"I made you some tea, I hope that you like cinnamon", the blue hair guy said, handing him a cup of warm tea.
"I can, thank you for being so nice", Donghyuck tried to smile but even he could feel like it's a bad attempt, especially when tears still brimming his eyes.
If there is someone he is grateful for at this moment, it would be Chenle, do doubt. After he left Mark's apartment, he has nowhere to go. He could not go back to the dormitory because he can't bring himself up to meeting all the questions that Jeno and Renjun might ask, he can't bring himself up to bump into Mark Lee. He also doesn't have the heart to go back to his brother's house because the last thing he wants, cause the Alpha who he knows that did nothing wrong more trouble so he doesn't know what to do but wander through the city, thinking about everything and nothing, about Mark and Mark. And that's when his savior, Chenle and his boyfriend appeared, they invited him home without any hesitation and Donghyuck, being the typical helpless coward he is, accepted his roommate's cousin offer.
"Cheer up a bit" Chenle sat down next to him, draping the thick blanket over his body "I'm so sorry for making such a prob-"; "Ta ta ta ta, it's okay Donghyuck, if you're Lele's friend then you're no doubt, my friend too", Eunjae said, "Please stay here as long as you like, no worries"
Donghyuck silently admired them. Both of them are so giving, so loving and welcoming, they make him relaxed a little, letting go of the tension that he has been holding against his chest for the last few hours. "You guys are too nice"
"It's not a bad thing, isn't it?", the younger flashed him a smile, grabbing his hand and gives it a friendly squeeze, "Come one, let me show you your bedroom, I think you should get some more bedroom. You look more than just physically exhausted"
The Omega immediately jumped back, "That would be too much work...for you guys"
"Oh pleaseee", Chenle rolled his eyes playfully, "I insist"

He was (lovingly forced) by the couple to change into a new set of pajamas and tucked into bed and even though he has never set a foot in Chenle's private life before, the younger makes him feels like home because of his sincerity. No filter, no intentions.
"Don't feel any pressure, don't leave if you haven't lift your mood up and umm...make yourself feel at home. As I said, you can stay at my place as long as you like, I...I mean me and Lele welcome you", the Alpha said to him, his calm voice goes through Donghyuck's ears as smooth as silk.
"We can tell Injun ge to pack some stuff up for you if you feel like it's too uncomfortable to go back", Chenle said, "But if it's something related to him then um...I guess we can always have other options"
Donghyuck thinks that there might be a lump in his throat, how could he break the news out for Chenle that he is hiding from everyone he knows in his life? "I...sort off... don't want to meet anyone right now...So, it would be great if you just...do not tell them anything about me and I'll try to come back and gather my stuff there later..."
"Is that okay?"
The younger hums, "Sure, whatever makes you comfortable, I won't peep a thing, pinky promise"
"Chenle"; "Yes?"
"Don't you feel...questioned about why I'm here?", the brunette coyly looks away, "Often, people would bombard with questions when they see an in rut Omega wandering on the streets, mated and without an Alpha"
Eunjae and Chenle quickly exchanged eye contacts before the older say, "I mean...yeah, we do have a lot of questions but it's not our place to ask when you seem that unhappy"
"Oh..", Donghyuck lets out a small noise, "Thank you for that"
"We know you are", Chenle pats his hair, "Now, even though we'd love to chat more but we have classes. I will prepare you some needed stuff for the heating session too so please, have some sleep because you need it"
He nods, and a few moments later, the curtains of the younger Omega's bedroom were shut close, a chain of murmurs telling him goodnight from the couple and it was pitch black after that.
Maybe he is sleep deprived.

