Kira's heart thundered in her chest, it's beat coming just as quickly as the detective's thoughts came through.

"She lied?! But her file... Could it be the way she phrased it? No. It's never gone off for something as silly as that before. So she's not quirkless? This is big, this is lying on your medical records big. She's hiding something. Why would she lie about her quirk? And what is it? It definitely has something to do with the information she knows. I didn't think she could be a criminal but now..."

Kira leaned forward. Clasping her hands together to stop them from shaking. This was bad. This was REALLY bad. How had she not known his quirk was a lie detector?! He hadn't thought of it directly. She assumed that he was just confident in his detective abilities. She had been dumb. Now he knows she lied, and he's taking it in the worst possible way.

So what now? He knew she had a quirk. He just didn't know what it was. He seemed prepared to go about the interview and then circle back to it. He didn't want her to know he caught her lie. But she couldn't go through this whole interview without lying while keeping her quirk a secret. She mentally groaned, she started becoming way too aware of the seconds she sat staring forward, hands pressed against her lips.

"Are you alright miss Kokoa?" Nezu asked her. "Would you like some tea?" He offered, though he was already pouring it.

"Yes please." She choked out. He slid the cup over. Kira, without hesitation grabbed the recording device and dropped it into the teacup. 'No going back now.' she thought as the dumbstruck men stared at her.

"Thanks." She said to Nezu. She looked at Naomasa. "Can you keep a secret?" She asked him. Looking him straight in the eye.

He blinked. "Erm... Yes?" He said, suddenly avoiding eye contact. He felt like he was being interrogated, and he didn't like that feeling at all. Kira stared for a few more seconds. Reading his every thought, looking for any sign of him lying.

"What about you?" She asked Nezu. The mouse frantically nodded. Almost giddy at the idea of knowing secrets. Kira got the feeling he knew a lot of them, just like she did.

"Yes of course." He said with a smile. She waited, no beep. Either he was telling the truth, or the detective's quirk didn't work on rodents.

"Alright fine." She leaned back, arms crossed. Anyone could tell she was now much more guarded. "I lied. You know that." She jerked her chin at the detective.

He raised his eyebrows. "Y-yes." He stammered.

"OoOo! About what?" Nezu asked, sipping his tea.

"I'm not quirkless." She said. "My files? Every document from when I was seven is completely forged."

"That's very-"

"It's illegal. I know, I didn't do it though." She shrugged.

"I have to report this-"

"Report it and I actually will stab you in the jugular with a pencil." She snapped. There was a beep. "Okay maybe not, but I'll be really pissed."

Nezu happily looked between them. Head swiveling with every word. He was very happy for some weird reason. The detective gaped at her. Mouth opening and then closing like a fish.

"You're-"

"Yep." She said.

"Oh let me guess!" Nezu clapped his paws. "You're a mind-reader! You're reading his mind! Oh how interesting! Do me!"

"Can't, doesn't work on animals." She mumbled.

"That's... That's the most powerful quirk I've ever heard of..." The detective whispered. "It beats mine in every way. She'd not only be able to tell when someones lying. She'd be able to tell exactly why and what the truth is- no, YOU'D be able to tell." He corrected himself and stared at her. Waiting for a response.

"I mean technically yeah. But I can't like.. dig around. I can only hear what someone is thinking the second they think it." She shrugged and bit her lip nervously. "And I can't block it out... At all." She rubbed the back of her neck.

"She's getting really nervous, frantic even. She's definitely not comfortable with this- wait you can hear all of my evaluations can't you?"

"Yeah I can." She nodded.

"Amazing." Nezu said, eyeing her with his beady animal eyes.

"You creep me out." Kira told him honestly, inching away.

"Of course I do. You can't read my mind, as someone who knows almost everything you must fear that which is unknown." He whispered.

"Yeah it's Something like that." Kira said casually.

"Who all knows about this?" The detective asked.

"Uh... You guys... And a pro that I Haven't seen for about... Eight years?" She said. Thinking back.

"That's it? Three people? Not including yourself."

"Yeah, there were more but they're dead now- no I didn't kill them." She rolled her eyes. Answering what immediately popped into his head.

"Why? Why lie about your quirk?! It's amazing! It's powerful it's... Unlimited."
He whispered the last word.
"Oh..."

"She's paranoid."

"Paranoid implies an unreasonable fear. Believe me I have plenty of reason to be scared." She stated, glaring at him.

"So when did your quirk develop? How did your quirk doctor miss it?" The detective asked. She tapped her fingers on the table.

"I was seven. And he didn't miss it. Would have been much better for me if he had though." Kira mumbled.

"What about -"

"With all due respect, I'm not here to answer questions about myself. I'll tell you all I know on the League of villains. But it's not much." She said, brushing away any unanswered questions.

"R-right..." The detective flipped through his book again. Trying to get his mind back on track. "So I'm assuming you knew because of your quirk then?"

