Silence.

Y/n inhaled deeply then exhaled as she sat in her garden, her heart racing.

Her mind was going several miles an hour at this point, she had too much on her mind at the moment to be calm.

The Vision Hunt Decree.

What it would mean for herself, Ayumu and everyone else with visions.

What she could do...

Y/n and Ayumu had a bit of an advantage, Gramps's dojo being the last place the Shogun's soldiers would be likely to hit while confiscating Visions.

That evening, there was supposed to be a festival. One Kaori had suggested to Ayaka in order to get rid of some of the looming tension.

There would be music, food...

Ayumu's friends had dragged him to the festival earlier, leaving y/n by herself back at the dojo.

When Tsuji had asked her why she wasn't going to go, she skillfully dodged the question with a, "I don't feel like it..."

She really didn't.

Who would want to go celebrate and have fun when their Nation was about to be run down a path that would likely lead to pain and suffering?

Certainly not y/n.

"Ugh..." y/n groaned, rubbing her head as the music from the Festival painfully pounded against her skull, "Too loud..."

With a huff, she stood and turned to go find a spot with less of the noise.

However, she couldn't find a spot with any sort of peace at all. There was no escape from the music, was there?

Eventually, she found herself in Chinju Forest. The music wasn't as overwhelming there... it was rather distant which made y/n feel a bit better.

She exhaled quietly as she tipped her feet into the river, frowning as she kicked at the water in silence.

Finally, a moment of peace.

"Hm? Y/n?" spoke a soft voice and y/n flinched with a quiet screech, shopping around to give the newcomer a shocked look.

"K-..." y/n was shaking, "DAMN IT, DONT SCARE ME LIKE THAT, KAZUHA-!!!"

The platinum blond smiled at y/n from where he was chilling on a tree branch, "This is quite a surprise. Usually your senses are so sharp, not even an insect could sneak up on you."

Y/n's cheeks grew heated, "Ah..."

"Is something on your mind?" Kazuha inquired as he hopped down from the branch and landed beside y/n silently.

"Erm, well..." y/n's voice trailed off, 'HOLY CHEESEITZ, HI KAZUHA, PLEASE DO AS YOU WISH WITH MEZKSKALLWWWOWKWWOWJWW WHAYAYYOUTESOFUCKGNKHOT'

He blinked at her with curious crimson eyes as y/n stated back at him with a blank expression, internally screaming.

"...y/n?"

"Oh!" y/n snapped out of her totally appropriate fantasies as she rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly, "Oh... sorry about that Kazuha. Here, sit."

She pat the space next to her with a friendly smile, the moonlight shining upon her face and giving her an almost majestic look.

Kazuha stared for a moment before smiling and taking a seat beside y/n.

"No worries. May I ask what you're thinking about? It isn't often that I see such an intense look on your face."

"Intense...?" y/n echoed and flinched when the samurai poked the crease between her brows.

"You're frowning." he said gently.

"O-Oh, well I was just thinking about the Festival and uh, y'know, basic training stuff I have to go through, aha..." y/n began to ramble in a panic

'She's just as lovely and charming as the day I first saw her.' Kazuha thought, resting his cheek on his hand as he watched y/n become a flustered mess.

Oh yes, very lovely and charming.

If lovely and charming is screaming at the top of your lungs and clinging to a tree branch while begging for your life.

"KYAAAHHHH, JUST LEAVE ME ALONE, I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING VALUABLE ON MEEEEAHAHUWIQAOKAKAGSHJ!!!!" y/n shrieked, tears gathering in her eyes as she clung for a tree for dear life.

At the base of the tree were a group Nobushi who had chased her around.

The poor h/c haired girl had just been on her way to buy lunch but then these dudes pulled up and tried to mug her ass.

"Surely you have something valuable!" one shouted up at her, "I mean, look at the clothes you're wearing! I bet you come from a rather wealthy family."

"Imagine how much mora we could make because of you!" Another exclaimed.

Y/n deadpanned, "...eh?"

'Make money because of me?' y/n wondered then tensed with a gasp, 'Are they gonna make me sell my body or something!?'

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I DONT WANNADLEAVE ME ALONENYOUCREEOEJSOWHAJAHAI!!!!" y/n screamed at the top of her lungs, "SOMEBODY HELP IM BEING HARASSED!!!"

