Yuri Briar had some serious jealousy issues.

First, it started with his sister. Originally, after his parents died, his older sister was all he had left. She took care of him, made sure he could succeed in life, she was Yuri's everything.

After Yuri met y/n and eventually fell in love with her, he had another person he wished to protect. (Even if this person he wanted to protect was pretty good at protecting herself)

He often thought of the idea of having kids with y/n someday, only when she was ready, but would shoo away the thought when he remembered that his kids would take away most of y/n's attention.

For her to suddenly mention kids now was... out of the blue. Surprising. Shocking, actually.

Y/n hadn't spoken a word about children ever since they got married, so really it was just Yuri fantasizing and then swatting away the idea upon realizing the cons.

The young woman glanced at her husband and jumped at the sight of the look on his face, "I-I don't mean like... have kids, I mean adopt! Er... this sounds really weird out of context-"

"Yeah, it does, please elaborate." Yuri sat up and turned to face y/n, "Where'd this come from all of a sudden?"

How was y/n going to explain this one...

"A family member of mine had a kid six years ago, but passed when the boy was three. He bounced around in the system for a little bit, and I was recently contacted about the situation." y/n explained, the partial lie rolling off her tongue easily, "He's family, Yuri, and I've been thinking about adopting him. Of course I wanted to check with you first, but I'm sorry it came out like... that."

No way in hell was she going to admit to his mother being a total psychopath and turning the lady over to the Secret Police, that'd just bring up more questions which would be complicated to answer! Well, complicated to answer without revealing the whole truth.

"Oh no, you don't have to apologize!" Yuri said quickly, a little scatterbrained from the sudden information, "So, he's family?"

"My nephew." y/n confirmed before rubbing the back of her neck, 'To think we're having a conversation like this in a bar of all places. I should've waited but how else was I supposed to ask Corinne for an update?'

She caught the eye of the bartender, who was actually her assigned bodyguard in the middle of a part-time job which was coincidentally at one of Corinne's bars. He glanced towards the bathroom and y/n got the message.

That quick?

Y/n glanced back down at her ice cream, feeling rather relieved, 'Laurence works quickly.'

"I've gotta head to the bathroom real quick." y/n spoke quietly to her husband, "Go ahead and order whatever you want! I'm curious to see what you'll choose!"

"Really? Don't complain if you don't like what I order." Yuri warned and received a little grin.

"I'm sure I'll like whatever you order since I'll be eating it with you." y/n assured him before turning away and calling, "If I don't like it, I'll order more ice cream and eat it right in front of you!"

Yuri watched his wife hurry to the bathroom and sighed dreamily to himself, "And she says I need to take care of myself... I love it when she's like this..."

The bartender, Zain, gave Yuri a wary stare, 'The boss is seriously married to this man??? The hell?'

When y/n rounded the corner to the bathroom, she saw a lady exiting at around the same time. As they passed, the lady slipped a note into her pocket and continued on her way while y/n entered the restroom.

After entering a stall, she removed the note and observed it carefully. It had an address and a little note on the bottom in Laurence's hand writing with a, The kid is at an Orphanage right about now, the address is above, Oleander and his buddies will take good care of Edith :)

Hooo, boy.

Y/n wondered what type of story Oleander would put together. Edith being a spy from the West? The woman selling Ostania's secrets to Westalis? Whatever it was, it'd ensure that Edith wouldn't be a problem any longer. And y/n would get back that money she lent the woman.

What would she use 7,560,000 dalc for?
Well, all on Kilian of course.
Whatever he wanted, y/n would provide it.
Within reason of course, her Mother and Father were very careful about spoiling her and Achille.

Y/n was practically buzzing with excitement, but toned it down to actually go use the bathroom since she kinda had to go. She returned as quickly as possible and hopped back into her seat, gawking at the f/f Yuri ordered, "What the-? Yuri, I told you that you could order something you wanted!"

"What? I just so happened to be in the mood for f/f." Yuri said innocently, looking away and flinching when y/n leaned over and gave him a little kiss on the cheek.

"You're such a sweetheart." she cooed and Yuri's face turned as red as a tomato, his eyes sparkling once more. Yuri swore he saw all the secrets of the world whenever his wife showed him the slightest bit of affection.

As Yuri was staring at nothing with a look of shock on his face, he was seeing all possible equations, y/n's bodyguard was giving the couple a disgusted look.

'Ewww, relationships, I could never.' he thought, turning away, '...I wonder what Elena is up to.'

"I- uh, I..." Yuri's mind went blank for a little second, "What were you saying about your nephew?"

