Prologue
Gerald Robotnik was distraught by the death of his granddaughter Maria. From his cell in Prison Island, he created a contingency plan for when all the emeralds were gathered in the Space Colony ARK and created another anthropomorphic hedgehog as he used the same chaos drives to create the body but imbued the memories of Maria into the body and gave her the title Project: M, after that he altered Shadow's mind to be fueled by revenge for her death without knowing he revived her in a new body.
Shadow had stopped Gerald's contingency plan from destroying humanity and stopped Black Doom. Shadow and Commander Tower both were sad about their best friend and wished they had done something about it, but it was just another memory for their past until one day Rouge and her girlfriend Topaz had entered revealing Gerald's Journal to them.
"Commander!" Rouge says. "Shadow, this concerns you too."
Shadow didn't know what to say as he read the Journal first as a folded paper fell out. it read:
Shadow: For your eyes only.
"Shadow something fell out of the Journal?" Topaz pointed out.
"I know." he said.
