Your eyes cracked open slowly. The first thing you noticed?
Pain.
Second thing?
You were moving.
Your face twisted in pure murder. “If I wake up in one more random-ass person’s arms, I swear to god—”
You glanced up to see Inosuke’s boar mask looking down at you.
“Oh. It’s the naked boar again,” you grunted. “Put me down before I puke on your chest.”
“I SAVED YOU, DUMBASS!” Inosuke shouted, offended.
“And I didn’t ask. Congrats, hero, now put me the fuck down.” You kicked your feet until he finally dropped you—not hard, not gently either. Just enough for your back to thud against the dirt.
You groaned. “God, this era has no chill. No beds. No ibuprofen. No deodorant. I hate it here.”
Zenitsu skidded over dramatically. “Y/N-CHAAAAN! YOU’RE AWAKE!!”
“Unfortunately,” you deadpanned.
He dropped to his knees beside you like you were the lead in a tragic romance.
“I was crying!! I thought you died!! My life flashed before my eyes, and all I saw was YOU!!!”
You stared at him, unblinking. “Can it flash forward to the part where you stop talking?”
Tanjiro rushed over with a look of soft concern. “Y/N… are you okay?”
You raised a brow. “No. My joints are screaming, my face is covered in dried blood, and the last thing I remember is getting yeeted across the street like a demon volleyball. Do I look okay to you, Kamado?”
He flinched. “Sorry…”
You sat up with effort, swearing under your breath as your spine popped like bubble wrap. “Where’s my damn sword?”
“Over there,” Tanjiro pointed gently. “By the rubble.”
You stood up with the enthusiasm of a dead fish. “Cool. Hope it still works. If not, I’m stabbing someone with a stick.”
Zenitsu opened his mouth again, but you cut him off before a sound came out. “Don’t.”
He froze.
You grabbed your sword, checked the blade, and muttered, “At least this thing didn’t bail on me.”
Inosuke stomped over, arms crossed. “You’re not even gonna say thank you?!”
You shot him a death glare. “Thank you for carrying me like a sack of potatoes. It was deeply humiliating. I’ll treasure the memory forever.”
Tanjiro tried to speak up again, “We were all really worried ab—”
“I don’t care,” you said bluntly, rubbing your temples. “I just woke up. I haven’t had food, water, or peace since this arc started. Y’all can trauma bond later. I need to sit in silence for ten business days.”
Nezuko peeked out from behind the box. You softened. A little.
“…Hi baby,” you mumbled, patting her head. “You’re the only one here who’s allowed to breathe near me.”
Zenitsu sniffled in the background. “I can’t believe I’m not even in her top five…”
You turned, eyes glowing with fake sympathy. “You were never even in my top fifteen. Now go be unconscious somewhere.”
He dramatically collapsed onto a tree stump.
You cracked your neck, stretched like an old man.
You turned around slowly, dragging your feet with a groan. Zenitsu was curled up nearby, sniffling quietly. Tanjiro looked like he’d been emotionally sucker-punched, and under Inosuke’s boar mask, you swore you heard a sniff or two. The sight made your chest tighten.
You rubbed the back of your neck. “…Ugh, damn it.”
With a deep sigh, you walked over to Zenitsu and crouched beside him. His eyes peeked up, red and watery, expecting the worst.
“Hey…” you muttered, voice softer than before. “I’m sorry for snapping, Zenzen. I didn’t mean to make you cry, okay?”
You patted his head gently, a little awkward but sincere. “I was overwhelmed. That’s not your fault.”
Zenitsu blinked at you, stunned. Then he immediately threw himself into your arms. “Y/N-CHAN!! I THOUGHT YOU HATED ME!!”
“Bro—okay! Chill! I don’t hate you,” you huffed, hugging him back loosely. “You just… cry a lot and I was losing brain cells. But you didn’t deserve that.”
You brushed him off gently once he calmed down, ruffling his hair with a slight smile. “I’m glad you’re okay, crybaby.”
Zenitsu sniffled and nodded, trying to act strong. She… apologized. I’m never washing my soul again.
