Oh yes, y/n was definitely going to faint.
Wtf was this creature?
It was tall and humanoid with a raspy voice that made y/n want to rupture her ear drums. It was quite unpleasant-
It looked like it could kill her in less than a minute and-OH MY GOD IT'S ATTACKING!!!
Y/n shrieked, diving out of the way when the creature pulled a fidget spinner type move and almost sliced both her and Aether in half.
"WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL US, HUH!?" y/n shrieked, "W-WE WERE JUST PASSING THROUGH, THAT'S ALL! LET US LEAVE AND WE WON'T SAY A WORD, I SWEAR!"
"Coming here was your first mistake. Now, you all shall pay the price." the Abyss Herald replied almost coldly, "As a Herald, I will mete our your punishment."
"A Herald...?" Aether echoed then his eyes widened, "Oh! It's the thing Dainsleif was talking about! An Abyss Herald?"
"Dainsleif...?" the Abyss Herald echoed, "I thought you were just some pests who had stumbled across this place on accident but no. You're affiliated with that pain in the ass-"
Y/n deadpanned, "wat"
The Abyss Herald seemed to catch itself before going back to that formal tone, "Did he send you here to die? His resistance against the Abyss has gone nowhere for a long time."
"Hey now, weren't you just-" y/n began to say but was rudely interrupted.
"There is nothing you can do to change the tide..." the Abyss Herald exclaimed, "The Abyss is unstoppable! Those who stand in our way shall perish!"
"PERISH!? YOU MEAN DIE!? WE'RE GONNA DIE!?" y/n shrieked, completely forgetting about the fact that this creature knows what a pain in the ass is, "JUST FOR BEING CURIOUS!?"
"Curiosity did kill the cat." Paimon murmured and y/n made a noise of distress.
"Paimon! You're not helping!" Aether said sharply, "Cut it out already!"
"Oops! Paimon's sorry!"
Too late.
Y/n fainted on the spot, collapsing and hecking flopping on the floor.
Ah, yes.
The perfect moment to pass out.
Aether, Paimon and the Abyss Herald all stared at y/n in silence as she snored.
"...is she sleeping?" the creature asked.
"Nope!" Paimon chirped, grinning at the Abyss Herald, "She's preparing to kick your ass!"
"Paimon!"
"Sorry!"

"STOP IT! LEAVE NII-CHAN ALONE!" Kaori cried, clinging to y/n as the two children could only watch as Ayumu was being kicked around by two men.
The salmon haired boy had tried to fight back at first but realized his efforts were futile, curling up into a ball and trying to protect his face to the best of his abilities instead.
The sound of breaking bones left y/n feeling sick and her throat dry.
The noises were horrible...
Y/n just wanted them to stop...
She took notice of how Ayumu was bleeding now from a wound on his head. Did they... did they hit him in the head?
"Ayumu!" y/n shouted, realizing that her friend had fallen unconscious, "S-Somebody! Please help us! Help!"
Kaori was sobbing now, burying her face in the sleeve of y/n's kimono which had been sewn back together countless times by now.
"Damn it, shut that brat up!" one of the men snapped and the other stormed towards the two young girls.
"D-Don't hurt Kaori! She's just a little kid...!" y/n protested, scrambling to block the man's path to the sobbing little girl only to be slapped across the face.
Kaori's wailing only increased in volume as the man shouted for her to shut up, otherwise he'd shut her up himself.
Every time y/n interjected, pleading for the man just to leave Kaori alone, she was slapped across the face once more or was given a swift kick to the side.
At this point, Kaori's crying had ticked the man off enough to the point where he was ready to hit her too, beginning to approach the younger child.
Y/n took notice and forced herself to get up, grabbing onto the man's leg and biting him and letting out a muffled, "Leave her alone!"
"DAMN IT, LET GO OF ME YOU STUPID KID!" the man shouted, grabbed a fistful of her hair but y/n refused to let go.
She wouldn't let go.
If she let go, she wouldn't have it in her to get up again and try to hold him back.
And if she couldn't hold the man back, Kaori would get hurt or maybe worse...
Y/n didn't want that.
So she took each painful blow, refusing to let go despite how much it hurt.
Tears gathered in her eyes as the seconds began to feel like hours, 'Somebody... please help us...'
"Oi! You two! What do you think you're doing!?" a new voice shouted, gaining the attention of the two men.
Kaori's crying had gotten quieter, lowering to quiet whimpering as all eyes turned to the strange newcomer.
It was an old man.
He had a cane, shirt gray hair, brown eyes and y/n noticed that he was missing a leg. He looked quite frail yet his aura practically screamed fight-me-i-dare-you.
"This is none of your concern you old geezer!" snapped man who had not stopped kicking Ayumu despite the boy being unconscious, "Just continue walking along and you won't have to get hurt!"
The old man raised a brow, "And let you continue harming these children? No. I don't think I will."
Y/n yelped when the man finally got her to let go of his leg and practically tossed her.
"Fine then!" the man exclaimed, cracking his knuckles, "Have it your way, old man!"
Y/n truly thought that this old man was going to die. These two men were awfully strong and the elderly dude was actually missing a leg! How would he beat them in a fight???
Well, y/n was surprised that day.
Within the next three minutes, the two men who had been talking shit were on the ground, out cold.
The old man dusted himself off before wandering towards y/n and Kaori.
"Are you two alright?" he asked.
Kaori could only nod.
"I'm fine..." y/n murmured despite the pain she felt, "But Ayumu... he...!"
The trio looked towards the boy who was still unconscious, blood dripping down his face from the wound on his head.
"Hm... come with me you two. Bring the boy. I don't live too far from here. I can treat your wounds at my home." the old man hummed.
Y/n hesitated at first but retrieved her unconscious friend, Kaori helping her carry him as they trailed after the old man who had saved them.
"What's your name, old man?" Kaori inquired, having no manners as usual.
"...you can call me Tsuji-san." the man replied simply and Kaori hummed quietly.
"I think I'll call you Gramps." Kaori decided then sighed, "Tsuji-san is too hard to remember..."
Tsuji chuckled, "Ah, I see. Alright then. You two may call me Gramps."

