While you were walking... you spotted Kanao standing quietly near the garden.
You tilted your head and walked up to her, noticing how spaced out she looked.
You snapped your fingers dramatically in front of her face.
"Earth to Butterfly Princess?"
She blinked rapidly, finally snapping out of it. When she looked at you, her cheeks turned a little pink.
"Y-Y/N? What are you doing here?"
You yawned like a dramatic diva. "Idk... I got bored inside. The walls aren't fun to talk to."
"...Mhm..."
"So what are you doing here? Staring into space like you just saw the meaning of life?"
Kanao smiled faintly. "I just wanted to look at the flowers..."
"Awww, you're right. They're actually kind of slaying today."
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear nervously.
"Y/N...? D-Do you want me to... um... make you a flower crown?"
You grinned. "Yes, please! I don't know how to make one anyway. So you're literally doing a community service."
Time skip
You sat quietly while Kanao wove flowers into a crown, her hands moving gently. The garden was peaceful... until something soft landed on your head.
A butterfly.
Kanao glanced up and froze when she saw it gently sitting on your hair. Then, her eyes trailed back to your face.
'Since when does Y/N look so...'
"Done!" she said quickly, handing you the flower crown.
You held it like it was made of gold. "This is SO pretty. Thank you, Kanaoooou~"
She blushed harder, looking away. "I-I'm glad you like it..."
She was about to say something else when-
"MINION!!"
You didn't even have time to breathe before Inosuke tackled you.
"INOSUKE?!"
The butterfly flew off your head just in time before full impact.
Kanao looked pissed. Like... tiny-knife-smile level mad. Her glare could cut steel.
"You pig-headed menace! You almost crushed me!" you said, shoving him off you.
"LISTEN TO ME, MINION-I NEED HELP ESCAPING."
"From what?!"
He pointed at Aoi in the distance, who was marching toward you with a plate in her hand. And let's just say... she looked like she was about to commit murder.
"Ohhhh noooope-sorry bro."
You stood up and backed away slowly. "I gotta go-good luck, tho!"
And just like that, you sprinted out of the garden.
Time skip
You were lying down now on the porch, staring at the sky.
"I'm so bored... Everyone's got missions..."
Tomioka? Out.
Sanemi? Out.
Mitsuri? Gone.
Obanai? Poof.
You sighed dramatically.
"Yoriichi?"
He appeared like a shadow ghost. "Yes?"
"...Why is Shinjuro kinda... hot?"
"...He's 57."
"And I asked? He can still get it."
Yoriichi blinked in silence.
"I'm going to see my brother now."
"Don't act like you're not judging me!!" you called after him.
"I am judging you."
"RUDE."
He disappeared around the corner as you shouted, "COME BACK, ZADDY 2.0!"
You flopped onto your back.
"Whatever... I'll just talk to the clouds."
You were chilling outside the Butterfly Mansion...Life was peaceful well that's you thought- The breeze was nice. The birds were chirping. Your brain? Empty.
Until you heard-
"A-AHH-Y/N! H-HEY! U-UHM!"
You blinked. Looked up.
There was Zenitsu standing awkwardly nearby, holding... flowers? Crushed ones? His face was red like a tomato, and he looked like he ran a marathon just to get to you.
"Zenitsu," you said flatly. "Did someone die?"
"N-NO! I mean-wait, what?! NO!"
He took a deep breath and held out the slightly mangled flowers.
"I-uhm-wanted to know if you'd maybe... wanna... hang out with me today?" he said, almost squeaking. "Just the two of us? If that's okay? I mean if you don't have other-cooler-people to see like Sanemi or Giyuu or-"
You grabbed the flowers.
"Damn, they're so dead they look like me during math class," you said. "Sure, why not? I was bored anyway."
Zenitsu blinked, stunned. "Wait. Really?! You're not gonna say no?!"
"Why would I? I like watching you be nervous. It gives me serotonin."
He almost fainted.
Time skil
You and Zenitsu went into town. It started with snacks.
You raided the dango stand while he tried to act cool in front of you and completely failed.
"W-what flavor do you like? I'll buy it! Wait, no-get them all! You deserve everything!"
"You sound like a sugar daddy," you said.
"I-I'd be yours!!"
"Zenitsu please."
Then it turned into a wandering mission.
