As Uzui continued lunging toward Gyutaro, his speed picked up in a blur of movement. Sparks exploded around them with every clash of metal, Uzui’s blade slicing through the air while Gyutaro flung his blood sickles like deadly boomerangs.
"I can read it! That filthy score of yours!" Uzui smirked, eyes locked on the rhythm of Gyutaro’s attacks like it was a symphony of death—and he was the conductor.
Gyutaro’s expression twisted with alarm.
He deflected all of my rotating circular slashes?!
Their weapons clashed again—Uzui’s twin nichirin blades meeting Gyutaro’s blood sickles mid-air—and the impact sent out a thunderous shockwave that cracked nearby tiles and kicked up ash from the ground.
The explosion of light and force was unreal.
You stood back for a second, eyes wide, watching them go head-to-head with insane speed.
“Wow…” you mumbled in awe, switching to English without even thinking, “It looks even better in real life.”
“Huh? What are you saying, Y/N? Are you speaking… English?” Tanjiro blinked, confused but still focused.
“Yuh huh. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, Tanji,” you replied with a small grin, flipping your sword into a defensive grip. “Focus on the neck-chopping part.”
The tempo of the fight climbed—Uzui dodged a wild slash from Gyutaro and countered with a spinning swing, nearly taking his arm. Gyutaro snarled and recoiled, throwing two more scythes in retaliation.
Tanjiro, waiting for the opening, sprang forward with his sword aimed directly at Gyutaro’s neck.
"DON’T STOP. JUMP!!" Uzui’s voice cut through the battlefield like a gunshot.
Tanjiro leapt without hesitation.
But Gyutaro wasn’t about to let him land that blow so easily. One of his sickles whipped toward Tanjiro’s jaw—too fast, too close—
“Hell no,” you growled, lunging into action.
You parried the blood sickle mid-swing with a loud clang, sparks flying from the force of the clash. Gritting your teeth, you twisted your blade and sliced straight through Gyutaro’s arm before it could reach Tanjiro.
"GO!" you shouted.
Tanjiro didn’t waste a second. His sword swung down in a clean arc.
He clenched his jaw, pouring the last of his strength into the blade. His vision blurred, his body screamed, but he didn’t stop—not until Gyutaro’s neck finally gave way, his head sliding off his shoulders in a clean, searing arc of victory.
At the exact same moment—
Daki’s head flew, too.
Across the battlefield, Zenitsu and Inosuke stood victorious, their bodies trembling from exhaustion and injury. Daki’s head hit the ground with a dull thud, her eyes wide in disbelief.
It was over.
Almost.
Tanjiro collapsed to the ground with a thump, his sword clattering beside him. You dropped beside him a second later, lungs on fire, vision swimming with black spots.
“KAMADO! Y/N! GET UP!! IT’S NOT OVER YET!!!”
Uzui’s voice tore through the smoke like a blade.
Your eyes widened just in time to see the growing light—an explosion.
Gyutaro’s final attack.
You didn’t think. You just moved.
You grabbed Uzui’s hair, and Tanjiro’s leg with the other, dragging both of them with you as your legs burned and the world behind you began to glow with crimson heat.
“FUCK MEEEE,” you wailed mid-sprint, stumbling but still pushing forward, “I SWEAR—IF I WASN’T TRYING TO HELP AND YOU TWO WEREN’T SUCH EMOTIONALLY DAMAGED, SHIT-LUCKED, BLEEDING HEART HOT IDIOTS—”
BOOM!
The explosion ripped through the street behind you, engulfing everything in fire and red mist.
“—I WOULDN’T GIVE A FLYING DAMN ABOUT YOU TWO!!!”
Debris rained from the sky.
Nezuko’s small body tumbled from the shattered wooden box, the force of the explosion ripping it open midair. Her eyes fluttered open mid-flight, glowing a deep crimson. Though dazed at first, something ancient stirred in her blood—protect.
With a sharp breath, she landed on her feet, tiny frame radiating heat.
Flames bloomed around her like sakura petals—rosy, burning pink fire that ignited the remnants of Gyutaro’s deadly attack. The slashes that should’ve finished everything burned away.
