One time I had to go somewhere
And I didn't tell you.
I thought that I'd be able to go and
come back before you arrived home from college.
I was late.
You had a key of the book store so
I didn't think that much about it.
I took my time and arrived home a bit late maybe around 9 p.m or something like that.
It was a good thing I made it an hour before curfew.
Once I walked in I saw you sitting on the chair behind the front desk waiting for me.
You looked up at me but you didn't seem happy.
You looked angry and disappointed.
You stood up and walked pass me towards the front door and locked the door then pulled the blinds down.
'Soo Yun... Are you ok?' I asked you nervously because I knew that you weren't.
Your back was still facing me.
'Today I came home and you weren't here so I figured out that I should clean up and organize the books but I saw something.' You said as you turned around looking at me.
My heart started to beat faster than before. I kept repeating in my head
'Please don't say what I think you saw.'
You walked towards the shelves,
You kept walking towards the last aisle.
I followed you because at that moment you were out of my sight.
Once I was standing in the beginning of the aisle and you were sitting on the floor in front of the end of the shelves.
At that moment I knew that you found out.
After you grabbed a couple of books you walked to me and asked 'Namjoon...What's this?'
You held one of the books up.
I tried to take it from you but you pulled it back and said 'You didn't answer my question.'
You threw it on the ground because I didn't answer. 'Ok what about these?'
You asked again. I didn't respond.
You dropped them on the floor.
'There's more but I just grabbed the ones that were closer to me. There are newspapers too. Even notebooks. I noticed that they're your handwriting.' You said.
'Namjoon, do you know what'll happen if you get caught?!
You won't only get sent to prison but you'll be tortured!
Why would you drag yourself into politics?!'
You yelled but not too loud just loud enough for me to know that you were angry.
'I'm not going to keep my mouth shut and watch the government control us like we're their puppets.' I finally spoke.
'We can't do anything about it. If you do this you think that you'll be able to change our country? You're putting your life on the line here.' You whispered as if you were scared someone will here us.
'Let's get rid of these so no one can find out. We'll do it tomorrow at night before curfew. We can go and burn them somewhere far where no one can see us.' You added.
'Soo Yun. Baby listen to me. They're the reason why my parents aren't here anymore.
Do you think that I'll let it go?
They took my parents from me when I was only 17.
Would you keep quiet if they did the same to your parents?' I asked.
You stayed quiet and didn't respond.
I collected the books from the floor and placed them back.
'Let's just forget about it.' I said as I held both of your hands you didn't say anything but frowned.
I knew you just wanted the best for me and I wish that I listened to you.
I'm sorry for dragging you with me.
I love you.
