How tf??? I swear sometimes I black out and just write fifty chapters.

Speaking of blacking out...

Nova woke up with a start. Gasping for air. It was like she had awoken from a nightmare... But she couldn't remember having dreams at all.

She felt better than she had. After running who knows how far.

Her memory soon caught up with her thoughts. The Iida house, Zoey safe inside. Then... Nothing. She passed out.

Though she hadn't dwelled on it in the moment, it was obvious she caught some sort of flu or cold from the rain yesterday.

At least she assumed that was yesterday, she didn't know when or where she was. She sat up slowly, her body ached but all chill and fever seemed to be gone. She was still in her uniform, but she was also under a blanket in a unfamiliar bed.

That was enough to put her on edge.

What's more was the fact that the few scrapes she had sustained from falling on her way over were cleaned and bandaged. Even her skin felt freasher, like she had been cleaned. At least had the dirt and sweat wiped off.

To the side of the bed was a table with her phone, a bowl of water and a cloth inside. The air in the room was cool, refreshing. On the floor sat her shoes neatly...

Where the fuck was she?

There was an obvious answer, one that put her on edge.

She was still at the Iida house.

It made sense, she had passed out in their living room. At least they didn't call the police, or worse... Karon. She couldn't imagine the woman's reaction to this situation. She also couldn't imagine the Iidas reaction to... Well Karon. Honestly they would probably either hate her, or pity them.

A deadbeat foster mom

A kelptomaniac

And the daughter of a terrorist

Nova's small 'family' dynamic was a circus compared to theirs. Either a circus or a literal jail. Every member was a criminal in some way or another after all.

Nova pulled herself onto her feet and quietly walked across the room. It was raining again, so looking through the window didn't tell her much about what time it was. She made her way to the door, she didn't want them to find out she was awake yet.

She peeked out the already cracked sliding door into the hallway. It was one she hadn't seen before, a few more doors that could hold anything. Though one was ajar enough to show bunk beds and lots of toys inside. The twin's room, presumably.

She took a few deep breaths. She hated this. She didn't want to walk around their house, she didn't want to see them. If Zoey wasn't there she would probably climb out the window and just run.

But Zoey was here. At least she assumed so. Where else would they be?

Nova ducked back in as soon as she heard a door down the hall open up. Standing to the side of the door against the wall in panic. She closed her eyes and continued taking deep breaths.

Who was it? She hoped it was Zoey, or even one of the twins. Anyone but Tenya, or his mother. Even the older one... Tensei, she wouldn't mind. He seemed nice, from the very small amount she's seen him. He at least hadn't looked horrified when she first met Tenya's family.

Footsteps walked closer to her door, which was still cracked. She considered jumping back into the bed and just pretending she was still asleep. But it was too far and whoever they were was too close.

There was a knock on the door.

Her eyes widened. This was it, she was going to have to say something. Address the situation somehow. She tried to tell herself that it would be awkward for both parties. Nova had passed out in their home, she was sure they didn't exactly appreciate that. Surely they'd understand she was just looking for her sister and she hadn't even realized how sick she was in the first place.

She gulped and whoever was outside the door hesitated. She didn't say anything and neither did they. Silence spread through the house, it was quiet enough in the hall and Nova's room for her to hear voices on the other side of the house. The rest of the family.

"...May I come in?"

A voice outside asked. Nova nearly threw up.

It wasn't Zoey. Or a twin, or Tensei or Mrs Iida or even Tenya...

It was an older deeper voice Nova hadn't ever heard in person, only online in public interviews. Or on reposted news reports.

Taro Iida. The original Ingeuinum.

Her fingers shook and she swallowed, her throat burning. Mr Iida was here. Of course he was, this was his house after all. He was asking to come in, too much time was passing. Nova tried to get a grip on her fear while simultaneously getting her thoughts in order.

"...s-sure." She whispered, backing away from the door. She couldn't exactly tell him no, no he couldn't walk into the room of his house that she invaded. She was the invader here, not him. Especially after everything her family had done.

Zoey stealing

Her father maiming him

He opened the door slowly, before flicking on the light. Nova tried her best not to flinch, standing in the middle of the room. Her heart was pounding.

Taro Iida was a tall man. He seemed to have at least a few inches on Tenya, who was one of the tallest in her class. He had a short and neat beard from the curve of his jaw to his chin. His hair was a deep blue, darker than that of his sons. His eyes were dark red. Over one was a scar, from his cheek to his hairline. Though it didn't effect his sight, just appearance. It made him intimidating. In his hand was a cane for support in walking.

According to the news reports after the attack. Taro Iida's quirk were his four engines, one in each shoulder and each leg. Not only had Rikko Kurayami injured him, but he had used his metal manipulation quirk to completely rip the engines out. All but the outside metal that separated the machine from his flesh.

He was out of commission for years.

The cane was a reminder of how he still couldn't walk the same way after the brutal encounter...

With one of the strongest villains in Japanese history.

The encounter... With Nova's father.

Kurayami.

He looked at Nova, then at the bed she had been resting on. Once again neither said a word to each other. Nova didn't know why he wasn't saying anything, she couldn't because of how utterly terrified she was. What was his excuse?

"How are you feeling?" He asked finally. Nova started to wish he'd go back to not talking anymore.

"Fine." She whispered, looking away to the side. "...Thank you."

She wasn't sure what she meant by that, it was a combination of thanking him for asking, and thanking his family for letting her sleep in one of their beds.

"You're welcome... Nova." He muttered, she tensed. She didn't know what it was about him saying her first name, but it put her on edge. She couldn't help but think about her last name, over and over again. Of all the things it represents, of all the things it did to this family.

"I'm... I'm sorry..." She whispered, Bowing her head. "For everything, the keys the... Passing out and both me and my sister coming in unannounced... I didn't mean to disturb you or your family."

"You should sit down again. You look unwell." The man said suddenly, not addressing her apology.

She sat down on a chair behind her. He was right, she was unwell. Her body and head ached. Not to mention the trembling from nervousness. At least if she was sitting, she knew she wouldn't fall over.

"You don't have anything to apologize for. I understand your worry for your sister, and you couldnt help feeling sick. Not too mention the keys, which Zoey has already taken the blame for." He said calmly. Sitting down in the edge of the bed, across from her chair. He let out a sigh.

"And if you mean for your apology to go any deeper than the events of today, I can't accept it." He continued.

Nova's heart jumped. She understood what he was implying, the events before today. The events ten years ago.

Kurayami's attack.