Time Skip
The world was quiet now. The ground still sizzled under the aftershock, the scent of ash and blood thick in the air. But it was over.
You lay there, chest heaving, your entire body aching like you’d just been run over by a freight train and emotionally slapped by Sanemi. You groaned softly, eyes fluttering open.
Sunlight—faint and warm—peeked through the ruined buildings.
And there she was.
Nezuko.
Kneeling beside Tanjiro, her tiny hands gently patting his cheeks like she was trying to wake a sleeping puppy.
"Nezuko..." you whispered, voice raw but full of awe.
She turned to you—and immediately bolted over, letting out a muffled “MHMHMH!!” as she launched into your arms, hugging you like a warm, tiny missile. You winced slightly, but smiled through the pain, wrapping your arms around her as tightly as your broken body would allow.
You leaned in and gently kissed her forehead.
"Nezuko..." you said softly, brushing a hand over her hair. "Can you do that fire thing again? For me, Tanjiro... and the others?"
You tilted your head, giving her your best puppy-dog eyes.
She paused for a moment—then gave a determined little nod. Her eyes glowed with focus, and she stepped back, lifting her hand.
With a quiet hum, Nezuko’s blood demon art flared to life again, her fingertips igniting with soft, pink fire. She walked toward you first.
The flames touched your wounds—not painfully, but like a hot spring enveloping sore skin. Warm, pulsing heat spread across your chest, arms, and legs. Deep gashes stitched themselves back together. Bruises faded. Your breathing eased. The worst of the pain melted into a distant throb.
“Holy crap... that’s better than a butterfly mansion IV bag,” you mumbled, flexing your fingers in awe.
Nezuko then padded over to Tanjiro, who was slowly stirring after hearing your voice and Nezuko’s.
"Mm... Nezuko... Y/N...?"
"Tanji, don't move," you warned softly, “she’s got you.”
Nezuko placed her hands gently over his chest and released the same healing flames. Tanjiro's eyes widened slightly as the warmth washed over him, his cracked skin and battered ribs slowly repairing beneath the soft flicker of pink.
“…She’s amazing…” he whispered.
You smiled softly, laying your head back on the ground again. “Yeah… she is.”
Nezuko started giggling, her tiny fangs poking out as she clasped your hand in one and Tanjiro’s in the other, walking with her usual happy bouncy steps like you three didn’t just survive literal hell.
"Here, Nezuko!! Do the same thing!!" you said, pointing toward Inosuke, who lay not far off, breathing but barely—his chest rising and falling in short, painful jerks.
Nezuko gave a big, determined nod and skipped over, crouching beside him like a baby nurse on a mission.
She raised her small palms and put them on inosuke's chest.
A soft whoosh of warmth followed, the now-familiar pink flames flickering out from her hands, curling around Inosuke’s wounds like ribbons of cherry blossom fire. The burns and deep gashes across his torso began to fade, the bruising lightened, and his breathing slowly steadied.
He groaned loudly and sat up halfway.
"UGH—WHOA! WHAT THE HELL—?! WHY AM I BEING LIT ON FIRE?!"
"Chill, boar boy," you said with a grin, hands on your hips. “That’s healing fire. Nezuko just saved your ass.”
“…OH.” He blinked. Then, after a second: “WAIT DID I DIE?! AM I IN HELL?! WHY ARE YOU GUYS HERE TOO?!”
You snorted and walked over to flick his forehead. “Yes. This is hell. And I am the devil. Now sit still before I make you do math.”
Inosuke hissed and flopped back dramatically.
Tanjiro let out a breath of relief, smiling through his exhaustion.
Nezuko beamed, her pink eyes shimmering like the flames themselves.
You gently patted Nezuko’s head, her soft hair tickling your palm as she looked up at you with curious, sparkly eyes.
“Alright, cutie,” you said with a small smirk, voice a little hoarse but still full of sass. “I’mma go find Gyutaro and Daki’s heads, alright? You stick with your big bro. Tanjiro babysit the queen, yeah?”
