"How are you doing man? I mean... I haven't seen you outside of the hospital since... Well you know."
Bakugou looked over at Kirishima with a scowl. "Course I'm fine." He said. Staring down at his phone screen.
Checking the time.
Bakugou had been obsessively checking his phone. His messages, the time. Even The news.
Kirishima was right. This was the first time he's been out of the hospital for longer than a few hours. He slept there, ate there.... He did everything there, it was basically where he lived for the time being.
"Really? I mean... I get it Bakugou. I really do but... You gotta take care of yourself too buddy." Kirishima said with a frown. He of course also spent a fair amount of time in the hospital with Bakugou. Most of the class visited Kira now and then. Some more than others but who could blame them? They had their own struggles since the war.
Three weeks ago.
It was nearing a month and both comatose patients were still asleep.
"I'm taking plenty of care of myself." Bakugou grumbled. "When is this dumb thing gonna be over anyways?"
"Come on Bakugou!!! It's The big three's graduation! Enjoy it!" Mina giggled. "Kira will be fine I promise. Her uncle is there right?"
"Course he is... He's there more than I am." Bakugou admitted. Though All Might spent most nights sleeping. Which ironically was when Shinsou was most active. The three men had gotten pretty accustomed to each other. "But still..."
"How's she doing?" Denki asked, his leg bouncing up and down. They were all sitting in the crowd together. A teacher was making some boring speech. The students whispered lightly to each other. "Any change?"
"No big ones..." Bakugou whispered. "Well... She squeezed my hand back yesterday..." He said with a frown.
"Really? Isn't that a good sign?" Jirou asked.
"Maybe but... We tried it again. You know seeing if she did it in a pattern. Or in response to anything but... It didn't happen again." He admitted. Clinching his jaw.
He had been holding her hand one morning. After he woke up from a brief sleep. He could remember it all vividly. He told her good morning and squeezed her hand.
She squeezed back.
It sent him into an excited shock. He called the doctors who noted the progress but after a few tests. They chopped it up to being a random muscle twitch. Nothing more.
"Oh... But that's still good." Kirishima smiled reassuringly.
"Right..." Bakugou looked down at his phone again. Then back up.
Then he felt a buzz.
His pulse quickened and he immediately rechecked the screen.
Stop checking your phone. You're making ME anxious.
He glared at Shinsou Hitoshi. Who was sitting across the aisle the graduates walked through. Sitting with his own class frowning at Bakugou as he glared and typed out his response.
You're always anxious
"You and Shinsou are pretty close now right?" Kirishima observed. Seeing the Interactions.
"Huh? From general studies?" Denki asked. "The cool mind control guy?" He asked with slight interest.
"Yeah him. He's always visiting kira too right?" Mina asked. He's been in the room the few times she came to visit. Which wasn't as often as she would have liked.
"He's mainly there for Tammy but... Yeah." Bakugou grumbled. Pocketing his phone.
"You guys need to stop talking." They turned and saw Aizawa sitting behind them. Glaring. "This is a ceremony. These kids deserve respect." He lectured. He was still missing an eye and a leg. But he's gotten away from the war fairly unscathed. Thanks to Kurigiri.
He wished he wasn't. As a teacher he'd prefer to be the one in a Coma right now. Instead of Kira.
"Sorry sir!" Kirishima whispered as they turned their attention to the front. Mirio was up now. Talking with a smile, he surprisingly didn't open with a joke. As many students expected.
Bakugou rolled his eyes and crossed his arm. Forced to pay attention to the graduation. Normally maybe Bakugou would have found it interesting. But his mind was just too preoccupied at the moment.
What if something happened? Not something good... But something bad. What if Kira...
He shook his head. She wasn't going to die. He had to remind himself she was in stable condition. And was in no danger of suddenly dying or going braindead. Everyone else was right, nothing big was going to happen in the few hours he was gone.
Buzz
He ignored this one. Arms crossed over his chest with a scowl. Sending a glare at Shinsou, who was also on his phone. Texting Bakugou to pick on him, as though he didn't feel the exact same way.
As though Aizawa hadn't dragged BOTH of them out of that room and made them get ready this morning.
While he lectured them about responsibility and supporting their upperclassmen Bakugou knew the old man was just worried about them. How they weren't taking care of themselves.
Bakugou could feel his presence right over his shoulder. Looming behind him ready for a lecture.
Buzz buzz
Bakugou glanced to the side. Within seconds every phone around him went off. Most were in vibrate, some had ringtones turned down while others were quite loud.
All from his class.
"Oh my God! Oh my god-" He heard Mina say quite loudly.
That's it. Bakugou took out his phone and rolled his eyes. It was just a message from the stupid class groupchat. He opened it before he realized who it was from.
I lived... Bitches
The up roar of excitement that came from his class as they all opened the message and saw the same thing was impossible to contain.
Along with the short message sent from Kira's phone was a selfie of her taken in her hospital flipping the fucking bird.
Awake and very much alive.
"Holy shit."
"Oh my God!!"
"Did you see it?!"
"Look!!"
"She's aliveee."
"I knew it-"
"What's going on?"
The sudden commotion from the class caught a lot of people's attention. Monoma turned in his seat with a glare. "What's wrong with your class?!?" He whisper-yelled at them.
"LOOOK!!!" Mina almost flung herself over the seats between them and showed him her phone. He stared for a few seconds and his eyes widened.
"Is she okay?! Did she send that???"
"Quiet down!" Aizawa lectured.
"Mr Aizawa look!!" Mina turned the opposite way in her chair to show the teacher behind her. "Kira's alive!!!!"
They all processed their shock in their own ways. Aizawa grabbed the phone and looked over the picture intently. As if trying to make absolutely sure it wasn't faked.
"Bakugou did you see-" Kirishima turned away from the rest of the group, a huge smile on his face. Not only was Kira AWAKE. But she was obviously very much herself. He was excited to see Bakugou's reaction.
Only so see an empty seat beside him.
Bakugou was gone.
A/N: Also totally random but if you're a writer then I highly suggest this movie
"The man who invented Christmas"
Based on Charles Dickens as he writes one of his famous books "A Christmas Carol" and it is utterly hilarious and relatable to me.
My family watches it around Christmas but it's totally awesome on its own. No matter the season.