You dragged him to every single weird little shop you could find.
At one point, you bought a totally cursed mask and chased him down the street with it.
"Y/N-STOOOOP-AAAHHHHH IT LOOKS LIKE A DEMON-"
"It's literally a piece of paper with a face on it, calm down before I smack you with it."
He dramatically collapsed in the street.
Eventually you two sat under a tree, watching the sky turn orange.
Zenitsu peeked at you from the corner of his eye.
"You know... this was one of the best days ever" he mumbled.
You looked over. "Dude. We literally just bullied shopkeepers and ate twelve mochi."
"I know," he said softly. "But you laughed a lot today. And... I dunno. That made me happy."
You blinked. "Zenitsu. Stop being adorable. I will shove grass in your mouth."
He grinned like an idiot. "You already did that once."
You looked at him and smirked.
"I might do it again."
He meltedd
After Hanging Out With Zenitsu…
You waved goodbye to Zenitsu as he sulked dramatically
As you turned the corner, your sandals scuffed gently on the stone path. The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in warm orange and soft lilac. You had barely taken ten steps when.. -
“…You’re late.”
You stopped and blinked.
Standing calmly under the shadow of an old wooden post, arms crossed and eyes on you, was Giyuu Tomioka.
“…Giyuu?”
“I waited twenty-three minutes.”
You tilted your head. “You were counting?”
He looked away. “…No.”
You tried not to smirk. “Okay, mister quiet. You called me out here?”
“You promised we’d hang out...”
“Ohhhh... right. Wow, I actually kept a promise?”
“You didn’t. I had to wait.”
You gave him a side glance. “You want me to apologize or thank you for your undying patience?”
He blinked slowly. “Just come with me.”
“…Are you kidnapping me?”
“…I should’ve left.”
“Too late now. I’m yours for the evening, Water Boy.”
At the Restaurant...
The place Giyuu brought you to was tucked in a peaceful alley, hidden beneath a cherry blossom tree that leaned over the roof like a sleepy guardian. Inside, the air smelled of fresh rice, grilled meat, and something sweet. A few lanterns hung from the beams, casting warm golden light across the room.
You slid into a booth across from him.
“You actually eat at normal places?” you joked, scanning the menu.
“I don’t need much,” he replied.
“You’re telling me you live off boiled fish and silence.”
“…It’s peaceful.”
You leaned in, teasing. “You need a little chaos in your life.”
He raised an eyebrow. “I already have you.”
You paused. For a second, you didn’t know whether to grin, blush, or choke on your tea. “…Okay, that was good. I’ll give you that one.”
Later Over Food…
The two of you shared a meal—simple, but delicious. You watched him eat with quiet grace, while you, on the other hand, chewed like someone who hadn’t had a meal in three days.
“Damn, this chicken is criminally good,” you mumbled with your mouth full.
He nodded. “Told you. The chef here is old. Knows what he’s doing.”
You smiled between bites. “You’re kinda full of surprises.”
He looked at you for a long moment. “You’re not like most people I’ve met.”
“Why, because I speak my mind? Because I’m loud?”
“Because you’re not afraid of me.”
You blinked, caught off guard. “Why would I be?”
“…Most people are.”
“…Giyuu. You literally let a butterfly sit on your shoulder last week. You’re about as threatening as a sad kitten.”
He didn’t respond, but his eyes softened.
“…And you keep your promises,” he added quietly.
After the Meal…
You both walked under the dim evening sky. The streets were mostly empty, the shops closing up one by one. A light breeze tugged at your sleeves.
When you reached the wooden bridge that crossed a shallow stream, Giyuu stopped.
“I meant it earlier” he said suddenly.
“Huh?”
“When I said… I was glad to know you. That you made people feel alive.”
You blinked, surprised by his sudden honesty.
“…Giyuu—”
“I don’t… say things like that often,” he continued, not looking at you. “But I wanted to. Before you leave tomorrow.”
You swallowed. “I’ll come back. You know that, right?”
He finally turned to you.
“…You better.”
You reached up and flicked his forehead gently. “Don’t worry. Your favorite menace will be back before you can miss me.”
“I already miss you.”
Your heart did a double take. “Wh—”
He looked away quickly. “Let’s go. I’ll walk you the rest of the way.”
You didn’t argue. You just smiled.
