"Let’s see you try to survive! A demon is going to devour your asses!! " Tengen yelled before disappearing into the trees.
You quickly jumped into a fighting stance, ready to defend and counter.
"Ugh, I hate this..."you muttered, and Tanjiro immediately stepped in front of you.
"And you, y/n and Tanjiro! It’s your job to take me down!!! " Uzui's voice echoed through the forest.
Tanjiro frowned, glancing back at you.
"I’ll protect you, y/n!! Just...stay right there."
You scoffed. "I don't need your hel-"
Before you could finish, a scream tore through the night. A body hit the ground with a heavy thud, followed by another.
"Damn it! I can't track his scent!! " Tanjiro said, panic rising.
You just rolled your eyes. "Watch me beat his ass!! " you shouted proudly.
Meanwhile, Tengen was tearing through the others, wooden sword striking without mercy."YOU'RE TOO SLOW!! " he taunted, sending one of them flying with a kick.
You exhaled sharply, darted forward, and intercepted his next swing. Your wooden blade locked with his."Nuh uh! Not on my watch" you growled through gritted teeth.
Tengen’s grin widened. "Not too bad, y/n"
Tanjiro’s eyes widened as he watched.
'𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥!! 𝘏𝘦’𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦!! '
Tengen suddenly leapt back, landing gracefully.
"Don’t stop there! Come at me again" he shouted, excitement in his voice.
You smirked, lunging toward him with your sword raised. "With pleasure!! "
Your woodden blade clashed with his again and again, each strike blocked...
Tengen kicked you with his leg, sending you flying back.
"AAAAAAA THAT HURT!!! " you yelled as you hit the ground, grit in your teeth.
You quickly got up, gripping your wooden sword, and charged at him again.
"Sorry dear, was I too rough?" He smirked, blocking every strike you threw.
"D-don't say it like that, dumbass!! "you blushed and swung hard at his side, making him grunt.
"HEY!!" he yelled, but before you could gloat, he threw you away again "YOU BI-" you shouted, hitting the ground once more, and the other remaining demon slayers lunged at Tengen to attack him.
"We can't beat you!! We don't even stand a chance, Tengen-sama!! " a random demon slayer yelled, chest heaving.
You and Tanjiro watched from the mud covered ground beside a lake, all of you exhausted and dirty.
"We promise we'll get better to reach you, Kamado and y/n's level!! " another one added, determination in their voice.
"Now that's what I'm talking about!!" Tengen smirked, winking at you. "Good job darlin! You motivated them!! "
You rolled your eyes. "Since when do you act like this..." you murmured under your breath.
"You too, Kamado kid! Nice job!" Tengen yelled over his shoulder as he started walking away.
"WAIT FOR MEEEEEE!! " you shouted, sprinting after him, Tanjiro dropping the guy he was helping and running after you.
𝔸 𝕗𝕖𝕨 𝕕𝕒𝕪𝕤 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣..
You were with Tengen, his three wives, and Tanjiro, watching all the other demon slayers train.
"Despite their flaws, they're still making progress..." Tengen said, arms crossed, watching the group work hard.
"We might've defeated some upper ranks, but Muzan Kibutsuji is still ahead of us. This will never end" he said, turning his gaze toward you and Tanjiro"I'm counting on you two " he added, nodding seriously at both of you.
Suma stepped forward, patting your head with a big grin. "Y/n!! Very good work!! "
"Yeah!! You caught up with them even though you came after they did!! " Makio said excitedly, while Hinatsuru smiled warmly.
"How about we go shopping for some gifts for you, y/n? Since you'll be leaving soon!! " Hinatsuru suggested, beaming at you.
"Ooo really??? " you asked, bouncing on your toes.
"YES!! Go change out of your training uniform!! " Tengen said, a small smile on his face. Tanjiro looked dumbfounded beside you.
"Uhm, can I come along?" he asked shyly, glancing at Tengen.
"Uhm, yes, of course you can" Tengen replied, hesitating slightly. You noticed it 𝐡𝐞 actually 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭ed to 𝐬pend some bonding time with 𝐲𝐨𝐮 and his wives 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲.
"Yay!! " you shouted, skipping off to the mansion to change.
Once changed, you met Tengen and his wives in the hall. Suma and Makio were holding small shopping bags, and Hinatsuru was fiddling with a list.
"Okay, y/n, here's the plan" Hinatsuru said, smiling. "We'll take you around to a few stores and get everything you might like. Tengen-sama promised we could take our time today, so no rushing."
Tengen gave you a playful grin. "Yep, today you’re our spoiled brat . Just don’t forget to eat, darlin."
"Yes sir, chef!! " you said jokingly, making him chuckle.
As you stepped out,the air felt fresh. "Alright, first store" Makio said, pointing toward a small boutique. "You like clothes, right? "
"Clothes?? I LOVE EM duh! I can't say no to that!! "you replied, practically bouncing on your heels and Tanjiro chuckled.