Aether and Paimon watched silently as y/n bounced off the hecking walls, the Abyss Herald obviously struggling to keep up with her.
Electro crackled around her as her feet touched the wall, her hand making its way to her sword where it rested at her hip.
Aether caught a glimpse of the blade and how it glowed purple with electro energy flowing through it.
"Stay still." was all y/n said and the Abyss Herald did the exact opposite.
It just barely avoided being beheaded by y/n as she launched herself off the wall in a flash of purple light, slicing through the space where the Herald had once been and destroying a stone statue instead.
Before the creature could recover, Aether came out of nowhere and hit it with a nice lil "WIND BLADE!"
The Abyss Herald stumbled back, deciding it was no match for the unconscious idiot who almost peed her pants and the sisterless blond.
"This power... It seems familiar..." the Abyss Herald murmured, "I see... so, it's you... you are the one! And that strange girl-"
Y/n woke up in instant, "Eh? What happened? Did I fall asleep?"
She glanced at her sword, "hm?"
She looked at the Abyss Herald and shrieked, hiding behind Aether, "IT'S STILL HERE!!!"
"I shall stay here no longer." the creature decided, a strange portal of some kind opening up behind it.
It floated backwards into it and y/n heard a voice as it disappeared through the strange gateway.
"Oh? Back already? What a shocking surprise...!" A voice chirped, amused.
"Shut up, I hate you." y/n recognized this particular voice as the Abyss Herald's, just a little less monstrous.
As soon as the portal disappeared, y/n could no longer hear the two voices clearly.
She could still hear them. Very faintly...
'Strange...' she thought, tightening her grip on Aether's arm before hugging him, "Thank you for saving me! I definitely would've died if you hadn't been here with me?"
Aether looked confused yet delighted.
"No problem, y/n."
"But Aether, y/n did all the-"
Aether expertly threw an apple at Paimon, shutting her up before turning to y/n to give her a sweet smile.
"Let's get out of here." he hummed.
"Gladly." y/n breathed.

"Oh! Hello there, Dainsleif!" y/n greeted as the trio exited the ruins together.
The mysterious man glanced in the trio's direction, eyes briefly lighting up with surprise and a little something else before going back to normal.
"Y/n, Aether, Paimon. It's a surprise seeing you here." he said as the three idiots joined him.
"Hey, Dain!" Paimon greeted happily.
"Judging by your expression, it seems you just experienced something quite strange." Dainsleif murmured, "Could it be that you encountered an Abyss Herald in those ruins?"
"Huh!?" Paimon demanded.
"How did you know that?" Aether questioned, a lil bit surprised.
"CAN YOU READ MINDS...!?" y/n demanded, far more amazed than fearful.
"No, no, not at all." Dainsleif chuckled, "I've been on the Abyss Herald's trail. I didn't expect to find you here as well."
"Actually, the Abyss Herald wasn't all we encountered..." Aether spoke up.
"Ah right! The dead treasure hoarder and the upside down statue!" Y/n chimed in then shivered, "That was scary... it had weird purple energy in its hands. Darker than electro and the sound it made didn't feel quite right."
Aether explained what they saw while Paimon tried to calm down y/n as she was freaking out about the Abyss Herald and how it totally would've killed her had Aether been absent.
"An inverted Statue of The Seven... holding Abyssal power in its hands?" Dainsleif echoed when Aether had finished speaking, "No, I have never seen such a thing during my time fighting the Abyss... though I have had my suspicions."
"EHH??? YOU'VE BEEN FIGHTING THE ABYSS!?" y/n demanded before bursting into tears, "JUST THE THOUGHT OF IT IS SCARING ME...! STOP TALKING ABOUT THEM!"
The others stared at y/n for a moment before Dainsleif stepped forward and covered y/n's ears before continuing, "Tell me the rest of what happened in there. You escaped the ruin depths filled with Abyssal power, and then?"
"As we got close to the exit, an Abyss Herald suddenly appeared and blocked our way!" Paimon explained, "We fought a big battle with that thing!"
"Maybe it hasn't gotten too far yet..." Aether suggested, "It was only a couple minutes ago that it ran off."
"This is a rare opportunity indeed." Dainsleif said with a nod, "Come, let's catch up to it."
"You realize I can still hear you, right?" y/n spoke up and everyone gave her looks of shock, Dainsleif too.
"Right! Her hearing!" Aether realized out loud then grabbed y/n's hands, startling her, "Y/n, can you try to track down the Abyss Herald with your hearing?"
Y/n's cheeks were warm, "Ah, well... I could hear voices on the other side of the weird gateway it opened... even after it closed."
"Really?" Paimon gasped.
Y/n nodded, "I can still hear them now but they're very faint... if I had to guess where the Abyss Herald could be, I'd say..."
The h/c haired girl hesitated then turned and pointed in the direction of Mondstadt, "That way. Most likely."
In that moment, both Aether and Dainsleif decided that y/n was hecking amazing.
(AHEM... look what I found)
(This is so cute)
