47: 𝐵𝑖𝑟𝑑𝑠, 𝐷𝑜𝑔𝑠 & 𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑠
Kira had been given two options by Nezu.
A: Be suspended for the rest of the week
Or B: Apologize to Izuku Midoriya.
So needless to say Kira was suspended.
She wasn't used to being free all day, at least not on a weekday and she didn't really know what to do with herself. She slept in (which didn't happen often so she was happy), watched vine compilations on the couch while eating Cheetos and now she was on a walk. She didn't like just rotting in her apartment.
Kira stopped by a park and climbed up a tree. Trying to get away from all the people everywhere. She took a nap up there for about an hour or so. Normally she couldn't get sleep at all, so she was very happy with the amount she was getting today. There was no one in the park either so there were little to no thoughts. Just Kira and the hum of her quirk as it looked for thoughts to invade. She kept her music all the way up as usual and just sat in the branches of the tree.
She was jolted away when the highest branches of the tree shook. There was some sort of swooshing sound like a Giant bird flew by. Kira immediately sat up and gripped the branches around her as the tree swayed from side to side.
"Do de do de do- AH A CIVILIAN!!!"
The thoughts of another person made Kira take off her headphones with an eyeroll.
"Really? I never get any sleep." She complained to the overgrown bird.
"You're... Like really high up kid." The hero pointed out. It was the pro hero Hawks in his full hero suit. Kira had never seen the young pro in person, she just knew what she knew from the news. He was young, fast and charismatic. Every teen girl and many of the boys had a big crush on him.
Kira got why too, he was good-looking and saved people with his feathers all of the time.
"So I'm my defense I didn't know anyone would be up here." Hawks continued. "Though it is kinda impressive -"
He stopped once he saw her better. "Hey! You're a UA kid!" He said, pointing at her with a smile. "Kokoa, she's the kid that took out Stain. Doesn't look like she had much to her. I wonder what her quirk is... The news never said."
"Not right now. Right now I'm a napping kid." Kira said with a yawn. "At least I was."
"Shouldn't you be in school? Don't tell me you're skipping." He asked, sitting down. His mind forming a lecture about how school was important.
He didn't even go to school as a kid though.
Kira ignored any thoughts about his past. She didn't really understand them anyways.
"Not unless you count suspension as skipping." Kira said, leaning back in her tree and closing her eyes.
"I didn't know UA kids could get suspended."
Hawks thought out loud. "What did you do?"
"Punched a kid." Kira said honestly.
"Wow, she's so casual about it too... What the hell is going on in that school?!"
He thought about it for a moment.
"What about you? Shouldn't you be like... Saving people?" Kira asked. "And not invading my tree."
"She knows I'm a pro- Well obviously, I am famous. But she's not acting like a fan- she goes to UA though, she's probably exposed to pros all of the time."
"Nah I'm on break." He said, waving her off. "Hey you took down stain right? What's your quirk?"
"I can shoot a gun, that's all that matters."
Kira responded, covering her eyes.
"Ooo secretive. Cool, I like her. She's a total vibe." He bent down, balancing on a tree Branch. "Can I guess?"
"Knock yourself out." Kira mumbled with a yawn.
"Okay um... A quirk that helps you shoot straight?!"
"No, that's lame."
"Teleportation!"
"Wouldn't I have used that in the sports festival?"
"You can see the future!"
"Why does everyone always think that?"
"Telekinesis!"
"Once again... Sports festival."
"Mind-reading!"
"...That sounds like hell."
"You hesitated on that one!" Hawks pointed out, resting his head on his hand. Kira's heart skipped a beat. She tried to stay calm but was starting to get very nervous. How had he guessed it so quickly? No, he suggested it as a joke, but now he's actually thinking about it.
Sort of.
"Okay okay... Can you hear me? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
He said in his mind. Staring at Kira, looking for any type of reaction. "BECAUSE TONIGHT WILL BE THE NIGHT THAT I WILL FALL FOR YOU~ OVER AGIANNNN."
