Midnight's heels clicked on the concrete as she quickly walked towards the fallen student. Pressing a manicured finger against his neck.

"Todoroki is out cold! The match goes to Kurayami!!!"

Nova's eyes widened. The whole display was hidden from her behind the wall of ice. He was... Knocked out?

She quickly ran around it, shivering as she was exposed to the frozen temperature of the ice wall. Like she was walking around a very snowy day in only a t-shirt. She looked across the field in shock. Todoroki was laying face first in his own ice.

Truly out cold.

"...Whaaaaaat?!" Mic asked in confusion. The crowd was almost frozen in shock. This match... That had been anticipated since the very beginning of the festival...

Was over in seconds.

On accident.

Because Nova sure as hell hadn't intended to knock Todoroki out with anything, let alone a bathroom sign. But here she was. Looking at the once very intermediating boy laying on his chest without moving at all.

It was... Over.

Suddenly cheers erupted from the stands as the crowd got over their initial shock. Their minds taking several moments to understand fully what had just happened.

"Now way!!! Nova Kurayami ends the match in one move!!! If you blinked you probably missed it!!! So here's the instant replay!!!!"

"What..."

"Just..."

"Happened?!"

The students in 1A muttered in absolute shock. One second Todoroki was launching an attack, the next he was falling face first onto the ground.

"She beat him!!!" Denki said, jumping up. "She actually beat Todoroki!"

"That was so fast..."

"Was she messing with us this whole time?? She could have beaten them all that quickly!" Kirishima said in shock. "That was crazy."

"GIVE IT UP TO NOVA KURAYAMI!!! THE WINNER OF THIS SPORTS FESTIVAL!!!"

There was cheering in the crowd. Loud and thunderous. Shoji let out a breath.

He had been worried they wouldn't applaud her if she won. Maybe her fears were rubbing off on him. But this crowd... They would cheer no matter the winner.

It kind of disturbed him.

How adults got so into a competition that revolved around highschoolers hurting each other. Which is why... Although he wouldn't tell his classmates...

He lost on purpose.

Shoji had been aware of the fact that they'd probably only let in a certain number of students from the obstacle race. So he purposely hung back. He didn't want to admit it to the others who seemed so invested in this.

He didn't want them to think he thought lower of them for participating. So he acted disappointed when he lost. Even though he wasn't in the slightest.

But he was still glad Nova participated and won. Only because it was a way to show the world her true colors. She wasn't just the daughter of Rikko Kurayami.

She was the girl who saved a boy from falling during the obstacle race.

She was the girl that made sure her teammates won during the Calvary battle.

She was the girl who was beaten before her match... But still had the determination to fight and win.

She was the girl who fought against Bakugou and Iida without hurting them. She beat Bakugou and she battled Iida with a certain gentleness that was obvious if you were watching closely.

She was the girl who ended the long awaited last match in seconds. Against an opponent said to be one of the strongest in their grade.

Shoji smiled under his mask as Midnight grabbed Nova's hand and lifted it up in a fist as a symbol of victory.

She... was Nova Kurayami.

Nova practically has whiplash. One second she was being attacked by Todoroki, and the next second he was laying face first on the ground. Then after that Mic was screaming her name and Midnight was telling her she won.

And not just the match... The whole festival.

Nova had won the whole festival.

It was all over... Nova felt like she was going to collapse in relief. The crowd had stopped it's clapping. Now mumbling to each other as Nova was rushed off the field. Todoroki was collected by the robot medics and taken to recovery girl's office.

Nova hoped she didn't hurt him too badly. That it was just a little bump and he'd recover quickly. Without a concussion or brain injury. She really couldn't even remember what happened. She knew what happened. She hit him over the head but...

She hadn't intended too. Usually when fighting she has to at least think about what she was doing. She also had to move her body to direct the metal around her. Usually sensing it before hand and choosing to move it.

But in her panic... She hadn't done any of those things. Her body just pulled all the metal close to her towards her body. It was a move she'd done before but... With intention.

But today... In her panic...

Her quirk acted on its own to protect her. Hitting a target she couldn't even see...

Was it a coincidence? Was Todoroki just in the closest path towards her?

Or... Did something else happen?

The awards ceremony was the conclusion of this entirely too long festival.

Nova felt exhausted. Standing on a platform underneath the field. Todoroki and Bakugou and Tokoyami on either side of her.

None of them said anything to each other. Not even Bakugou, who stood glaring into space next to Tokoyami. The boys tied for third. Todoroki beat Tokoyami in the semi finals. And Nova beat Bakugou.

On another slightly higher platform Todoroki stood with his hands in his pockets. Nova was glad to see him conscious, though she didn't say so. She didn't want to come off as rude or anything.

She might've won but she didn't feel like a winner. Although she did have a small warm feeling in her chest, one that had been there ever since she heard the crowd cheer for her win.

The crowd... Was cheering for her.

She fiddled her fingers as she stood, Cementos was waiting for the all clear from Mic to raise up the platforms. Nova tried to ignore it, but the grey man seemed to look at her a lot.

It seemed like it was against his own will. Like he couldn't help but glance at her every few seconds. Nova was used to the feeling though, it happened a lot when someone knew who her father was. But there was something different about him, like he wasn't sure what to make of her.

"Alright, brace yourselves." Cementos said in his calm deep voice. The platforms turned into pillars and the ceiling of the dark room they were in opened up to let them through. The light of day and the cheers of the crowds became obvious and unmuffled.

Nova suddenly wished she could go back.

A/N: For the first time in sports festival history...(by that I mean the anime, manga and my personal fics)

Bakugou Katsuki.... Didn't win the sports festival.

I usually don't like it when fics change events from the original series to make everything happening revolve around their OC or y/n. So I normally stray away from making my OC's win or even go far in the festival.

But when it comes to Nova and her character it wouldn't make much sense for her to lose.

Because the whole point of this story if the fact that her father was a completely overpowered villain. Therefore she inherited his quirk.

Instead of having physical weaknesses. Nova has a plethora of metal weaknesses.

*Mild spoilers for Normal*

Which was the complete opposite of Kira as an example.

Kira was (for the most part) a character that didn't have many metal weaknesses. She had trauma of course. But she was very level headed and confident.

While physically she was always at a disadvantage. She had to overcome that with her mind and strategy. She knowingly gave up her spot because she didn't care and didn't have anything she felt she needed to prove.

I thought it would be interesting to switch the types of weaknesses they had.

And now I'm rambling...

Oh well! I'm sure someone will appreciate a small dive into what I was thinking when writing/planning the sports festival!