Tanjiro nodded, wiping a bit of dried blood from his jaw. “Be careful, Y/N.”
You waved him off, turning on your heel. “Yeah yeah, I know—be careful, don’t die, blah blah blah. I got it.”
You winced as your legs still ached with every step, but you pushed through the pain. The burning scent of ash and demon blood still hung heavy in the air as you made your way across the wreckage-strewn battlefield. Chunks of rooftop, shattered tiles, collapsed wood everything was barely holding together.
You hopped over a broken beam, scanning the area.
“There you are…” you murmured under your breath as your eyes finally locked on the two severed heads lying near each other—Gyutaro’s twisted scowl still frozen in place, and Daki’s wide, teary-eyed face contorted in horror.
Both heads lay just a few feet apart.
You crouched down.
You picked Daki's head up gently, cradling it like it was a crying child—though your face was anything but sympathetic. Her furious, tear-stained eyes glared up at you, trembling with rage and fear.
"Hey, shush…" you whispered, brushing some of her blood-matted hair back with mock tenderness. "No need to yell. You lost. Screaming won’t change that."
She thrashed in your arms, which was honestly kind of impressive for a decapitated head. "IT’S BECAUSE OF YOU!! ALL OF YOU!! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO WIN! MUZAN-SAMA PROMISED—!!"
"Yeah, well." You tilted your head and sighed. "Muzan also looks like a 2005 pop star, so I’d take his promises with a grain of salt, babe."
"ONI-CHAN!! DO SOMETHING!!"
You turned your gaze slowly to Gyutaro's severed head nearby. His one eye fluttered open, barely. His mouth twitched like he wanted to say something, but no words came out yet—just blood bubbling from the corner of his lips.
"You two really are something…" you muttered, your voice quieter now. Not mocking. Not cruel. Just… tired. "I get it. You loved each other. You fought like hell to stay together. But that doesn’t mean you weren’t monsters."
Daki sobbed, still glaring up at you, her voice hoarse. "He said… if we ate more, we’d be beautiful… we’d be strong…"
"And he lied." You let her rest in your lap now, more gently than before. "That strength cost you your humanity."
You looked up at the sky, smoke curling past the ruined rooftops. “But hey… for what it’s worth? I hope… whatever comes next for you two... it’s better than this. Less pain. Less blood.”
Daki and Gyutaro's faces had already started to ash away, but Daki suddenly shouted out, voice trembling.
“Y/N… It’s true we’re not friends. But I… I started feeling something. Especially when you got hurt.” Her voice cracked. “I felt—sad. And I wanted to help you. To protect you. I-I… I think I like you…”
You blinked at her.
“…Huuuuh?” you said, completely thrown off.
“YOU HEARD ME!!” she huffed, cheeks flushed even in her fading form.
You snorted lightly and smiled. “Alright, cutie.”
You gently patted her head. Her eyes widened at the contact—before her expression softened. She looked at you like no one ever had before.
Then you turned to Gyutaro’s head lying nearby. “And you…”
You put Daki’s head down with care and picked his up instead. Gyutaro glared at you, face scowling—but the blush on his cheeks said otherwise.
“Put me down, human!” he growled, clearly flustered.
You tilted your head. “Nah. You’re kinda crusty, but I guess I have a soft spot for dramatic bugs.”
His eye twitched. “You’re seriously insane…”
You grinned. “Maybe. But I did just hug your sister’s head, so we’re all a little messed up tonight.”
He groaned but didn’t resist and he blushed instead
You held his head for a moment, gazing at both of them. “Y’know, for demons, you two were… a lot. But I get it. You were just trying to survive. Just like us.”
Daki’s voice came again, quieter now. “I hope you don’t forget me…”
You looked at her with a sad smile. “I won’t. You were dramatic as hell… but kind of iconic.”
The ash started to rise with the wind. Slowly, quietly, the two siblings crumbled side by side—together even at the very end.
You exhaled deeply, the battlefield finally silent.
“…Damn. Someone better bring me snacks after all this,” you muttered, brushing the ash off your hands and turning back to find the others.