"Are you just gonna stare at me? You're kinda freaking me out." Kira mumbled peeking up at him with a straight face.
"Okay so maybe not mind-reading. Or If you can read my mind you really seem to be good at hiding it. Good job." He stood back up.
"Sorry, welp breaks almost up!" He smiled. "When you go back to school tell Tokoyomi his old mentor says hi! And that I don't appreciate him Ghosting me!"
"I will not. But okay." Kira yawned and then, as quickly as he came. Hawks launched off the tree and flew off with as much pazazz as he could muster. "Weird guy." She mumbled before deciding to climb back down from the tall tree.

Kira skateboarded home, headphones secured over her ears as usual. Her hands were shoved into the pocket of her hoodie. It was baggy and green with black tie dyed streaks.
Bakugou had been steady texting her all day, mostly about how everyone around him was stupid and he hated it there.
Kira appreciated the fact that he missed her, but frowned slightly. She really was his only friend. She definitely needed to start trying to add people to their friend group. She didn't want Bakugou to be completely stranded Everytime she wasn't there.
"Why can't you and Kiri just be bros already?" Kira thought with a frown. She stopped her skating to check her messages.

Monday.
Kira smiled at her phone and tucked it into her pocket. Continuing her way forward, then she heard a sound through her headphones. The low quick bark of an annoyingly loud dog. Kira took off her headphones and slowed to a stop. Directing her attention to the animal.
The mangy thing was tilted forward with it's front legs closer to the ground than it's hind ones. He bared his teeth and let out a low growl. Kira didn't care much for dogs, she acknowledged that some were cute. But this one really wasn't. It was all muscles and sharp edges with shiny white teeth. It had a collar on and was clean, obviously belonged to someone.
Who let their big ass angry dog just wonder around was beyond Kira. But she ignored the beast as it continued to bark, nose buried under a dumpster. Kira could hear the ugly thing slobbering and sniffing, there was something under there it really wanted.
But wasn't getting.
Then she heard a small noise that turned her heart to mush. A very tiny, and scared: Meow.
"Oi fuck off mutt!" Kira yelled, shooing away the dog. "Go away!" She said again, kicking at it. She wasn't going to hurt the dumb thing, but her leg swinging in its direction was enough to get it to back off.
The dog was trained enough to not attack people, but little kittens were a different story. The dog barked at her but then ran off a few paces and stood staring at her and the dumpster.
Kira glared at the creature and crouched down. Looking under the green trashcan to see a scared little kitten. It's fur was sticking up and it's claws were out, like it was ready to fight the dog head on. Even though it had been hiding.
Kira pouted and stuck her hands under the stinky metal box. She touched fur and heard the kitten let out a very not intimidating little hiss. The little ball of fur was very sassy but didn't have much to back it up with.
The dog barked at Kira, who just kicked a small pebble at it in response. Cradling the smaller animal in her palm. It was no bigger than her shoe but had plenty of attitude.
It stared up at Kira and hissed several times in a quick spiting kinda way. Like a dragon breathing fire at her.
"Hey calm down spitfire." Kira said. "I'm saving you." The kitten didn't seem to get this, clawing at Kira's sleeve with a feisty "meow"
Kira held it up and it stared at her with Mitch matched eyes. One green, one brown. It's dirty fur was just as quirky as it's eyes. A mix of orange, white and black. The creature had no indication of being owned. It's fur was dirty and slightly matted. It's paws muddy and bones sticking out slightly. It obviously needed food.
"Hmm..." Kira hummed, looking around. Kira didn't have the heart to just put the tiny thing back under the dumpster and leave. It was too small to be out in the world on it's own. Kira sighed and momentarily set the kitten on the top of the closed dumpster, away from the threat of the dog. She then quickly turned her hoodie around so that her hood was over her chest. Then she picked the cat back up and settled it in her hood.
"There you are." Kira said, getting back on her board. She put one hand over it gently, feeling the trembling thing through the fabric of her hoodie.
"Guess I'm taking you home then."
