Bionic Flames

Marcus

ArielleViennant

Aura's POV

Memories came back in a flood. Not all of them, but a lot of painful ones. Marcus and I playing in the grass. Playing in a lab. A figure with a cloudy face stabbing him in the back with a needle. Screaming. Marcus lying in my lap. His life fading. I cried over him. Then, the cloudy figure sat next to me. She stabbed a scalpel into my eye. I lost my sight and the memories stopped. I touched my eyepatch and cried. Someone was holding me. I clutched some fabric from their shirt and sobbed. When I came back into it, I realised it was Chase. He hugged me. Douglas was looking down. After a minute, I sat back down and demanded, "How did you get his DNA? You didn't murder him, but you couldn't have gotten it without meeting his murder. Or conspiring with her." He looked back up. "My ex offered me a vial of DNA because I'd talked about making an android. Serena Harper. We'd been working on the bionics and androids, but she disappeared after that happened. I'm sorry." I looked down. "She disappeared so she could experiment on me. She stabbed my eye," I touched my eyepatch again. "and left me unconcious. She dragged me off to somewhere, probably Illinois in that home I blew up, and experimented on me for 12 years. 12 years. She put me in tanks of water, which burnt me, and did all kinds of tests on me. Forced me to molecular overload, which is what you saw me doing before I came here. Embedded me with new bionics every month, though I didn't count. At one point, she stopped, mixed with pyrovortex. I got a bionic ability every year. The tests got worse and more often. I was kept in a tank like the capsules with some cuffs on. Now that I'm 17, I have 17 abilities. She set it up so I get a new ability once a year, but it appears when I'm in danger. Truthfully, I'd rather not have my memories. I can give you a list of my current bionics, though." I sighed. "I'm sorry." Douglas said softly. "It's not your fault my aunt was a murderer." Chase eyed me weirdly, cautiously. "Your aunt?" I nodded. "Serena. The last thing I remember before the pyrovortex accident was her smiling creepily then looking really scared. She's no longer a Harper, though." Chase looked at me funny again. "What is her name now?" Douglas asked.

"Serena Krane."
