School...

As soon as Nova entered the classroom she knew it was going to be different.

"Good morning Kurayami!"

Iida greeted her. The moment she sat down he turned and smiled at her nervously. It was so pointed and so sudden that Nova almost didn't realize he was talking to her. But he was.

It must be because of what happened at his house yesterday. Because she had been sick? Or because he felt bad for accusing her of something she hadn't done? Either way Nova was immediately uncomfortable.

"Uh....good morning?" She said nervously, sitting at her desk.

"I hope you're feeling better." He added. Watching her from his own desk. She nodded but didn't get a chance to say anything.

"I was worried." Shoji said, standing by her desk. "You left school so quickly last time and didn't respond to my messages... Then Aizawa said you were sick again." His tone was low, coming from an extra mouth closer to Nova as he stood over her. She figured even Iida couldn't hear.

"I'm sorry Shoji... A-alot was going on... And I guess walking in the rain made me sick. But I feel fine now!" She smiled lightly, glancing at Tenya. He was now staring down at his desk with a slight frown. Nova kinda felt bad for ignoring him.

Shoji nodded.
"I'm glad."

Lunch started, as their group got together Nova stood up. She wasn't really sure if she wanted to sit with them today, not after what happened last time.

She glanced over at Shoji. Wondering if he'd still stay here with her. Or maybe she could try and find Shinsou and Tammy... Maybe introduce them to Shoji, they seemed chill. Unlike most general studies students. Usually they thought hero course students were stuck up.

Or maybe Shinsou did too, but saw Nova as an exception to the rest of her class.

Before Nova could actually make a decision, or rather before she could begin to panic over where she'd be going for lunch Iida looked over at her from the group. He leaned a little closer to Nova with her nervous expression.

"...Please... Sit with us." He said, his voice lower than usual. Like he didn't want to draw too much attention to her.

Nova looked up at him in surprise, and felt her face get warm. It was just like this morning, he was reaching out to her. She knew he was trying to make it better but... It felt so much different from how he's treated her all semester so far. Then again he'd never been consistent with how he acted around her. First he was nervous, scared even. Then he ignored her, then he tolerated her and now he was showing her a lot of random positive attention. She didnt know how to react to any of it...

But...

She also didn't want to spend her lunch break banished to the classroom or hallway. She liked the cafeteria... And this group. And they seemed to kinda... Like her too?

"Alright." Nova said quietly, she didn't quite smile.

But Iida could see her eyes light up.

"Kurayami... Could I speak to you?"

After classes Iida approached her desk. He seemed careful not to draw much attention to them. Which Nova didn't mind, the only one looking was Shoji, who swiftly walked through the crowd of leaving students to stand by Nova's side.

"Privately?" The boy added. He didn't seem to be upset, or stone cold as he had been last time he asked to talk. And Nova was sure he was prepared to issue some sort of apology.

Even if Mr Iida didn't force him too, it was possible his mom or older brother hinted that it was the right thing. Or maybe he was doing it of his own accord....

Or maybe he wasn't apologizing at all. And Zoey stole something else again.

Nova was fairly certain she didn't. Not just because of how remorseful she seemed... But because Nova may had patted her down during their long hugs after she woke back up.

"O-oh um..."

Shoji stood as firm as a rock beside her, hesitantly touching her shoulder to let her know he was right there with her. He'd do what she wanted. He also gave her a little courage.

"Whatever you want to say... You can say now..." Nova glanced at Shoji, who took this as permission to stay.

Nova didn't want to be a pushover. She didn't want to agree to do whatever Iida wanted... If he was actually apologizing...

Wouldn't it be fair to do so on her terms?

He swallowed nervously, adjusting his tie. "Of course." He nodded, he tried not to show how much harder this was going to be now. Simply because he didn't want Shoji to know about their... Misunderstanding.

The taller boy seemed less gracious than Nova.

"I just wanted to formally apologize for what happened the day before yesterday. It was completely ignorant and... Inappropriate for me to say the things I did. I didn't mean any of them I was simply... Angry. But that wasn't your fault and I shouldn't have taken it out on you." He bowed slightly, hands firmly at his sides

Novas face turned red. This was much more formal of an apology than she was expecting. But then again this was Iida, she should have expected the more proper apology ever.

Although, Nova had never actually been apologized too at all before. So maybe that's why she was so uncomfortable.

