"What's this meeting all about?"
It was supposed to be a normal day for him. Valt had just returned to Japan to reunite with his family and enjoy his favorite bey bread after long days of helping manage BC Sol and battling countless bladers around the world. The pleasure of being the Number One blader was undeniable, but the constant pressure and travel were starting to wear him out.
Resigning had already crossed his mind more than once.
"We apologize, Valt, for the sudden call at this hour, but we have an urgent matter that needs to be discussed before it gets out of hand," said Betty, one of the scientists who built the Aether stadium.
Her explanation was enough to make him frown. The fact that he was the only legendary blader called made the situation even more ambiguous. Instead of spending his time in bed, he was secretly summoned by the WBBA executives at 3:00 am. They weren't being subtle, were they? At least they sent a limousine to pick him up, which just made his mother confused and worried.
As the limousine sped through the quiet streets of Tokyo, Valt leaned back, trying to piece together why he had been called so urgently. The city lights flickered past, casting transient shadows inside the vehicle. His thoughts raced as he tried to recall any recent events that could lead to such secrecy like this.
The blue-haired blader blinked, realizing he was taking too long to reply. He offered an apologetic and honest smile to Betty, who looked anxious yet determined.
"It's fine, especially when we're dealing with something serious, aren't we?" he said.
There was no need to beat around the bush. It wasn't every day that the WBBA organization acted so secretively. The atmosphere in the limousine was tense, and Valt could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on him.
In the WBBA headquarters, the atmosphere was equally tense. Executives and scientists were gathered, their faces grave. Valt entered the conference room, noting the heavy security presence and the array of monitors displaying complex data.
"In that case, let's get to the main point already. The growing cases of Dark Resonance," Taiga said roughly.
Valt narrowed his eyes. Taiga had just dropped a bombshell. This was a really serious matter. The Beyblade world was always in danger whenever a blader fell for his dark desires. But that didn't explain why he was the only one being called. Last time, the whole S-Tier bladers were needed.
It seemed his thoughts were being read when Taiga coughed to gain his attention.
"Valt Aoi, as the Number One blader in the world and an inspiration to legions of young bladers, do you swear that everything discussed here will remain classified and only within these walls?" Taiga asked, his tone serious and foreboding.
Instantly, after hearing that ominous sentence, Valt's sleepy mind was now wide awake. He swallowed a lump in his throat and straightened his posture.
"Yes," he replied. This matter was more severe than he had thought.
Taiga nodded and signaled to the other adult named Micheal, another researcher of Elemental Power, Valt had met the other day in England. Micheal stepped forward, his expression equally grim.
"During our extensive research, we discovered something worrisome. Dark Resonance may not only be triggered by accepting dark desires. We learned that a person possessing Dark Resonance could subconsciously affect fellow bladers nearby. In our modern Beyblade world, this could be considered like a Black Death if it goes out of hand."
Valt's eyes widened at the revelation. He never thought the day would come when Dark Resonance would be treated like a virus infection.
"H-how is that possible?" he asked, the vulnerability in his voice noticeable and shared around the room. "Is t-there a c-cure?" he stuttered.
Michael exchanged a skeptical glance with Taiga before continuing. "We believe it stems from an energy imbalance within the body itself. When a blader taps into Dark Resonance, it creates a ripple effect, an unseen wave of energy that can influence others. The stronger the blader, the more potent the effect."
Valt felt a chill run down his spine. He had faced many threats, but this was different. This was something intangible, something that could spread silently and affect everyone.
"We are currently working on containment strategies," Betty added. "We're developing devices that can detect and neutralize these energy waves, but it's still in the experimental stage. Until then, we need to be extremely cautious."
"Why wasn't the whole S-Tier team called in for this?" Valt asked, still grappling with the gravity of the situation.
Taiga sighed. "We needed to approach this delicately. If news got out, it could cause widespread panic among bladers and fans alike. We need a controlled response, and as the Number One blader, your influence is crucial."
Valt nodded slowly, understanding the immense responsibility placed on his shoulders. "So, what do you need me to do?"
"We need you to help us test the containment devices and to monitor any suspicious activities among bladers," Taiga said. "Your experience and instincts are invaluable in identifying those who might be affected."
"And we need your good influence," Betty added. "The blading community looks up to you. If they see you spreading hope, then it might also create a good effect that might counter the dark resonance"
Valt took a deep breath, feeling the weight of their words. This was more than just a battle in the stadium; it was a battle for the very essence of the Beyblade world. He couldn't let his guard down, not even for a moment.
"Alright," he said, his voice firm. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect our world."
As the meeting continued, Valt's mind raced with plans and strategies. The path ahead was uncertain and fraught with danger, but he knew he had to face it head-on. For his friends, his family, and the countless bladers who looked up to him, he had to be the beacon of hope in this dark time.
The weight of the world seemed heavier, but Valt's resolve was stronger. He had a mission, and he wouldn't stop until the threat of Dark Resonance was contained. The battle had just begun, and Valt Aoi was ready to face it.
Even if it means it will break him.