She nodded. "I picked up on some weird thoughts from a neighbor about three months ago I think. Nothing too crazy, just thoughts about UA and being excited." She started. "Then when the semester started the same person thought along the lines of "won't be long until he's dead" but nothing else. That's when I started to write stuff down."

The detective pulled out her old notepad. He'd obviously been studying it. "A week ago... She could have- nevermind, lalalalalalalala"

He hummed in his mind trying to cover up his thoughts. But Kira would still hear a faint stream of thoughts in-between all of his singing.

"Then a few nights ago he had planned something. Something about retrieving information? A-and tipping off reporters as a distraction. And... He referred to someone. Not by name, he just thought something about a traitor. H-he lived too far away, his thoughts would fade out and then back in as he walked around. It wasn't much."

"The break in. A few day's ago, I told you about it right?" Nezu turned to Naomasa who was deep in thought.

"They used reporters as a cover. The entrance to the school had been completely destroyed..." He mumbled, nodding. "Yeah you told me." "Lalalalalalalalalalalala."

Kira's eyebrow twitched as his repetitive singing started to annoy her. But she didn't mention it.

"Then I woke up yesterday morning. He had a complete set plan he was thinking over in his head. He was waiting for someone to pick him up so he could go and "finally" kill All Might. Which he really wants to do by the way." Kira rubbing her eyes. "I wrote down all he thought and any images that popped into his head. But then someone else just... Appeared in his room. They didn't have any thoughts, just felt fuzzy and static. Like someone was there but they... They weren't even thinking at all. Then they both were just... Gone."

"And that's when you left?"
The detective asked.

"Yeah, I called my uncle probably ten times and didn't get an answer. Then I had to yell at some secretary to get a hold of you. You guys know the rest." She said.

"You know my thoughts, Kira why didn't you come forward days ago? When you first picked up on this. People could have died." Naomasa asked.

Kira's face felt hot, like she was embarrassed. Something pricked at the corner of her eyes. She saw it, images flashing through his mind.

All might injured.

Midoriya's body was broken.

Students walking out of a domed building. Shaken and beaten up.

A pro dressed like an astronaut with their back ripped apart being loaded into an ambulance.

A man, bleeding from everywhere with mangled bones and matted hair. Broken yellow goggles and a stained grey scarf.

Kira violently flinched. "Is he okay?!" She asked in horror. "Eraserhead! I-Is he-"

"Eraserhead is fine. Though he was very injured while protecting his students." Nezu said. "Can you see images?" He asked casually.

"Y-yes. Not always clearly. B-but I can." She covered her eyes. 'Don't cry, don't you dare cry.' Eraserhead's body was broken and it could have all been prevented.

Aizawa was hurt and she could have stopped it. If she had known he was involved... She could have gone to him. He would have believed her. He would have answered her calls. Unlike her uncle.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have shown you that."
The detective thought with genuine remorse. Kira was just a kid. A child, and He had just conjured up an image of a dying man for her to try and prove his point.

"I-I didn't know it was real until that morning. I can't tell the difference between intrusive thoughts a-and actual desires. Between some fantasy and actual plans. More than Half the things people think of doing they never actually do. I-I can't just report everyone who thinks about hurting someone. That's a lot of people." She shook her head frantically. Trying to explain herself.

"Bad thoughts don't only come to bad people. Sure it's worse in villains. But everyone thinks about that kinda stuff. Shit, I catch more murder plots from teen girls listening to true crime than I did with that guy. I didn't want to do anything until I knew for sure, I'd be risking the future of a man that could have been completely innocent. It's not fair." Kira put her head in her hands. "I was just trying to do the right thing." She mumbled.

This is why she didn't use her quirk. It never actually helped.

They would have been just as safe without her at the USJ. Iida had only been two minutes behind her. All she did was put herself in a situation where she had to expose her quirk.

Just like last time. It did more harm than good.

"I understand, I'm sorry I shouldn't have put that on you. It wasn't your fault, you did do the right thing." Guilt came off of the man in waves. Kira felt his sick regret and it only made her feel worse. His emotions piled onto her.

"It's fine! Don't worry about it- God you're making me feel worse." She grumbled.

"I'm sorry!" He said again looking around frantically. "I apologized!"

"Yeah but you still feel bad." She groaned. "And that makes me feel bad. So cut it out."

"Oh! So you're an empath as well?" Nezu clapped his paws together.

"Unfortunately." She mumbled, rubbing her eyes. "God this all sucks ass." She groaned and covered her eyes. "I hate my life."

"That's relatable- Lalalalalalalala."
He seemed really set on hiding his thoughts.
"La- Is -la- this -lala- even -la- working? -la."

"Not really, it's just fucking annoying."
She shot him a glare.

"Sorry." He said. All singing stopping in his mind.

"Since you can't hear my thoughts I'll be blunt." Nezu said. Standing up from his seat and walking over to her chair.

"I want you." He said. Staring up at her with pure black beady eyes. "I want you to come to my school." Nezu smiled a creepy rat smile.

"This is a formal invitation to join the UA high hero course. Will you accept?"