Iida stood up, looking down. "I fear I haven't been heroic in my treatment of you at all. Since the beginning of the school year, it was unfair of me to treat you any different from the rest of my peers. Especially as someone who holds the title of class President." He said guiltily. There was also a deep sadness in his expression.

"Therefore I'll be forfeiting the title, and giving it back to Midoriya. I've been crass and rude and am not the leader that the class representative should be so-"

"What?! No no-" Nova waved her hands. "What are you talking about? Everyone knows you're the best for the job!" She said in panic. No way he actually felt that bad over this.

"I most certainly am not, not after my recent behavior. Midoriya was always the best candidate for the job. That's why he originally got the most votes." Iida shook his head. "The class representative is supposed to be a friend to all, and always do what's in other's best interests. I have done everything but that this entire semester." He put a hand over his heart.

He was being serious about this.

"That doesn't mean you should just... Give it up." Nova looked away. She didn't want this, Iida was the only student who would actually take the role seriously enough. Not too mention how much it obviously mattered to him. He was giving it up to punish himself.

She had a feeling it wasn't just because of her either.

'His behavior recently'

Could be be thinking about stain too? How he sought him out in revenge? Was that another reason he felt unworthy?

"Just... No one is going to fill the role perfectly. But at least you care enough to try. You're gifted in leadership and that's what matters. Midoriya was too shy to fill the role. Besides you apologized and that's good enough." Nova frowned. She didn't know what she could say to make him change his mind.

"I already told Mr Aizawa-"

"Tell him you changed your mind then." Shoji mumbled under his breath. "I doubt he cares."

"But-"

"If you do this then... I won't accept your apology." Nova crossed her arms.

"You can't not accept it because of that!!" Iida said in horror. He made a few frustrated motions with his hands like he was trying to say something but was physically fighting with his frustration at the same time. "If you're not going to accept it at least make it be because you're still upset! Not out of spite..."

"I can decline it however I want..." Nova mumbled. "Besides... I was the one who voted for you originally anyways. So it's basically like saying you don't care how I feel..."

Iida fell silent.

"...You were the one who voted for me?" He asked quietly. All of his movements stilled.

"Yes..." Nova nodded. "I thought you'd be a good leader."

"Even when... I treated you so badly?"

"I didn't say you were perfect..." She added with a shrug. "Besides you weren't that different from everyone else at that point. I understand that sometimes it takes people awhile to get used to me... And that's okay, it's how it's always been."

Nova sighed and hugged herself slightly, her arms over top of each other over her chest. "But now you seem like you actually want to make it right... And that's a good thing. Growth is a good quality in a leader."

More silence.

"Then... I vow to be the best most understanding and accepting class representative possible! I aspire to be as noble as you!" Iida said, Bowing again.

Nova blushed. "Uh... Thanks?"

"Does this mean you'll accept my apology?" He rose again, suddenly more serious.

"Of course." Nova nodded with a small smile, and put out her hand. "Can we... Be friends now?"

He looked at her extended hand, the words he said just a few days ago ringing in his mind.

"I can't associate with someone like you. And was a fool to think for even a moment I could."

He took it with a grateful smile. He'd make up for that mistake. He'd do whatever it took.

Besides, he promised himself in that alleyway he'd do his best to make sure she never cried like that again... He'd been foolish to forget such a thing so easily afterwards.

He made her cry.

And even if she did... He'd never forgive himself for it.

I cannot express how desperate I am to get into the family lore...

But I fear it will be a long while yet. Due to how the story is planned out...

I just know y'all will eat it up...

Also speaking about a long while yet... As usual in my stories I'm getting to a point where the story is getting very long.

Almost a hundred chapters??? Wtf that's a lot.

So as usual I will ask for advice....

Do I cut the book in half? As in continue the story in a separate 'book' just to keep this one from being an ungodly amount of chapters long...

Or do I just let it go on and on?

Usually I split them up (A.Z, Normal and demons) but idk.

What do you think?

Like... When you're looking for a book to read do you prefer superrrr long books that are ongoing? Or a mildly long completed book that has a sequel?

I don't want to scare away any new readers due to it being too long.

Also if I were to spilt them up I will be changing the cover of this book...

Due to the fact that there has yet to be any kissing.

Which cover would you prefer? (Top rated and my favorites from the rant book where this was previously discussed)
