing around had stopped. But it almost seemed like he shouldn't be in there.

He was wearing his own hospital gown, with bandages wrapped around his shoulder. The one stain stabbed, if he was another patient here, he should be in bed at this time. He looked at her with a serious expression, one that made Nova nervous.

Or would have if she wasn't already in hysterics. She wiped her eyes several times and sniffled. Trying to hold by her small sobs by biting her own thumb.

How could Iida talk to her right now? When she just proved she was everything he had been afraid she'd be? A murderer. A villain. A monster.

"I'm the one who should apologize to you, I never intended to bring anyone there..." Iida whispered. Nova bit down on her thumb, only vaguely listening to him. Only vaguely noticing the pain.

"I'm just sorry you had to be there..." He looked down at her with a sad expression.

"When I killed Stain."

"I will purge this world of every false hero. I will end this corrupt society and bring about a new era. One with true heroes." Stain said, holding his sword up.

Nova wished he would die.

It came down.

Slipping from his fingers and clattering to the ground. He stumbled, backing away from Iida. Blood ran down his chest...

A sword was sticking out of his heart.

The very down one he had dropped earlier when fighting Nova. It now found itself buried in his chest, straight through his heart.

It has happened before he could even react. Iida picked up the blade, his paralysis finally wearing off. In one quick movement he plunged it into stain's chest. Grunting with effort as metal ripped through bone and flesh.

He did it to save himself, to protect Nova. He did it because them being in the Alleyway was his fault anyways.

He pushed stain backwards, the blood from his shoulder wound staining the handle and sealing his guilt of the crime.

Stain Died.

Iida sat in shocked, letting the sword stay implanted in stain's chest as he fell backwards. Iida didn't move... Until Nova started to cry.

She sobbed, likely because of what she had just witnessed...

Murder.

"W-what?" Nova whispered.

She stared up at Iida in confusion, her tears still fell... But the sobbing ceased. "But... No... No I thought..." She shook her head, closing her eyes and trying to remember.

She had killed Stain... She was sure... Her quirk had... Moved the Sword...

"You thought what?" Iida asked, he looked confused... But the confusion looked forced. Behind it was worry, and a dark need...

A need for her to forget.

"I... I... Killed him." Nova whispered again, wiping her eyes with one hand and bearing her teeth into the other. She broke the skin.

Iida's eyes darkened and he cast a quick glance at the door. Nova didn't notice. "What are you talking about? I stabbed Stain... I understand you're disoriented right now..."

Nova shook her head, not understanding. "My quirk-"

"-Doesnt work unless you're able to move... Correct?" Iida asked, his tone was suddenly impatient.

"W-well yeah-"

"And you were paralyzed when Stain was killed... Not to mention the fact that your quirk was too exhausted to be used at all... That's what the doctors said right? It would have been impossible for you to have done it." He explained calmly.

This had been thoroughly thought out.

"But I felt it-"

"You probably sensed the metal moving without being able to see me holding it. You were under a lot of stress... Events like last night can get confusing." Iida said, then his expression softened slightly. "Please... Don't blame yourself for this... Not when it was all my fault."

Nova closed her eyes, she was still crying. But now it was out of confusion rather than horror at having killed a man.

She felt baffled and lost but... Relieved.

She felt someone touch her hand, her balled fist against her mouth. Her teeth sunk into her thumb. He carefully guided it away and pressed it against her chest.

"You... Shouldn't do that." He advised, holding his hand over hers for a few moments. For a second their eyes connected, locked as they had been multiple times throughout the school year...

This time he held it. His gaze connected to her silver eyes until she shied away.

"Thank you... Iida."

Sobs.

They made Iida jerk awake from the little sleep he had gotten after leaving Nova.

He thought that talking to her would have made them go away. But he couldn't get them out of his head.

He sobs and screams from that night were completely gut wrenching. He woke up and swore he could hear them. He hated them.

He would do anything to ensure he never heard them again... To ensure she never cried like that again.

The pain in her voice had been unimaginable. The burden she had felt in that moment was so obvious to Iida he almost felt as though it truly had been him who killed Stain.

He came into that situation ready to do it and then immediately tell law enforcement everything that has happened. He had been prepared for prison....

But not for taking a life.

He couldn't do it....

But Nova did.

Nova showed up and gave everything to save him. He could feel the sanity she had left leave in the moment she sobbed over what she had done. She sobbed until she passed out.

So Iida took the sword, making sure to stain it with his own blood. Making sure everything looked right and natural. Making sure no one knew what Nova had done.

Even Nova herself would be ignorant to it. That way her screams would quit haunting him...

It was all his fault anyways.

So he snuck out of his hospital room. He made sure he'd been the first person Nova could talk too. So he could tell her the lie he had formed to protect her...

Protect her...

That wasn't something he had ever expected he'd want or NEED to do. Kurayami had never struck him as someone who needed to be protected. But maybe he purposely ignored her weaknesses. She did seem like a fragile soul now that he thought back to it.

But that didn't matter now.

Now he was the only one who knew what truly happened that night. Nova, the police and pros that showed up just ten minutes after the death, the paramedics and the hero commission...

They were all fooled. Because even though Nova was the daughter of an infamous villain... It was completely impossible for her to have committed the crime. Besides Iida would have fought tooth and nail to make sure her name never even showed itself in any news reports.

As far as the police were concerned Iida was a good kid who fell into temporary insanity when his brother was injured... Causing him to hunt down and kill a man that was responsible for several attempted and successful murders.

And Nova was just a victim in their crimes. A fellow student who tried and failed to help her friend, only putting herself in danger after already being severely injured from saving hundreds of civilians the morning before.

But then the police started to cover it up. The lie shifted, they changed the story again to protect Iida. So As far as the press and Japan were concerned...

Stain was somehow mysteriously killed during the Hosu Nomu attacks.

His body was found in the aftermath that morning. They checked his fingerprints and linked him to the murders. The famous hero killer had met a mysterious and... 'accidental' end.

No one really knew the truth.

All Iida knew was that he confessed to premeditated murder... And was hushed by the police and hero commission. Before being told he was just going to be shipped back to UA and that he should pretend that none of that happened.

He couldn't help but wonder... If the truth was revealed...

Would they do the same for Kurayami?

A/n: So you all knew I was gonna cover the stain arc... And that obviously Nova was gonna be involved.

So I hope it was still exciting<3

Obviously there were some changes to the anime, in case you missed them:

•The pro hero native was murdered by stain. (Instead of surviving with injuries like in the anime.)

•Neither Shoto or Midoriya made an appearance. (A reader once noted that Shoto was sitting with their group before the stain arc, unlike in the anime where they didn't become friends until then. Obviously I changed that on purpose to establish the opposite. After Midoriya's little pep talk during the sports festival Shoto and him became friends in this fic)

•Stain is dead (duh)

Iida after lying to and gaslighting Nova and literally everyone involved with the Stain incident:
