A heartbeat...
Thump thump Thump thump
Kira could listen to it for hours.
Hands ran through her hair carefully. Her head resting on his chest as she paid close attention to his heartbeat...
Thump thump
Her eyes were closed as she breathed carefully, breathing in that soothing caramel scent that she was absolutely addicted too. She tried not to think about the time she had heard that heartbeat stop. She held him tighter. It was here again. Everything was okay.
They laid together for a while. Both were awake but neither said anything. As Kira just laid on top of him. Taking him in. Taking in the fact that he was alive. She didn't know why she still needed that reassurance. It has been over a month since she woke up. But still... Still she needed this... To check it sometimes.
Her grip on him tightened.
"I'm okay Kira... We're okay... Just like I promised remember?" Bakugou said with a small smile. "You should listen to me more often... I'm kinda smart."
Kira smiled. Gripping his shirt, her head still carefully laid on his chest. "You are smart." She agreed with a smile. He grinned.
Bakugou was smart.
If him and Kira had been caught like this in the dorms Aizawa would have probably raised hell. He was serious at those limitations he set on them.
But with the league gone Students were now allowed to stay in their own homes instead of dorms if they so desired. Most students came home for the weekends.
Kira and Katsuki were no exception. And the Bakugous didn't care much about What they did. As long as they were safe, responsible and didn't bother the older couple with extreme PDA.
So here they were, in his house. One that Kira basically lived at. I mean her apartment had been sold and then destroyed in the big battle. And her childhood home while she loved it... Was fairly far away.
Besides the Bakugous loved her staying there. Especially now that they knew her and Katsuki were officially together, not just pretending to be friends. Kira loved them too... They felt like her real family.
Not to say she loved them more then her real family... They just felt more... Conventional.
More Normal than her uncle and her insane imprisoned cousin.
Though she was making significant progress with Shigaraki... Or rather Tenko.
His real name, Tenko Shimura. Which he asked her to call him. Apparently both 'Tomura' and 'Shigaraki' were given to him by All for one. And he was very much not fond of the dead man.
Neither was Kira.
Bakugou's fingers ran through her hair gently. Playing with each individual messy black lock. Drawing her attention from her thoughts about her family.
"Hey I... I made you promise... Remember?" He asked her. She shifted to sit up on her elbows. Laying beside him with a smile.
"Mhm..." She said with a small smile. Propped up beside him, looking down slightly. She waited for him to keep going.
"So? What do you want? We can go tomorrow... Whatever or wherever you want." He asked, slightly sitting up too. He cupped her cheek.
"Hm... I'm not sure. I mean..." Kira smiled and started to chuckle Suddenly.
"What?" Bakugou asked, smiling softly too. For no reason other than the fact that she was laughing.
"Well... The last date I went on..." She laughed again, covering her mouth with her hand. "Was with Midoriya." She laughed.
He looked at her in confusion. "You what?"
"Remember? My uncle tried and set us up before we even started UA." Kira laughed. "I told you."
He looked at her then chuckled. "Right... Fuck I forgot all about that... That's what you said the first day you sat down with me. Then you made fun of him." He covered his forehead with his hand. "At least I know I can confidently top that."
"I don't know... He took me on a lovely walk in the beach." Kira said with a light laugh.
God that seemed like years ago. A lifetime ago. The day her uncle tried and set her up with Izuku Midoriya. She had changed so much since then... They all had...
After that she overheard Shigaraki's thoughts...
How had she not known? She picked up on his plans for attack but... Not anything else. It was laughable. She had been living next to her own cousin... Possibly for years. And had no clue. Absolutely no clue.
She had thought she knew everything... With her quirk. She thought her knowledge was a burden. How did she not realize how limited it had been then?
She had been so... Stupid. Back then. Kira liked to think she had done some significant maturing throughout this long and torturous school year.
"Yeah right, any loser could do that. Besides didn't you totally ditch him?" Bakugou asked.
Kira smiled. "Yeah I did... Man... That seems like forever ago... We were just babies then."
"You're like... Only a year older." Bakugou scoffed.
"Yeah but so are you! And you're all grown up now." Kira argued. "Remember when you were just a little guy? Scared of sitting with anyone in the cafeteria?"
Bakugou huffed. "I wasn't scared! I was just..."
"Saving a seat for you."

"You're kidding???" Kira said, dragging Bakugou behind her. It was the tail end of their date. Fortunately able to find several good restaurants open already after the war.
The owner has been there, and he had recognized her and Bakugou. Likely because they recently confirmed through a few news articles that Athena was in fact Kira. The man had been ecstatic and took a picture with them to frame on the wall. Then gave them their whole meal for free.
An unexpected plus of saving the world was free food. If Kira had known that, she would have put out her identity way sooner.
"That's amazing!" She said with a huge smile. Genuine excitement on her face as she pulled Bakugou into a large open courtyard between a few buildings.
Bakugou smiled at her as she pulled him.
"Why didn't I know about this sooner??" She gestured up at the statue standing in the center.
"I don't know." Bakugou chuckled. "Not like I haven't thought about it."
"Not around me!" Kira laughed. "This is fucking awesome."
The statue was bronze and very new. Barely been there for a few days most likely. Depicting a young woman with large feathered wings. A hand up in the air, a fist clinched symbolizing victory and justice.
It was Kira.
"I have to show everyone." She said taking out her phone and taking a selfie with him and the statue in the background and immediately flipping off the camera.
"I figured you'd like it." Bakugou said smugly.
"This is the coolest thing ever." Kira said with a smile.
"Thought you didn't like attention." Bakugou asked, crossing his arms.
"Doesn't mean I don't want a fucking Statue in my honor. This is awesome, I can die in peace." She said and he wrapped his arms around her.
"No you can't. I won't let you." He said, burying his face in her neck. "You're not allowed."
"Oh I'm sorry." Kira chuckled. "I won't then. If it upsets you so much."
"Good." He grumbled. "Besides we have a whole lifetime of beating up villains. I'm sure the world will need us to save it again one day..."
Kira bit her lip, looking up at the statue standing over them. It was her, but wasn't at the same time. It was her, It was Tammy Tanaka, It was Star and stripe, it was Mirko, it was Nana Shimura, it was Rei Todoroki... It was her mother.
Just as the all might statute just a few blocks away represented Bakugou, represented Midoriya and Eraserhead and hawks and gentle criminal.
This statue was for all heroes. Great and small. Past present and future.
The bronze statue reflected the light of the sun setting around them. Glowing like pure gold. Glowing like her future.
Her and Bakugou's future.
Like a light Infront of them, as colorful and beautiful and vast as a sunset.
Whether normal... Or abnormal. Kira was certain...
It would be beautiful.
A/N: I'm fucking crying guys
