𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓮𝓻 17: 𝓛𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓮 𝓜𝓮 𝓑𝓮
Shinobu POV:
When no-one came to the door, I rang the bell again, but still nobody answered.
Maybe he's not home....
No, he has to be. I didn't come all the way here for nothing. Besides, he didn't have any reason not to be home. Everyone had no missions today and he wouldn't be going to the party this early. He could be out buying food, or maybe he was just trying to avoid me...
"Tomioka! It's me! Shinobu!" I rapped the door lightly. "Are you here?"
There was silence for a few seconds, before I heard raspy breathing and my heart leapt.
Someone was here.
I knocked on the door more fiercly, but quickly withdrew my fist, wincing. The wooden door had sharp, uneven twigs that pierced into my skin.
I knocked, rapped and shouted for a few more minutes before I kicked the door in fustration. However, I may have kicked it a little too hard, because the door fell down with a crash.
Giyu POV:
Insistent knocking followed the empty, hollow ring of my broken doorbell. Who could it be? Nobody would think of visiting me. Barely anyone knew my address. Had someone leaked it to Tanjiro?
Well, whoever it was, I wasn't going to open the door to them. Nobody except me had stepped inside this house for decades, and that wasn't going to change.
The knocking contuined on and the sharp, loud rapping sound brought flashes of dull pain to my head, increasing my headache. Just leave already.
Suddenly- without any warning- the door fell to the floor with a loud crash. My heart lurched and I turned my head to the doorframe, wide-eyed. My heart rate increased and it felt as if it would just jump out of my chest.
Because Kocho Shinobu was standing there with one leg raised in a kicking motion, panting and putting on a grim smile, a basket in one hand.
Shinobu POV:
I froze mid-kick as I saw inside Giyu's house.
He was sitting in front of his mirror, his figure slumped before he spun his head towards me in shock. The whole estate was dark, all curtains closed and no lights on. There wasn't a single lamp in sight and the room looked ghastly, with cobwebs and dust everywhere. There were splashes of something dark on the floor and some sort of liquid was dripping from the floor onto the pavement outside- it was too dark to tell what it was.
Giyu looked horrible- as he looked up at me, I could tell from the sunlight pouring in from the door that his skin was deadly pale, there were dark circles under his eyes and he had skinnier. His haori sagged around him and there were rips on his clothes. His uniform looked grimy, like it hadn't been washed for days, and his usual neat, tied-up raven dark hair was left out and messy. His whole body seemed to be slightly trembling in a way. Giyu's sparkling ocean-blue eyes now looked dark and dull, all the life dragged away from him.
I never expected to see my foremost enemy in such a state.
Lowering my leg, finally able to recover from the shock, I whispered;
"Giyu... what... happened to you?"
A/N: I'm sorry it took so long for this chapter to come out, and that it's so short, I didn't find much of a motivation to finish this story.
However! Don't worry, this book will be contuined without any delay. I have been losing interest in watching the anime since I don't favour season three, therefore after this book is completed I will be moving on to writing more fanfiction for different animes.
I am and always will be a great fan of Giyushino. There are, altogether, four unconnected Giyushino fanfiction originals that will be complete into a set. This book will be my last Giyushino fanfiction for some time.
It's my hope that varied stories will attract more people to discover my books.
