You had absolutely nothing to do
So obviously you grabbed your phone, your headphones, and hit play on "Daylight"
Your playlist was full of chaotic bangers and emotional breakdowns
You were vibing, head bobbing on the pillow like a sad TikTok edit
"Oh how I love it and I hate it at the same time you and I drinking poison from the same vine-"
Door slide
You paused and peeked up like a raccoon
Standing there was

And Shinobu
"Hi Y/N! Sanemi's here to help us understand you better! Hopefully you two will communicate before you start training with him"
Sanemi looked like he wanted to murder someone
"Shinobu forced me to come here and talk to you. She said I had to translate or whatever"

"Great! I'll leave you two alone. And Sanemi, don't you dare try anything with Y/N-chan. I'll know"
Her voice was sweet. Her smile was terrifying. Sanemi flinched like a scared dog
She left and now it was just you and the angry-looking anime man with no eyebrows
"So pookie what do you wanna talk about?"
"Don't call me that. I don't know she didn't give me a topic"
He sat like he was forced at gunpoint
You grinned
"Maybe I'll talk to you about your brother. Wait no you'll yell at me. Actually-"
"Oi don't zone out while I'm right in front of you!"
"Sorry not sorry pookie wookie lookie chookie mookie bookie hookie fookie bear"
He blinked at you like you just recited a summoning spell
"Pookie wookie what the hell did you just say"
"Forget it anyway"
"Fine. Brat"
"I'm gonna ignore that. So what do you do in your free time?"
"Talk to you. A trash bag"
"At least my crush isn't dead"

"Why do you hate your brother?"
Silence hit harder than your period cramps
"I don't have a brother"

He stood up like he was gonna actually throw hands when Shinobu walked in
"What's with the yelling?"

You activated Cute Mode like a villain hitting their power-up
You blinked at her with full puppy eyes
"No I didn't look at me I'm adorable"
Shinobu gasped
"She is adorable. I believe her"
Sanemi looked like he was gonna cry from rage
"You bitch"
You waved at him
"Love you too, pookie"
"Anyway I'll leave you two again. Be good"
She left
Silence
You turned to him
"Sanemi I know you have a brother. You can lie to everyone else but don't lie to yourself. If you keep acting like this you'll regret it"
He didn't say anything
"That's none of your business, kid"
"Okay moving on. Wanna hear a story"

"Cool here's one"

"So I had this best friend named Max. One day we were walking down the road and saw an abandoned house. Obviously we went inside"
Sanemi stared at you like you were insane
"There was something in the dark. Max screamed and ran like a little idiot. I stayed and looked at it. It stared back. I approached it"
He leaned in
"And?"
"It was a dead body"
"What the-"
"Let me finish"
"We followed the screams to the basement. Max, being a genius, opened it. There was a man. Holding a head. Just standing there. Like it was casual"
Sanemi was now 10x more invested than before
"We ran out, called the cops. Turns out it was a wanted criminal. So yeah, I almost got murdered. But plot twist-I lived"
He stared at you with actual admiration
"That was insane. Damn"
"I got more if you wanna hear-"
Shinobu entered again like clockwork
"Sanemi time's up. Y/N needs rest"
He stood, hesitated for a sec, then looked at you
"Later then. Brat. Don't die or anything"
He left
Not that he'd admit it, but Sanemi kinda liked talking to you
Maybe even found you interesting
But you?
You were already thinking about which story to tell him next