When he finally woke up again, it was 6 hours later. Gazing at all the missed calls and text messages on his phone, Donghyuck knew that the older has contacted his friends and family members to search him out. He doesn't want him to do so, alerted the people around him is calling for unnecessary chaos. Chenle's texts popped up and the younger basically summed up the situation for him.
"I'm sorry because what happened was really shitty", Chenle said as soon as he picks up, "But I still haven't told them about you being at my place though, I figure I'll let you know first so you can do what you want"
Donghyuck stared blankly at the ceiling, his heart beating against his chest, it's hard to breathe. He doesn't answer right away, the younger Omega doesn't hang up either, maybe Chenle is just really good at understanding people, he is absorbing all of the information as well.
"Just in case you're thinking that way, I don't think running away is a bad thing. Yes, it's a bit careless of you running away, leaving no trace for Mark to find you but at the same time, you're of age now, you're responsible for yourself and do what you think it's right. If it were me, I would have left as well"
"You always know what to say to make people better, I'm impressed", Donghyuck whistled, "And I'll give my brother a call so that he could cool down. After all, he is my family and I don't want him to smack Mark"
"Yeah, I think you should", the younger said, stopping a bit before continues, "Mark is worried, like genuinely worried. He skipped lots of lessons to go find you"
Stupid idiot, he thought. "We are hating each other, I don't need him to be out, looking for me"
"He is your Alpha, it's not-"; "I get it, okay? You guys need to stop rubbing the fact that he is the one, I don't have the ability to be his Omega"
Chenle gulped, his heart aches when he hears how exhausted, how sad the older sounds so he just simply answer, "I respect your opinion. Drink your pills, call your brother and I'll be home with you soon. We're going to have a nice dinner of your choice and play some board games with Eunjae, how does that sound?"
Letting out a small laugh, Donghyuck answers, "It sounds perfect Lele. Have a good time at school"
"When I'm at school, I always suffer hyung"

Donghyuck wants to dig a hole, hides inside it forever and die by guilt when he hears how devastated his brother sounds when he picks up his phone call.
"Are you okay? Baby, where are you? I'm so sorry that I failed to protect you. Please, come back"
"I'm fine, I'm safe and I'm staying at a friend's house. Sorry, I shouldn't have created such mess for you guys to deal with hyung", he puts the older on speaker, playing with his finger cautiously, "I just need to give myself some time to...think about Mark and I"
"That kid is a handful. I swear to God I will-"; "He did nothing wrong!"
"What?"
"I said Mark did nothing wrong. He was nothing but sweet to me but I was being an asshole and keeping a grudge that I don't know how to get rid of since middle school so we fought and I left. He has the right to be upset with me. And, and...I'm not saying this so that you don't do him dirty or anything...", Donghyuck continued, "I'm the one in the wrong here, I just need to have everything figured out before I return. Don't worry, I won't skip classes"
The other line was quiet for a few minutes, he does hear his brother rapid's breathing though so he doesn't hang up.
"I know I'm overprotective and maybe being too nosy for a stepbrother towards you and your relationships but I just can't help it...I know we don't have the best parents, you didn't have the childhood that kids deserve to have so I want to make sure that you live a happy life."
"Mark is a nice kid and even though you guys are not in a long term relationship, I, deep inside, do believe that he means no harm at all so...I'll tell the kids that you're fine and all that jazz and you...stay safe and healthy"
The corner of Donghyuck's lips lifted up, Johnny always knows what to say to makes him feel better. "Thank you hyung, you stay safe and healthy too. And hey..."
"Yeah?", "You're the best sibling I could ask for, please continue to baby me or I'll cry"
The Alpha laughs, relieved. "You know I'll never stop doing that"
"I'll see you later, hyung"; "Gladly, baby"

Downing the heat block pills with a cup of warm water, the young Omega curled himself to a ball outside the balcony, gazing out the city sight. It's a breezing day, cold but not too cold since the sun is still shining through the thick clouds. A gloomy day. A gloomy him.
He shouldn't treat Mark this way, leaving him hanging on the state of their fragile relationship. He wants to trust him so dearly but as long as the hateful root of his heart is still not removed, he can't.