Suma took your hand. "Let’s go!!! " and they all led you inside.
"You know" Tengen said quietly as you tried on a kimono "you actually look good in everything."
You smirked, twirling. "Oh really? You gonna keep complimenting me all night, flashy?? "
"Maybe" he said with a sly grin.
Suma elbowed him lightly. "Tengen-sama! You're being obvious!" She whispered, making sure you didn't hear.
You ignored them and turned to Tanjiro. "What about you, Tanjiro? What do you think?"
"It suits you so well, y/n..." he said, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. "You look really pretty in it."
Suddenly, Makio appeared beside you, arms full of kimonos and dresses. "HERE!! You're gonna look so good, y/n!! " she said, practically bouncing with excitement.
"All this...for me...??? " you asked, eyes wide.
"Yes, of course! Now go try them on" Hinatsuru said, gently pushing you toward the changing room.
Meanwhile, Tanjiro was focused on finding a good accessory to match your e/c.
"Ehm, excuse me, do you have e/c necklaces?" he asked a shop assistant politely.
"Yes, of course! Please follow me" she said, leading him to a whole shelf filled with earrings and necklaces in every shade.
"There you go!" she smiled and walked off.
Tanjiro stared at all the options and facepalmed lightly. "All these...?? I wonder which one she’ll like" he mumbled.
Soon enough, his eyes landed on a stunning necklace simple, elegant, and perfect for you. He grabbed it carefully, paid for it quickly, and headed back to you and the others.
"So, finished buying from this store?" Tengen asked with a grin.
You nodded happily. "Yes!! Thanks a lot, Tengen!"
Before you could say anything else, your stomach rumbled loudly.
"Ignore that and let's go eat!! " you said quickly, blushing, and they all laughed.
You all stepped out of the store carrying shopping bags (well,your bags to be exact) . The city lights glimmered, and you could feel the faint cool breeze against your face.
"Alright, let's find somewhere to eat" Tengen said, putting an arm around his three wives as if he owned the whole world.
You skipped alongside Tanjiro, grinning. "I hope they have something tasty!! My stomach is screaming at me right now."
Suma nudged Makio and whispered, "She's so cute when she's like this…"
Makio rolled her eyes, but you caught the look and waved at them teasingly. "Hey!! Stop whispering about me, okay?? "
Hinatsuru giggled behind you all. "Let them, y/n. They think you’re adorable."
You made a face. "Adorable? Me?? I’m freaky!! okay! Don’t make me sound like a baby!! "
Tanjiro snorted softly beside you, smiling as he adjusted the bag in his hand. "You’re not a baby....just...very lively."
You stuck your tongue out at him and bounced along happily. "Lively? Ha! I’ll take it."
You all reached a small, cozy restaurant near the river. Tengen immediately led everyone inside and had the host seat you all at a big round table.
"Perfect spot! Close to the food, and I get to watch y/n’s reactions" Tengen said, smirking at you.
"Why am I always the center of attention with you, huh? " you asked, crossing your arms."Because you’re flashy, of course" he replied, mock serious.
Suma and Makio giggled, while Hinatsuru just rolled her eyes.
You picked up the menu, pretending to study it but really just checking how many desserts they had. Tanjiro noticed and nudged you.
"Are you really just looking at desserts?" he asked softly.
"Maybe… maybe not," you said, shrugging. "You’ll see. I have my priorities"
Tengen laughed loudly
Soon, your table was filled with food...steaming rice bowls, skewered meats, tempura, and desserts that made your mouth water.
You grabbed a piece of sushi with your chopsticks and held it up dramatically. "Behold! The power of food!! "
Tanjiro rolled his eyes but smiled anyway
Suma leaned closer. "I like her..!!it’s so...refreshing how she acts!! "
You grabbed another piece of sushi and stuffed it into your mouth, not bothering with elegance. Rice stuck to your fingers, a little sauce dribbled down your chin, and you quickly wiped it off before anyone saw.
"Mhm..oh wow..that’s.....SO good...!! "you moaned, chewing happily as you reached for another piece. Tanjiro beside you quietly passed you some soy sauce without saying much, just giving a small, knowing smile.
Tengen leaned back slightly, watching you with a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes because he wasn’t grinning at your words, he was just watching you,the way your hair fell over your face as you tilted your head back for a bite. The way you scrunched your nose when something was too salty. The way your eyes sparkled every time you got a taste you loved.
Suma and Makio exchanged a glance, and Hinatsuru let out a quiet chuckle. None of them said anything though.
Tanjiro, sitting so close to you, kept his focus on making sure you had everything you needed, passing things quietly and watching with that same soft smile he always had.
Soon enough, it was time to head home."I really enjoyed today!!" you said, stopping mid step.