"OI, QUIT YELLING!"

"SOMEONE GET HER DOWN FROM THERE ALREADY, GRAB HER FOOT!"

"NO, DON'T TOUCH ME-!!!"

As y/n was screeching and kicking at the idiots trying to drag her from the tree, Kazuha happened to be passing by.

"...?"

Y/n let out a shriek when she was finally dragged from the tree and fell to the ground face first.

The nobushi curiously stared down as the girl didn't move from her spot.

"...is she dead-"

Before the man could finish speaking, there was suddenly the sound of thunder.

Kazuha watched with an almost amazed expression as the initially panicked girl beat the shit out of the group of Nobushi, moving as quick as lightning while leaving sparks of Electro in her wake.

And as soon as all the threats were eliminated*out cold*, she flopped ontonthr ground like a dead fish.

"..."

What did Kazuha just see?

He wandered over to the girl, crouching beside her, "Are you alright, Miss?"

"Eh!?" y/n woke up with a start and sat up, "T-The creepy dudes, where are they? Am o at their base or something, I-"

She froze when she spotted the men all knocked tf our on the ground, "..."

She looked at Kazuha.

Kazuha stared back.

"You saved me...!" y/n breathed, eyes sparkling with tears and amazement.

"Saved you? You saved yourself-"

Kazuha was hecking tackled as y/n clung to his waist while shrieking, "PLEASE MARRY ME, SIR!!! I'LL CLEAN YOUR HOUSE, I CAN COOK PRETTY WELL, PLEASE LET ME BE YOUR WIFE, I'M BEGGING YOU!!!"

"I... uh..." Kazuha was at a loss for words as y/n stared up at him with teary eyes.

"PLEASE, I DON'T WANNA DIE ALONE!"

"Miss... please calm down..."

"Erm... so what're you doing here, Kazuha?" y/n inquired, "I'm guessing you didn't go because the situation wasn't quite right."

Kazuha smiled, "Correct. It's like you can read my mind like a book, Y/n."

"Ahaha..." y/n looked away awkwardly.

'Cute.' Kazuha thought in amusement, "You weren't planning in just sitting here all night, were you?"

"At least until the music stopped. It was too loud for my liking." y/n admitted, "Here, it's a little better. Surprisingly."

"Hm... you're not telling me everything, are you?" Kazuha questioned, expression serious.

"Wh-What makes you think that?" y/n asked, looking at everything but the samurai.

She yelped when he gently took her hand in his and helped her to her feet.

"Here, since you do not wish to tell me what's troubling you, let's do something else instead." Kazuha suggested as he guided her off the rock and onto the soft grass.

"H-How about slow dancing?" y/n blurted, having gotten the wrong idea when Kazuha mentioned something else, "I, uh, recently read a book about it but I haven't gotten to practice with anyone yet."

"Slow dancing?" Kazuha echoed.

Y/n nodded, "It's actually rather simple. Like normal dancing but slower. Slower and made to match the beat of slower songs. Here, it'll be easier if I just show you!"

Nervousness forgotten, y/n gently pulled Kazuha closer to her. She carefully rested her hands on top of his, failing to notice how he inhaled sharply.

"Here." y/n instructed, guiding his hands to her hips, "Your hand go right here and I kinda just loop my arms around your neck!"

As y/n did exactly that, letting arms rest upon Kazuha's shoulders, she picked up the rhythm of his heartbeat. She blinked once, her own heart rate beginning to race.

"Y-Your heartbeat-!" y/n began and Kazuha's cheeks became tinted with pink, "I'm not making you uncomfortable, am I?"

She pulled away with an awkward smile, chuckling nervously, "Aha, m'sorry about that Kazuha... I should've-oh!"

Y/n gasped when Kazuha pulled her back to him moving her arms so they were resting upon his shoulders before resting his hands at her hips again.

"K-K-Kazuha!" y/n squeaked, struggling to form words as she mentally screeched less than appropriate things, "Wha-"

"You hadn't finished showing me how to slow dance." Kazuha pointed out and smiled, "I'd like you to teach me. If you don't mind doing so, of course."

"S-Sure!" y/n said quickly before clearing her throat and attempting calm herself, "Ah... give me a second..."