"Ah, so you're considering it? Well, if you want to know... he's called Kilian! He's got a beauty mark like mine, and his eyes are grey." y/n began, recalling details of her nephew from the last time she'd seen him, "He was three the last time I saw him, so he's turned six by now!"

Yuri wasn't consciously listening as he usually would be, eyes focused on the small cut on his wife's face.

If he'd ask, his wife probably wouldn't have realized that the cut was even there. Or, if she had, she'd react startled and quickly respond with some sort of reason.

Yuri was down bad for his wife, yes, and occasionally lost all intelligence when it came to her and the things she said, but that wasn't the case when it came to things like injuries.

Y/n had been coming home with a lot of them lately. Small, but still injuries that couldn't just be accidents.

Was she having difficulty at work?
Troubled by customers?

Yuri would've asked but his wife seemed so happy about being able to be reunited with her nephew, he refrained from killing the mood and happily listened as his wife described the young boy.

'I'll have to admit, I'm a little excited as well. Even if the kid may take up some of y/n's attention, she always makes time for me.' Yuri thought with a fond smile, 'Maybe we'll decide to have kids of our own.'

"Can you tell me what your Aunt is like?"

"Well... she was practically a kid herself last time I saw her." a boy murmured with a thoughtful expression, "She's older now, so I imagine she's taller and a bit more mature. It's likely that her personality hasn't changed. She used to keep up this peppy and ditzy facade but she's was a driven woman who was adept at everything she did."

"Uh... did see? Fast odd? A debt?" the girl echoed with a puzzled expression and the older boy sighed.

"She pretends to be cute and innocent, but she's a scary woman who doesn't give up easily. She's good at what she does." the boy explained then paused, "She's also a Mob Boss, if I remember correctly, she took over the position after my Dad passed."

"Mob Boss..." the little girl breathed, "So exciting! I wanna know more about the Mob Boss!"

"I'm too tired." the boy stated, turning away to the little table and lifting a book to hide his face, 'I wanna do something else, but there's no more cross word puzzles. Maybe if I get on the ground and pretend to be inert... the floor is filthy though-'

"I heard that! I wanna know more!" the little girl whined, shaking the boy by his shoulder, "Iannnn!!! Tell me more!"

Kilian sighed, "You're such a pain, Anya."

When Kilian was three, his father died. He was left in the care of his mother, and it hadn't even been a year after the man's death that his mother sold him off to an organization.

There, he was tested on, and the two years he spent there were probably the most hellish two years of his life. He was experimented on, treated like an object, deprived of the love once given to him by his Father, Grandfather and Aunt before everything fell apart.

The result of the experiments were Illusion-based abilities. Kilian didn't like to rely on them, they were troublesome.

Originally, he believed his mother made a mistake in selling him to that organization. He believed that his father wasn't dead, just sick. The lies were what kept Kilian sane, even if he had the ability to tell that they were just lies.

Anya happened to be another child being tested on, and the one who convinced Kilian to escape with her. With her Telepathy, and Kilian's Illusions, escaping and avoiding capture was easy.

After being relocated to numerous orphanages, and Kilian deliberately doing the worst possible things he could to get away from any families who chose to adopt or foster him, the two young children ended up at a run down orphanage.

The current Orphanage they were at was... Kilian didn't have the words for it, surprisingly.

He just decided to look after Anya, it was the only thing he could think of to keep himself sane, so he searched for any remaining family he had in the process.

He found his Aunt Y/n, shortly after learning the woman had his mother turned over to the Secret Police, and had even met a nice woman called Serafina the day before. She was a lawyer, and a pretty lady with an afro of thick curls, chilly blue eyes, and skin that Anya kept comparing to dark chocolate.

The nice lady was dubbed as "Hot Cocoa Lady"

"Huh, most of the time Anya can't tell what you're saying." Anya sighed, "You act like an adult, so you get kinda boring. You should just not speak at all."

Kilian flinched at that, before turning away with a quiet huff and warm cheeks. "H-Hey, I didn't mean it like that."

"No, I... I understand."

"Ian, don't stop talking to meeee!!!!"

Hm... maybe Kilian should refrain from speaking permanently. Anya would leave him alone then*highly unlikely*, and he could just speak in front of trusted adults or teachers!

Like Hot Cocoa Lady!

Kilian was dazzled by the lawyer during their first meeting, so much so that he was even more driven than before to find his Aunt.

"You must be Kilian, it's very nice to meet you."

For the first time in his life, Kilian was speechless. He could only stare wide eyed at the woman who had leaned over beside him, peering at the book he was reading.

"Hm? What's that you're reading?"

"B... B-B..." Kilian's mind went blank.