"Mhm, how about you spend the night and wait for tomorrow to go to Muichiro's estate with Tanjiro, of course!!" he suggested.
You shook your head, about to protest, but were cut off.
"𝐘𝐞𝐬. 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠." His tone was firm this time, insisting.
You let out a long sigh and finally agreed. "Fine...but only because you asked so nicely."
He smirked, clearly satisfied, and you all headed back together.

Tanjiro quickly caught up to you and called out, "Wait!! I have a little something for you, y/n!!"You stopped in your tracks and raised an eyebrow. "Huh? What is it?" you asked, curious.He pulled out a small box and held it out to you. "It's a gift I got for you while you were shopping with Tengen and his wives!! "
You laughed and hugged him lightly. "Awww, thank youuu!! But I really don’t need anything, Tanjiro!!"
He shook his head, cutting you off. "I 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭. Take it." His tone left no room for debate.
Slowly, you opened the box. Your eyes widened. "OH MY-!! TANJIRO!! It's so pretty!!"
Excited, you jumped at him, and he quickly caught you before you both hit the ground.
"R-really?" he asked, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks.
"I'm glad.." He said softly, smiling as you hugged him again.
You both stayed like that for a moment, just holding onto each other before you said handing him the small box"Well, help me put it on, will yaa?"
Tanjiro nodded, carefully taking the necklace. His fingers brushed yours for a moment as he lifted it, and you felt a small, warm flutter in your chest.
"Alright, hold still" he said softly, gently fastening the necklace around your neck.
You tilted your head slightly to give him better access, and when he was done, the pendant rested perfectly against your collarbone, catching the soft light.
"There...all done" he whispered, a faint blush rising on his cheeks.
You looked at it, then up at him with a big smile. "Thank you, Tanjiro...!!! it's perfect."
He gave a small, shy smile in return, his eyes lingering on you longer than usual before you both finally entered your room..
You jumped on your bed and let out a tired sigh. You turned your head to see the other demon Slayers you shared the room with already sleeping.
"Looks like we're the only ones awake" Tanjiro said quietly, sitting down beside you.
"Yeah yeah, time for me to join them!! " you said, letting your body sink into the mattress. You closed your eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.
𝕀𝕟 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕕𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞...
"YORIICHI!!! I MISSED YOUUU!! " you yelled, throwing yourself at him. He chuckled and patted your back gently.
"Alright calm down. I thought I shouldn't bother you since you were already training, you know?" he said, looking at you with a soft, loving gaze.
"Stop looking at me with those eyes!! And wow?Also,That's unexpectedly kind of you," you huffed, turning your face away.
"What eyes?" he asked, still smiling, his voice calm and warm.
You peeked at him from the corner of your eyes and grumbled, "Those eyes… the ones that make me feel like I'm gonna melt if I look too long!"
Yoriichi chuckled softly, shaking his head. "You always know how to exaggerate, y/n."
"Exaggerate? ME? Never! " you said, puffing your cheeks. "Anyway, I'm so glad you are here!!! "
He smiled wider, brushing a stray strand of hair from your face. "And I am glad you are here too..more than you can imagine."
You blinked, caught off guard by how gentle he sounded. You took a small step closer, your arms instinctively wrapping around him again. "Promise me you won't leave..not now."
Yoriichi rested his forehead against yours. "I promise...Not now, not ever."
You laughed softly, letting yourself relax in his embrace.
"Y/n... the Upper Moons, there's something bad that's gonna happen to you. Be careful, alright? From what I heard in their meeting,they're searching everywhere for you... so only leave in the daylight." His tone turned serious as he spoke.
"Huh? Why me!! But whatever... fine. Also, thanks for warning me!!" you said, pecking his cheek.
"Enough about the sad stuff. Tell me more about how I was with you in my past life!!" you added,excitement evident in your voice.
"You used to be so scared of cockroaches back then" he said.
"Oh? Well I still am" you said blankly.
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I remember how you'd scream and jump on the nearest thing when you saw one.. "
You rolled your eyes and huffed. "Yeah, yeah, don't remind me. I still hate them."
"Even now, you haven't changed much," he said warmly, looking at you like he was memorizing every single thing about your face
You blinked at him, a small smile tugging at your lips. "And you've always been... too calm about everything, huh?"
He laughed quietly. "I guess that's true. But it’s kind of nice, being able to stay calm while you freak out."
You shook your head, laughing softly. "I think that makes you weird."
"Maybe. But I like it..." he said simply, and his eyes softened as he looked at you.
You blinked again, your heart skipping slightly. "J-just finish what you were saying!!"
"Mhm... I remember one time during training, you accidentally hurt me really badly. My back ached for days, and you didn't stop apologizing, covering me with kisses and gifts," he said, smiling softly at the memory.