You turned to Tanjiro next, who was still staring at the ground like he kicked a puppy. “Tanji…”
He flinched, then looked up at you slowly.
You sighed, stepping closer. “You didn’t deserve that either. I was scared and hurting and lashed out like an asshole. That’s on me.”
You nudged his arm with your fist. “You’re not some burden I have to protect, okay? You’ve always had my back. I’m sorry I made you feel like you weren’t enough.”
Tanjiro blinked at you, his lip trembling a bit, then he smiled—relieved and warm.
Before you could say anything else, Inosuke stepped forward. You turned to him, and he froze mid-step, his mask tilted down slightly like he was trying to hide something.
“…You too,” you said.
He flinched. “Wh-what about me?! I didn’t cry or look sad or anything!”
You raised a brow, then sighed, softer now. “I know. But I still hurt your feelings, didn’t I?”
He didn’t answer, but he looked away quickly, gripping the edge of his mask.
You stepped closer and gently poked his chest. “Hey. You carried me, right? You were gentle. I… noticed.”
You reached up and tapped the boar mask lightly. “Thanks, Boar Head. You were really cool.”
He stiffened. “Tch. Of course I was.”
You smiled, then leaned your forehead lightly against his shoulder. “I’m sorry, Ino. For real.”
His breath hitched just slightly, and you heard him mutter, “You better be.”
You pulled back and turned away, face flushed.
Behind you, Zenitsu wiped his face with a huge grin, Tanjiro finally looked relaxed, and Inosuke stood frozen, heart pounding like crazy behind his mask.
"Also, you guys deserved it," you muttered, arms crossed, voice still raspy from sleep. "How many times have I told you—if you wake me up, I’ll be too grumpy to communicate… Mhm?!"
All three of them nodded slowly like guilty puppies.
"I—I tried to stop them, Y/N!" Tanjiro blurted out, raising his hand like a student trying to prove his innocence.
You side-eyed him for a second, then smirked a little. "I know, Tanji. You’re the only one with some self-preservation."
He looked relieved, while Zenitsu let out a small "Traitor..." under his breath.
You took a deep breath and opened your arms. "Alright. Come here, dumbasses."
Without hesitation, all three of them lunged into the group hug like it was a battlefield charge. Zenitsu clung to your side like a koala, Tanjiro hugged you gently but firmly, and Inosuke practically tackled all of you, boar mask squishing your cheek.
You sighed loudly, head flopping back. "Ughhh… I'm stuck in a cuddle sandwich with no escape."
But your hands still found their way to pat their backs.
After a few seconds of comfortable silence, you mumbled under your breath, "When are the little gremlins gonna arrive?"
Zenitsu blinked. "Little gremlins…?"
You waved a hand lazily. "The Kakushi. The squad of tiny overly polite workers who come in like ninjas, drag us off for medical care, and clean up the mess like we didn't just nearly die."
"Ah," Tanjiro chuckled. "Yeah. They should be here soon."
"I hope they bring snacks," you muttered. "And a blanket. And maybe a time machine so I can sleep through the rest of this decade."
Inosuke grunted, still clinging to you. "You're so weird."
"Thanks. I try."
And for once, the chaos stilled, if only for a moment.
Soon enough, all of you started drifting off, eyes fluttering closed, exhaustion finally winning. That’s when the Kakushi arrived, quietly carrying you all away to safety.

The first thing you noticed was the smell—f/f. (Your favorite food)
You sniffed, groggy. “Where the hell…?”
Your voice came out rough, dry. Your eyes fluttered open slowly, the light stinging at first. Then shapes came into focus—faces.
Worried, tired, teary-eyed faces.
"Y/N—!" Zenitsu’s voice rang out, just as Tanjiro smacked the back of his head.
"She’s awake!!" Zenitsu still screamed.
"Shut your damn hole, Zenitsu…" you grumbled hoarsely, squinting. “My ears still work.”