"B...?" the woman blinked curiously, her blue eyes glimmering with amusement and a little bit of confusion.

"B...B-Book!" Kilian blurted, "A dictionary!" He turned to look back at the book, cheeks warm, "I read through it everyday to remain sharp, and to entertain myself. It does get boring here."

"Is that so?" the woman seemed interested, "If you don't mind me asking, is there a particular word that stands out to you the most?"

"A word that stands out to me the most..." Kilian mumbled, "I'd have to say imbecile. As I'm surrounded by a bunch of them at all times."

The woman paused, blinking once then twice before bursting into laughter, Kilian feeling a bit of pride due to being able to make her laugh. Anya had begun to laugh too, but stopped and gave Kilian a look of betrayal when she realized his statement included her.

'Serves you right!'

"Hehe, you talk like a little adult." the Hot Cocoa Lady chuckled, "While I suppose that's what all children are, little adults, you're very eloquent for a child of your age."

"I come from a family of people who have to be eloquent enough to conduct business, and mature enough to take on new roles and responsibilities at a moment's notice." Kilian replied and tensed up when the dark skinned woman gave him a blank look, "Uh... I used to watch my Dad a lot when I was little, I guess he rubbed off on me."

The woman chuckled, "Don't worry, having a vocabulary as big as yours and maturity of that level at your age isn't a bad thing. Just don't forget to be a kid, attempting to grow up too fast just turns you into a miserable adult. Enjoy your childhood!"

"I'll keep that in mind." Kilian breathed, appearing dazzled while Anya gave him a little cheeky grin.

It was through the pretty lawyer lady, and Anya's telepathy which occasionally had its uses, that Kilian was able to learn about his Aunt's upcoming visit.

"Your family sounds super cool!" Anya exclaimed, "Anya wants to live with you and your Aunt!"

"You can't, Anya." Kilian stated simply, "The future already has something else in store for you."

'He still talks! Mission Accomplished!' Anya thought with delight, "Tell me what the future store has for me!"

"I can't, I don't have precognitive abilities." Kilian turned away with a sigh, "I'm going to study now, go away or study with me properly."

"I can just use my telepathy, so there's no need to study! Let's play cops and robbers instead!"

Kilian turned his gaze to Anya, staring at her long enough to make her unsettled, "Are you sure you want to do that?"

"...nah."

"Listen, Anya, if you rely on Telepathy all the time, you'll grow up to be incredibly stupid." Kilian said flatly before grabbing a newspaper, "Sit here, we're gonna practice your handwriting."

"Anya doesn't wanna practice!"

"That wasn't a request, sit down!"

Anya begrudgingly sat down next to the boy with her little chimera plush between them, tuning out his voice as he began explaining what she needed to do.

When she read the Hot Cocoa Lady's mind, Anya found that Kilian and his Aunt looked very similar. The only exceptions were Kilian's slightly lighter tone of s/c skin, his metallic grey eyes, and his white colored hair.

It used to be a deep brown color, but those experiments that were run on him jacked up his hair color permanently.

Both him and the woman shared a beauty mark by their left eye, just like Kilian's late father who Anya had seen whenever Kilian thought of him.

Huh, Kilian's Aunt seemed way nicer than he was.

"Hey! Pay attention!"

"Yes Boss!"

"Don't call me that, stick to Ian."

Anya watched curiously as Kilian wrote down the address 420 Delta Street and a couple other things, "Is that the Mob Boss' address?"

"Correct, I'm memorizing it. You seriously don't remember? You're the one who found it when the Hot Cocoa Lady was thinking about it."

Anya deadpanned, "...why are you memorizing it?"

"If I want to still be with you in the future, it will be imperative for me to know my home address." Kilian said simply, refusing to meet the girl's gaze, "That, and number of other things according to the limited research I managed to conduct."

'Ian really likes to research.' Anya thought, "Well can you tell Anya the future so she can remember in-pear-a-tin stuff to get ready too?"

"For the last time I can't see the future. Besides, even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. You'd find a way to screw it up. Just trust your instincts." Kilian snapped, "Conversation over, it's time for math! Also... don't try to say the word. Just say important."

"NOOOOOOOO!!!"

Kilian understood that Anya was young and didn't have an attention span as long as his. If something wasn't interesting to her, she'd pay it no mind.

Kilian knew this, and he had a solution.
He just had neither the energy or patience to use it.

As Anya took off running with her stuffed animal, Kilian glanced back at the address he wrote down.

"Hm."

His lips quirked up into a small smile as he recalled the last memory he had of his Aunt's face, a time when she was smiling and practically glowing with joy.

'I'm... a little excited.'
