"You all have a big day ahead of you. Today is hero informatics."
Aizawa said, wasting no time after entering the room. Nova nervously bit her lip. She hoped it was nothing physical, she didn't feel like fighting. With her tiredness and soreness from the festival. Plus she really didn't want to face her classmates in any sort of battle again. At least not today.
The rest of the class seemed worried about a test. But Nova didn't mind those, especially not for heroics. It was one of her best subjects. That and history, but they seemed to go hand in hand most of the time.
"...You need code names."
Nova shrunk down. That was even worse in her opinion. Code names? Nova couldn't think of a code name.
"Time to pick your hero identites."
Once again, her classmates seemed to disagree with her. So she kept quiet, as always.
"This is related to the pro hero drafts I spoke about before the festival." He said. "It's basically like a hero or an agency investing in your future as pros, as I've stated before these could be temporary. Any pros can pull back their offer depending on if they change their minds or not."
"Stupid selfish adults." Mineta mumbled under his breath.
Nova found this logical though. Of course they should have the right to change their mind as they learn about their interns, especially if they were unprepared for their behavior or weaknesses.
"Now. Here are the results for those of you who received offers." Aizawa clicked a button and several graphs started to pop up, showing their offers from most to least.
Todoroki: 4,123
Bakugou: 3,456
Tokoyami: 360
Iida: 301
Kaminari: 272
Yaoyorozu: 108
Kirishima: 68
Uraraka: 20
Sero: 14

Kurayami: 2
Nova let her head rest in the table again. Of course. She expected this, but she would have preferred to have none rather than a number so low. At least that way it wouldn't be displayed for everyone to see.
Out of the tens of thousands of heroes and hero agencies in Japan...
Only two were willing to take her in.
"Normally they're a lot more spread out. Aizawa mentioned, referencing the fact that Bakugou and Todoroki's offers were in the thousands.
"Awh man. No fair." Denki whined, slumping back, even though he had more than a hundred times Nova's offers. She didn't say anything.
Nova as a person was a social controversy most hero agencies wouldn't touch with a hundred foot pole. Not to mention how most of them were probably wronged, or knew someone who was injured by her father. It made sense to not extend an offer to her. But it still hurts having that right in her face.
"Wow... Todoroki and Bakugou got more than Kurayami... Even though she won." Jirou whispered under her breath.
"Awh... I'm sorry Nova." Uraraka said from behind Iida, holding his chair. She felt bad, but at the same time she was completely ecstatic. She had twenty offers!!! But Nova only had two and Midoriya didn't seem to have any.
No one else mentioned Nova, they were all either too excited for their own. Or too bummed. She glanced at it again, Shoji's name wasn't on the list. Neither was Midoriya's. Guess they didn't get any offers.
"Now. We still have agencies that have agreed to take any other students. So all of you will be going on a work study. Even if you didn't receive any specific offers." Aizawa explained. "This is why you'll be choosing your hero identites. Write down your chosen name on these white boards, make sure you take this seriously or-"
"YOU'LL HAVE HELL TO PAY LATER!!!"
Midnight suddenly burst into the room. Finding this the perfect opportunity to reveal herself.
"Miss Midnight will be approving your names... Meanwhile I'll be... Down here." He suddenly pulled on his sleeping bag and sunk down to the floor. Disappearing behind his desk.
"He's not allowed to approve names." Midnight started without explanation.
White boards and dry erase markers were passed around. Nova stared at hers nervously. She'd never thought of a hero name.
"Awh man... We're presenting these?" Denki mumbled.
Nova bit her lip. Did it really matter what she chose? Everyone would just call her 'Kurayami' anyways. Like they always did. No one ever listened to her when she asked for anything else.
Although... Uraraka had been calling her Nova recently. Same with Shoji and Midoriya. So maybe this could work.
Slowly people started coming up with their names.
Can't stop twinkling.
Froppy.
King explosion murder.
Red riot.
They were all unique to each person, and pretty creative. Although midnight did turn down Bakugou's And Mina when she said 'Alien Queen'. Nova bit her lip and looked down at her board, still blank.
Iida seemed to be having the same struggle beside her. Writing and erasing several times with a very serious look on his face.
Todoroki stepped up.
"Shoto."
Was all he said. His board just displaying his first name. No title or description either. Just Shoto. Nova liked it.
Deku.
Pinkie.
Uravity.
Lord explosion murder God dynamite.
Iida seemed to come to a decision. Stepping up with his board.
Tenya.
Nova had expected him to use Ingenium. He'd be the fourth generation if she remembered correctly. His grandmother, Father and brother all used the title. Passing it down.
But maybe he thought it was too soon after his brother's attack. Besides he might not have to retire, all Nova knew was that he was injured. Not how badly.
His name seemed to give her courage. She stepped up next, face red. She hoped the two boys before her didn't think she was just copying them.
Nova.
Nova didn't really want to rebrand herself. She liked her name, maybe this way... People will use her first name instead of her family name. Like she was officially giving the whole world permission to use her first name.
"Mannn, you should have said Supernova." Denki said with a sigh. "Missed opportunity."
Nova shrugged and looked away, towards Midnight.
"Just your first name?" She asked, and Nova nodded. Midnight nodded back in approval.
And that was the end of that.

"Hey Nova!" Uraraka said with a smile after class was dismissed for lunch.
"Hey..." Nova said with a small nervous smile. She didn't know what she expected after the sports festival, maybe for things to be the same as before. But now... Her allies in the Calvary battle seemed to want to be friends even after it was all over.
"You should sit with us at lunch!" Uraraka said with a smile. Lunch? Like in the Cafeteria? Nova hadn't eaten there all semester. Just grabbed her food and ran back to the classroom to eat with Shoji. She looked over at the boy as he approached.
"Shoji too." Midoriya said, walking up behind Uraraka. "If you guys want."
Shoji looked over at Nova expectantly, making her realize this was her call.
"Oh um... Y-yeah sure." Nova said with her usual small smile. "If everyone's okay with it..."
"Of course! Right Iida?" Midoriya asked, nudging the boy who hadn't really been paying attention.
"Hmm? Oh... Yes if course." He pushed up his glasses. Nova looked away nervously, she still didn't think Iida liked her very much at all. But... He seemed nicer after their fight at the sports festival. Helping her up and all. He even woke her up before Aizawa came in this morning, without lecturing her.
"Yayy!! Come on!" Uraraka grabbed Nova's hand with a smile and hugged her along.
Nova couldn't help but smile back.