Before you could process anything else, you were immediately smothered in hugs—Zenitsu, Tanjiro, Inosuke (still wearing the boar mask like a weirdo), Kanao, and Aoi all crushed you in a chaotic group hug.
Tanjiro pulled back first, tears welling up fast. “Y/N… you’re finally awake.”
And boom—like someone turned on a faucet, the rest of them started crying too.
“What… what even happened?” you muttered, still half-asleep and deeply overwhelmed.
“You were in a coma!! For two whole months!!” Zenitsu sobbed, clinging to your arm.
“Ohhh god damn???” you croaked, blinking rapidly. “No wonder I feel like a half-dead rotisserie chicken.”
You barely turned your head and caught sight of something even more shocking—a ridiculous amount of gifts piled up in the room. Like mountain-sized.
“Eh—?! What’s with all that??” you asked, pointing weakly at the colorful chaos.
“Everyone came to visit you while you were asleep,” Aoi said gently, her voice thick with emotion as she wiped her eyes. “And they brought gifts every time. That’s… that’s all for you.”
“…Damn. Okay emotional damage incoming.”
You leaned your head back against the pillow, closing your eyes again with a sigh.
“Alright. One of you better feed me f/f before I die a second time.”
The room erupted in relieved laughter. Even Inosuke grunted something that sounded suspiciously affectionate through his boar mask.
Shinobu’s voice, though soft, carried the same terrifying weight as a blade at your throat.
“𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐎𝐮𝐭. 𝐍𝐨𝐰.”
The temperature in the room dropped ten degrees as every single person jumped like startled cats.
Zenitsu whimpered.
Inosuke froze mid-scratch.
Tanjiro scrambled to his feet and gave you a half-bow before whispering, “Rest well, Y/N…” and speed-walked out like his life depended on it.
Once the room cleared, you let out a long, dramatic sigh and sank further into your pillow.
“Finally. Silence. My one true love.”
Shinobu gracefully made her way to your bedside, setting down a tray of herbal tea and medicines.
She sat beside you, still wearing that signature smile—warm, unnerving, unreadable.
“I’m glad you’re okay, Y/N,” she said after a moment, voice softer now. “Everybody was so worried about you. We all thought… you wouldn’t wake up.”
You blinked at her slowly.
“Damn. Y’all had zero faith, huh?”
Her smile widened just a bit. “Not at all. I had plenty. But still… it’s a relief.”
She poured a cup of tea and handed it to you gently. You took it with a grunt, not bothering with pleasantries.
“You should rest properly. No sneaking off. No sword swinging. No yelling at Kakushi.”
You stared at her, deadpan. “You're asking me to stop breathing basically.”
She chuckled quietly.
“Just for a little while,” she said. “You’ve earned it.”
You sipped the tea slowly, eyes fluttering half-shut from the warmth.
“…Thanks, bug lady.”
Her brows twitched. “It’s Shinobu. But… you’re welcome.”
“I know??”
And for once, the room stayed quiet.
Just then, the door slammed open.
“Y/N-CHAAAAN!!!”
Three Kakushi tumbled inside carrying trays of steaming soup, stacks of bandages, and what looked like… a carved wooden figure of Nezuko???
You blinked. “Why is there a tiny hand-carved Nezuko doll.”
One of them beamed. “We made it for emotional support!”
“…It looks cursed.”
“It’s made from demon-slaying tree bark! Very protective.”
Shinobu’s temple twitched. “Out.”
“But we just—”
“𝙊𝙪𝙩.”
The Kakushi bolted, nearly knocking over a medicine tray on their way out. One tripped, caught himself, saluted you, and slammed the door behind them.
You exhaled, slumping back against the futon.
“Why do I attract chaos like a damn magnet…”
Shinobu chuckled from her corner. “Maybe because you are chaos.”
“Unnecessary, but fair.”
She walked over, checking your pulse with cool fingers. “Rest. The others will be back soon. I told them you needed peace.”
You closed your eyes, letting the warmth of the blanket and Shinobu's quiet presence ease some of the buzzing in your chest.
“…Thanks, bug lady.”
“You’re welcome, gremlin.”
