83: 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙸𝚒𝚍𝚊𝚜
"The Iida family."
The man stated curtly. Looking down at Nova. He almost seemed confused, possibly because of Nova's temporary but obvious horror.
The Iida Family?! She was at Iida's house? No way. It had to be a different family right? It couldn't actually be his. But if it was...
Oh dear God was his dad here? The retired pro hero her father maimed ten years ago?! If Tenya didn't like her, his father would probably drive her out of his home with a touch and pitchfork.
"R-right... Can um... You tell Zoey to... Come out?" Nova asked, her voice suddenly cracking. Her heart was beating faster than it ever had in a situation that didn't involve combat.
The man stared at her and let out a long sigh.
"I have a pot of soup I need to attend too. The family room is just down the hall to the left. Please take off your shoes before entering." He said, Nova assumed that was a 'no'.
He then cast a slightly judgmental look at her well loved high tops before turning and walking down the hall to the right. Supposedly to tend to his soup.
Nova's fingers shook as she undid her laces. She felt like she was in enemy territory. Like any second she'd be under attack, even though she was the one trespassing. All she wanted was to get Zoey and then get as far away from this huge and beautiful house as she possibly could.
Nova took a few small steps forward, wearing only unmatched socks. She passed by a decorative table with fresh flowers and a bowl of keys to cars that were probably much nicer than the beat up one Karon had. She felt like she was going to barf. How come out of all of the students in her school...
Zoey had to magically befriend Iida's brother?! Nova didn't even know he had a younger brother. But that was the only option that made sense. Unless the butler had a little eight year old son that hung out in this mansion, which wouldn't make much sense.
Nova slowy crept up to the door that was to the left of the Hallway. It was slightly ajar and Nova could hear voices.
Laughing
Zoey and another voice, giggling. There was also separate laughter from a voice just slightly deeper. Male, not Tenya. Though Nova couldn't recall if she had ever heard Tenya laugh before, she was certain it wouldn't sound like that if he did.
"Alright you two. I think that's enough running."
A feminine voice said, but there was a hint of humor to the tone.
"Yes ma'am." Zoey said with a giggle. Nova almost smiled through her nervousness. At least Zoey was behaving herself.
"Noo! Momma I still haven't proved I'm faster than Zoey!" A small boyish voice whined.
"Cause you're not." Zoey said, a small amount of tease in her voice.
"Yes I am! Tell her Tensei! Tenya!" The boy pleaded. Nova flinched at the name. At both.
"You're very fast but... I think she might have you beat."
Tensei... That was the oldest brother wasn't it? He must be staying here after the Stain attack... That would explain the newly installed ramp at the front door. And then of course there was Tenya, who was completely oblivious to the presence of Nova. She wondered suddenly if his family knew about the Stain fight. About how he killed the man who hurt his brother. Surely they did, did they know of her involvement too? Either way Nova knew for certain she'd never mention it. She just needed to call Zoey and go home.
She took a breath and summoned all the courage she had before carefully nudging open the door just a hair more.
"Um... Zoey?" Nova whispered, peeking her head in.
Zoey was sitting on the ground on a rug with another kid her age. A little boy who strikingly... looked exactly like Tenya. Though his hair was significantly messier and darker in color, and his eyes seemed to be a shade of red.
On the couch sat a woman with black hair and glasses, next to her was another little boy. The same age as the one on the ground by Zoey. The two looked nearly identical, but the one on the couch seemed shyer in nature. Sitting closer to Zoey and the boy on the floor was a man in a wheelchair, Tensei Iida. Ingenium. He was looking at the two on the floor with a tender smile, before his eyes traveled up to Nova.
Finally there was Tenya Iida, sitting in a chair between Tensei's and the couch, a book in hand. One that immediately went ignored the moment nova looked into the room. "What-"
"NOVAA!!" Zoey exclaimed in pure delight, scrambling up from her spot in the floor. Zoey crossed the floor quicker than Nova could back away, grabbing her arm and pulling her fully into the room.
Tenya dropped his book and immediately stood up, Nova couldn't help but feel bad, suddenly seeing her in his home must have been a huge shock. His mouth was slightly agape in confusion as he struggled to understand why in heavens name she of all people was here.
"These are my friends! Takashi, Tougo, Tensei, Tenya and Mrs Iida!" Zoey said, excitedly pointing out everyone in the room. The introductions were said quicker than anyone could process, the names of the two twin boys blended together in Nova's mind.
Zoey paused. "...Hey you guys sure like names that start with T, don't you?" She said, as though just realizing it. "Anyways this is my big sister-"
"Nova?" Tenya whispered.
"Yeah!" Zoey smiled proudly, holding onto Nova's hand. It was likely the only thing keeping the older girl from running away. Her duty to her sister. "How did you know that?" Zoey tilted her head at Tenya who cleared his throat, looking from Nova, to Zoey and finally to his mother. Who was staring at Nova, looking quite pale.
"Me and Iida go to UA together." Nova said, crouching to Zoey's level. She tried to ignore all the stares and focused on what really mattered. Zoey. "Do you have all your things? It's time to go."
"Awwwh can't we stay a little longer?" Zoey asked with pleading eyes. Her request didn't sway Nova at all, the teen was terrified. Every bone in her body screaming at her to get out. Before Mrs Iida formed words.
"No. Where's your bag?" Nova said sternly.
"The foyer," Zoey said, looking a little sad.
"Hey why doesn't your sister look like you?" The twin Zoey had been playing with walked up to them curiously, at least he seemed ignorant to who she was.
"Why should she look like me?" Zoey asked with crossed arms. Her tone defensive.
"Because you're sisters?" He said as though it was obvious. It made sense considering the fact that every Iida son seemed to look almost identical. Nova didn't have time to dwell on the similarities though.
"Me and Zoey are foster sisters." Nova explained to the boy patiently, clearing her throat. She glanced up at Tenya who was still looking on in shock.
"We don't have the same parents."
She said, making full eye contact. She hoped he understood. She hoped he wouldn't pass any anger he may have for Nova's family onto Zoey. She had nothing to do with Rikko, she was more innocent than Nova was. She needed them to know that.
Zoey was not a Kurayami.
"Come on." Nova stood back up. Tugging Zoey's hand. She looked around the room at each Iida. She then Bowed, just slightly lower than necessary. Closing her eyes tightly, hoping when she opened them she'd wake up from this nightmare.
"Thank you for watching over Zoey." She said politely, she couldn't leave without any sort of manners. That would make all of this much worse.
When she opened her eyes again the nightmare was still very much real.
After the thank you she promptly left, almost running out of the room. Leaving behind four stunned Iidas.
She only stopped to pull on her shoes, not even bothering with the laces. Zoey trailed along slower after Nova let go of her hand. Glancing backdown the hall with a new anxious look. As though she could now sense how nova was feeling.
"Is everything okay?" Zoey asked with a frown. Nova kept her eyes on her shoes as Zoey hesitated in the middle of the hall.
"Yes. Just put your shoes on." Nova said, looking up as Zoey slowly walked over.
"Mkay." She said unsurely, clearly not buying it at all. But she sat down and pulled on her school shoes. Nova helped with the buckle practically picked Zoey up afterwards.
"Let's go home."

Yeah so in this story Tenya has an older brother (Tensei, duh) AND two younger twin brothers.
Takashi and Tougo
(If you remember, Zoey actually mentioned having twins in her class, one of which possibly had a crush on her)
And since I didn't give Tenya his cannon red eyes... I decided I'd give it to them instead.
