We finally got to the Tsuzumi Mansion.
It was huge. Like, way too big for a normal house. It looked creepy, and there was this weird silence around it that made your skin crawl.
'Wait... weren't there supposed to be kids in the bushes or something?'
You started looking through the bushes, ignoring Tanjiro and Zenitsu's confused looks.
"Y/n-?"
"Hah! Tanjiro! Zenitsu! Look!"
You pointed at the two kids hiding. They looked completely terrified.
Tanjiro blinked and looked at them, surprised.
How the hell did she even find them more like how did she know? ?
He slowly walked over and crouched down.
"Hey there. Why are you out here by yourselves?"
They just stared, not saying anything.
They're scared...
Zenitsu suddenly had an idea. His little sparrow hopped out and started doing this weird little dance.
You didn't think it'd work... but it kind of did. The kids relaxed just a bit.
"My name's Kamado Tanjiro," he said softly. "And this is Agatsuma Zenitsu. What are your names?"
"S-Shouichi... and Teruko," the boy said.
"Shoichi and Teruko? Nice names" Tanjiro smiled. "Can you tell us what happened? Is this your house?"
They shook their heads quickly.
"No... it's not," Teruko said quietly.
"This house... it belongs to a monster."
"Our big brother got taken," Shoichi added. "We were walking down the road at night and something just... showed up. It didn't even look at us. Just grabbed our brother and took him into the house."
"Did it take him in there?" Tanjiro asked.
Shoichi nodded. "Yeah..."
"And you followed it here?" Tanjiro looked impressed. "That's really brave of you. Good job."
"We followed the blood trail. It hurt him bad..."
Tanjiro nodded. "It's gonna be alright. We'll go in, defeat the monster, and save your brother."
"For real?" Teruko asked. "You'll really help him?"
"I promise."
You just stared at Tanjiro with a "what the hell did you just promise?" face.
Zenitsu looked up suddenly.
"Hey, Tanjiro... Angel-chan... did you hear that sound?"
Oh, crap.

Before you could say anything, a window above you flew open - and someone fell out.
Hard.
You all ran over... but it was too late.
He was already dead.
You just stood there, frozen.
You couldn't save him.
...
Tanjiro gently patted your shoulder and shook his head. His face was calm but serious.
Zenitsu turned to the kids, voice shaking.
"W-Was that your brother...?"
They both shook their heads.
"Our brother wears an orange haori..." Teruko said.
Tanjiro looked at Zenitsu.
"Let's go, Zenitsu."
Zenitsu started backing away. "N-No..."
Tanjiro frowned. "Look. The only people who can help right now are me and you."
"N-no..."
Tanjiro's expression got more serious.
"I'm not gonna force you."
"F-Fine! I'll go! You don't have to be so scary about it!"
You patted Zenitsu on the head.
"Zenitsu... go... good... luck."
(You know, using the tiny bit of Japanese you understand.)
Zenitsu blushed and nodded.
Tanjiro turned to the kids.
"We'll be back. If anything happens, stay near the box and Y/n will protect you."
Then Tanjiro and Zenitsu ran off toward the house.
You turned to the kids and tried to say something.
"Hi-"
Nope. They ran inside before you could even finish.
"UGHHH," you groaned.
"And then people ask me, 'Why do you hate kids?' Like bruh."
"Oh, and they really thought they could leave me, Y/n L/n, behind?"
You followed them in.
Inside the mansion...
Tanjiro turned and saw all three of you coming toward him.
He looked panicked.
"What are you guys doing here?! You shouldn't be in here! And wait-why'd you leave the box?! It's more important to me than my life!"
Before you could even blink, the house started shaking.
The floors rumbled.
Zenitsu panicked and shoved Teruko and Tanjiro with his butt into another room.
"Sorry! My butt-!" he shouted.
The room instantly changed. The walls spun. The floor shifted.
Zenitsu started crying.
Shoichi looked like he was about to pass out.
And you? You were full-on panicking.
