Author POV:

The two pillars quickly made their way into the depths of the forest, urged on by the eerie cries of help echoing around the mountain.

Suddenly, a tiny spider latched itself onto Shinobu's leg.

"Eeek!" Shinobu shrieked as her leg was lifted into the air, leaving her hanging upside-down.

Giyu immediantly spotted the paper-thin glistening strand of web connected to Shinobu's leg and sliced through it neatly. The insect pillar came crashing back down onto the floor.

"Be careful," Giyu hissed, "We're being controlled by strands that connect to our body."

Suddenly, Giyu felt something tug at his arm and he looked down in horror to see his left arm being controlled by another strand. Quickly, he unsheathed his katana using his right arm and sliced through the strand, breaking the connection and freeing his arm.

"It was a spider," Shinobu said breathlessly, "I saw a tiny spider skuttle onto your haori sleeve and make the strand."

"Be careful of those spiders," Giyu scanned the forest floor suspiciously, "They could be anywhere. Stay alert."

The two pillars made their way further into the mountain, this time wary of any small creatures.

Suddenly, they came upon a Slayer whom looked battered-up and terrifyed. He was wearing the Corps uniform and lay hiding behind a bush.

"Hashiras!" he looked up at the two pillars, and spotting them, sighed with relief, "Thank god! We thought you'd never arrive!"

"What happened?" Shinobu bent down to his height. He was sprawled on the floor (And that's why Shinobu had to bend down, not because he was shorter than her).

"I came with a group of Slayers, but the moment we entered the mountain everyone started acting wierd. It was like they were being controlled! Everyone started killing each other. I only just managed to escape." The young Slayer was shook and trembling.

"I see," Shinobu smiled gently, "Please hide some more. We'll take care of things from here. Don't let any spiders get on you."

"Y-yes, ma'am...,"

"Can you point me in the direction of the other Slayers?"

"Just that way, ma'am...,"

"Thank you."

"Good luck!"

Shinobu left the Slayer in hiding and headed towards the direction he'd pointed at. Giyu was close behind her.

Suddenly, they came into a clearing.

Tens of bloody, battered-up Slayers lay on the floor or clutched blood-splattered katanas.
