62: 𝑇ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑙
"Hey..."
Bakugou turned around with a frown. Staring at the man who opened up the door to his room. He hadn't expected such an interruption. Especially not one from him.
Bakugou stood up. "All Might?" He asked with a frown. The man hadn't approached Bakugou for no reason before. It made Bakugou feel on edge.
"Sorry for disturbing you... May I come in?" The man asked. He seemed sad... Well he actually always seemed sad these days.
His former proud smile lost to time.
Bakugou slowly nodded and All Might came in. Bakugou was sitting at his desk, Miso curled up on the bed. All Might pet the cat gently and then turned to Bakugou.
"I'm sorry. I know this is odd."
Bakugou didn't deny it. Just watching the man.
"It's just..." He sighed and looked down at Miso. "I wanted to thank you... For catching Todoroki. It's likely he would have been able to get away if it weren't for you."
Bakugou's eyes widened slightly. Then he looked away with a frown. "You don't have to thank me. He was a villain so I took care of him."
"I know you're hurting." All Might put a hand on Bakugou's shoulder. "Has... Has Midoriya gotten a chance to speak with you since the fight?"
Bakugou looked up at him. "No?"
"I suspected as much. He's spent all day with Aizawa and Nezu. Telling them everything he knows. After I got back from the police department he caught me for a moment. Told me to tell you what started all of this." All might said.
Bakugou stood up. He had been waiting all day to get this information. To be told how the fuck they figured out it was Todoroki.
"I was also wondering..." All Might whispered cautiously. "If you'd come with me somewhere... I'll explain what happened on the way."
"Where?" Bakugou asked with a frown.
"I... I have an apology to make. I think... You might be interested in coming as well." All Might responded somewhat cryptically. "It's a long drive though. And I have to make a few stops along the way... Don't feel like you have to come though."
"I want too." Bakugou nodded. "I want to come." He felt nervous and he wasn't sure why. He was intrigued as well.
All Might smiled softly.
"Thank you."

The two had stopped at a shop. To Bakugou's surprise it was a florist. When all might walked in the old woman behind the counter simply smiled and said she would have the flowers out in just a moment.
He didn't even tell her what he wanted. It seemed as though he had been here enough times that she knew what he wanted.
Bakugou held two bouquets of flowers in his lap as All Might drove. Soon the cityscape faded as they drove for two hours into the countryside. All the time was used to explain everything All Might knew about the situation.
Kira had gotten ahold of Midoriya's blood.
Of course she did. She was brilliant. If anyone could get a message out when kidnapped by the league it was her.
All Might told Bakugou about how she found out Todoroki had killed Mineta. How she solved her case. But Todoroki knew he had to get rid of her to save his own skin.
Which made Bakugou want to kill the bastard even more than he did earlier.
All Might's voice broke when he told him that Kira was injured. Midoriya had said she admitted to not even being able to get up.
Then he told him one final thing.
"Midoriya said she asked to pass on a message to you." All Might glanced at Bakugou.
As he promised her Izuku had kept her confession to himself. Refusing to rely it unless he knew she was dead. But he was willing to pass on her other request.
"Huh?" Bakugou asked. Excitement spiking.
"She said... That she was sorry for 'Hitting you' and that you would understand what she meant." All Might said. He looked just a little curious.
Bakugou stared and then chuckled. Laughed as tears spilled down his face. "Of course she would say that..."
All Might didn't ask for an explanation. Just pulled up to an old house and turned off the car. Him and Bakugou wordlessly got out. Bakugou followed him curiously. There were no signs of anyone living there though.
No lights or cars. But it was also well maintained. A small little house tucked into the countryside. In a field cradled by woods on either side.
Bakugou followed as All Might walked around it to the backyard. He walked up a hill to the top where a cherry tree stood. Bakugou's eyes widened as he noticed the base. Things clicking together in his mind.
Two tombstones.
Dedicated to Mr and Mrs Kokoa. Kira's parents. Bakugou was standing infront of Kira's parent's final resting place for the first time.
"This is Kira's inheritance." All Might looked around the yard. "It's where her family lived. I own this hill but my property stops here. I've been fighting for years to purchase the house. Finally closed on it a month ago. The landowner her parents had been renting from had been tight fisted and didn't like heroes much... But he passed last year and gave it to his son. Who had no problem letting me buy it."
"This... Is where she grew up?" Bakugou whispered. All Might nodded.
"I'm giving it to her when she turns Eighteen." All Might said as they made it up to the top. He looked down at Bakugou. "Might end up in both their names too..." He thought. Hiding a small smile at the thought.
"I was planning on taking her here today..."
"For her birthday?" Bakugou guessed. He had been avoiding thinking about it. It devastated him knowing she was somewhere imprisoned today.
All Might nodded sadly. "I figured if she couldn't make it this year... She'd want you to come."
"Thank you..." Bakugou whispered. Holding the flowers as she stared at the stones that represented Kira's parents. They weren't extravagant. But they weren't cheap either. Standing proudly side by side with inscriptions running down the bottom. The dates of their births and deaths along with for her mother:
'Loving mother, wife, sister and daughter.'
And for her father:
'Loving father, husband and son.'
"I wish I had known to put brother on his as well." All Might said with a frown. "I didn't know much about her father. I'll confess I was a little prejudice against him for awhile." He admitted.
"Why?" Bakugou asked. Kneeling next to him and putting the flowers down.
"I blamed him for how her life was." All Might admitted. "When we were Kids Nora had such big dreams. Talked about wanting to be anything from a princess to a police officer. She just wanted to be something great. But she put those dreams aside when she had Kira so young... When she got married to him. I thought he prevented her from being what she wanted. But I think I was wrong..."
All Might put a hand on his sister's stone. "I think... Kira gave her the purpose she had been looking for. That in the end she found out she wanted to be a mother instead of a police officer or CEO or fire fighter. I think she realized that she was something great. But I was too small minded to understand that being a mother had just as much purpose as being a pro."
Bakugou didn't say anything. Just listened.
"She loved Kira more than life itself. She proved that to me when she was dying.... Kira's father died in the crash immediately but... Nora made it to the hospital. I was there when she passed. The only thing she had been concerned with... Was Kira. That's all she talked about. How she wanted me to take care of her..."
All Might choked and bowed down infront of her grave. "And I failed. Over and over again. I was so consumed by grief that I left. After that I hated myself and was scared of the guilt if feel when I saw Kira. When I came back all I felt was agony over my failure. So to avoid the feeling Instead of making amends like I should of I just avoided Kira and buried myself in my work. I couldn't look at her without seeing my sister as she died. Without hearing her last words. I couldn't stand it."
All Might sobbed with his face to the ground. Bowing down to the grave.
"I finally started to get my shit together. I finally started to fulfill my promise much to late... And then I lost her. Her worst nightmares... Her parent's worst nightmares all came true and it's because I failed." All might sobbed. "All my life I managed to save millions of people. I didn't know their names and I've forgotten their faces. Why... WHY CAN'T I SAVE MY FAMILY?! Everyone in my family have met tragical fates. Now my one remaining family member is hanging between life and death and I CAN'T save her. I'm no hero. I never was. I'm a fraud!!"
Bakugou just stared at Nora Kokoa's headstone. Unable to think of what to say.
"I'm sorry for burdening you with this Bakugou..." All Might whispered. "And I'm sorry for asking but... Can you leave us alone for a moment?"
Bakugou nodded and stood up. Thankful to leave All Might as he had a mental breakdown. He walked down the hill back to the house.
But He could still hear All Might sobbing on the hill.
