The rest of 1A and the other students preparing to leave campus stood at the gate. Saying final goodbyes to their families and to their friends.
Midoriya hugged his mother tightly, crying real tears before putting on a brave face for Kota and Eri. Smiling and talking to them, assuring them it will be okay, that he would see them again soon.
Uraraka tried to hide her tears from her family. But seeing them reminded her of why she was doing this. Reminded her of all the other families that were in danger because of all for one.
Mina threw her arms around her step dad, her biological one hugged them both while crying shamelessly.
Denki bent down and scooped up his little sister with a big smile. The only moment you could see is fear was when he hugged her close and looked over her shoulder.
"Mom..." Bakugou said. Walking up to his own parents, his mother wasted no time. Pulling him into a hug.
"Katsuki." She whispered with a sniffle. "Do good out there okay? Win. Like you always do." She sniffled, hiding her face in his neck.
"I'll be fine Mom... I'll be back before you know it okay?" Bakugou pulled back, wiping his nose. "So stop your crying."
He wasn't allowed to tell them exactly how dire this was going to be. He couldn't reveal their plan to anyone who wasn't directly involved. As far as anyone knew the students were relocating to help in the search of all for one. Not for the final war.
But all of them seemed to realize how dangerous this was going to be... Even if they thought it was simply because they were more exposed when outside of UA.
"Damn it. Can't we just talk about something normal?" His mom asked, pulling away. His father wrapped an arm around his wife.
Bakugou looked at her for a second. Understanding how she felt, wanting to pretend like her teenage son wasn't matching into battle like a soldier.
"...me and Kira are together." He muttered, looking away. "You were right, I really like her." It was the only "normal" thing of notable value he could think of telling her.
His mother's crying turned into a grin. "Aww!!! My little boy is all grown up!" She hugged him again. "I was always a little worried you'd never find someone with that temper of yours! But as soon as I saw her I knew she was the one!"
"Ugh! Stop yapping! Just be cool about this okay?" Bakugou pulled away. He suddenly felt comfort, the interaction was starting to feel so much more normal. Her nagging, Him acting all frustrated. It was what he was used too. What he wanted to remember.
"You better treat her right!" Mrs Bakugou ordered. Then she whispered. "Now I'm not supporting it but if you ever need more c-"
"Shut up!! It was weird the first time you fucking gave them too me!!" Bakugou yelled, pulling away and frantically looking around, making sure none of his classmates heard what she almost said.
"Well you were moving into co-ed dorms and I'm too young to be a grandma! I figured it wouldn't hurt to-"
"AHHHH STOP!!" Bakugou yelled, covering his ears. He wanted this to end, and he wasn't ever going to admit that he had in fact used what she gave him when he moved out.
"I told you it was a bad idea." Mr Bakugou said to his wife.
"SHUT UP!!! STOP TALKING ABOUT THAT DAMN IT!!!" Katsuki yelled, pulling away from them both.
"Alright alright! Just behave yourself okay?" His mom said, her smile softening. "And take care of yourself. I love you okay?"
"I love you too... Both of you." Bakugou said, looking them both in the eye. He said it without screaming or complaining or acting like he didn't mean it. He was being serious about it.
Deep down...
That scared them more than anything.

"Hey wait."
Kira felt a hand wrap around hers and pull her aside. Katsuki.
"When..." He started to ask but stopped. Pulling her beside the fortress. The wind blew through their hair as he held her hand tightly.
"...me and Midoriya leave in twenty minutes. I... I wanted to get some air." She let out a breath. "This is really it huh?"
"It is..." Bakugou whispered, holding both her hands in his own. He was wearing most of his hero costume, missing the big stuff. He waited to put on his gauntlets and shoulder gear on until the last minute. "What's the plan? Where are you going to be?"
"I'm staying behind with Aoyama and Fatgum. To help pick off the stragglers." Kira told him. He nodded. "And you'll..."
"I'll be fine. With the combination of me, Deku and the modified UA campus Shigaraki won't stand a chance." Bakugou assured her. "Thanks to your plan we'll bring him to the perfect place to defeat him."
"Right..." Kira nodded. "But... What if something goes wrong?"
"I'll handle it." He shrugged. "Come on... I'll be okay." Katsuki said softly, leaning closer to her. He was trying to reassure her, but Kira could tell that underneath the surface he was just as worried as she was. That he was scared... Just like she was.
Sometimes Kira wished she wasn't a mindreader.
"Okay." She whispered. "I'm just worried that... That I'm starting a war that we won't win. If everything goes bad... It'll be my fault."
"It's not gonna happen, and if it did it wouldn't be your fault." Bakugou said with a sigh. "Kira... Sure a thing or two in your plan might go wrong. But you just have to trust us to be able to handle it."
Kira nodded, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. "Mkay..." She said, not able to put full effort into a response.
"Okay." Bakugou kissed the side of her head then pulled back, cupping her face. "I love you. We're going to be fine." He promised, looking her in the eye.
"...okay." Kira whispered.
"Say it like you mean it." Bakugou frowned.
"Okay." She said again, though it lacked enthusiasm it was a little more confident than the last one.
Bakugou leaned in, gently kissing the scars on her cheek. "We're going to be okay." He repeated, this time to convince himself.
"Okay." Kira said again, trying not to cry.
His lips brushed the white scars on her cheek and brow, before they brushed their way to her lips. Kissing her softly and pulling back. "After all of this shit is over... I'll take you out on an actual date." He whispered. "Hard to tell people we're dating if we haven't even gone on one since we've been together."
Kira laughed softly. "Where?" She asked.
"Anywhere you want. Might be hard to find a good restaurant open in Japan right now though... But we'll think of something." Bakugou mumbled, holding her waist. He pulled her into another hug, holding her tightly. Kira felt his fear spike as he thought about the situation they were in.
In mere minutes she'd be leaving... Leaving with Midoriya to go and trigger the final battle. If anything went wrong...
This would be their last moment together.
"...Sounds like a date." Kira whispered, looking up into his eyes. Trying to hold back her own tears as she saw one slip from his.
She wiped his cheek. "I'll see you then."