She listened carefully, taking a moment to take in the rhythm of the music which had been carried over to the forest by the gentle evening breeze.

"Okay..." she murmured then looked up to Kazuha with a somewhat shy expression, "Uhm... just follow my lead."

Kazuha only nodded with a soft hum.

Y/n hesitantly began to sway to the music, her rhythm stuttering for a while before she finally got the hang of it and settled into a slow and easy pattern.

Kazuha followed her easily, y/n far too embarrassed to look directly at him.

She hesitated at first but settled for hiding her face in the crook of his neck.

There, she could hear his heartbeat and his pulse. As they slowly danced together, swaying to the distant music in silence, y/n became aware of something.

Her pulse had jumped a little to match his while her breathing was synchronized with Kazuha's almost perfectly.

Her face grew rather hot, 'Oh. Oh dear.'

There was another moment of peace, the sound sof the forest and the distant music filling the silence before y/n spoke quietly.

"Kazuha..." she said, voice barely above a whisper, "Do you think things will get better here in Inazuma?"

The young man blinked before his crimson gaze landed on y/n who's face was still hidden, "Y/n?"

"I can't stand the tension... it's suffocating. The sound here isn't quite the same, it feels so off and I constantly feel on edge-" y/n continued before looking to Kazuha with round eyes.

Kazuha was unsure of how to reply.

Even he didn't know if things would get better. To be honest, he had a looming feeling that it'd be a long while before the tension ever went away.

Y/n knew that from the look in his eyes.

Tears gathered in her own e/c eyes and she attempted to turn her head away to hide them only for Kazuha to cup her face in his hands.

"I'll be completely honest with you, I'm also uncertain about whether or not things will return to the way they once were." Kazuha admitted as he wiped tears away from y/n's cheek with a thumb, "But, you don't have to worry about that here. Consider this a safe place, a place to hide from reality."

Y/n's eyes rounded a little when Kazuha placed a little kiss on her nose.

"Even if it's just for tonight, forget about all the chaos and just relax a little."

'SIR, MARRY ME RIGHT NOW, I AM ON MY KNEES!!!' y/n thought, 'I'M SIMPING AGAIN, GODDAMNIT, I'M SIMPING-!!!'

"If I'm being honest, I don't think anything could get me to forget about the Vision Hunt Decree and everything..." y/n admitted.

"Is that so..." Kazuha murmured and y/n could've sworn her heart stopped when he leaned a little closer, "If you'd let me, I could change your mind."

Y/n stared, shocked.

It took her a moment to realize that he was awaiting her answer. Very patiently.

"Sure." y/n squeaked out, 'Y/N, YOU LITTLE DIPSHIT, YOU SQUEAKED!!! THAT'S SO UNATTRACTIVE YOU MORON, SHAME ON YOU, YOU LITTLE- HOLY COW--!!!'

Welp, there goes several braincells.

Y/n's brain was going insane, trying to figure out wtf happened when Kazuha placed a little gentle kiss on her lips.

Oh.

Oh shit, it's happening again.

Y/n, you lucky binch.

The h/c haired simp was trying to figure out what to say but hey, she's being kissed, she can't talk!

Her "Holy shit" came out as a soft whine instead and she pouted when Kazuha pulled away.

"May I?" Kazuha asked breathlessly.

'YESSIRRR' "S-Sure..."

Y/n yelped when she was backed up against a tree and caged there by Kazuha's arms.

She was given another mind-numbing kiss and all her worries were instantly forgotten.

Well would you look at that, Kazuha was right! She'd forgotten about the damn Vision Hunt.

All she could think about was Kazuha's lips mashed with hers and how much she wanted the kiss to last forever.

She tugged Kazuha closer, earning a chuckle from him which made her ears burn with embarrassment.

"Looks like it worked." he murmured as he peppered her face with gentle little butterfly kisses, "What was it you were saying earlier about being worried?"

"Don't know, don't care." y/n said simply and dragged the triumphant Kazuha into another kiss but not before asking, "Can we stay here a little longer?"

"Of course." Kazuha hummed against y/n's lips, crimson eyes playful, "Need a moment to catch your breath?"

"...will I need it?"

"Mm... possibly~"
