"What the hell?" Aizawa stood up at alert when the door was practically thrown open.
"He's gone!" The intruder yelped. Eyes wide, his chest heaved from running and his pupils darted around frantically.
"What?" Recovery girl asked.
"Kubota! What are you doing here?!" Aizawa snapped. The younger Abal brother was standing in the doorway.
"Kain is gone. He made a run for it." Kubota told them. Looking as panicked as Nova felt knowing her attacker was on the loose. "I'm sorry this is all my fault-"
"How so?" Aizawa asked, now that he was standing he was towering over the boy. Who stood his ground.
"I knew my brother hated Kurayami... He couldn't stop talking about how angry he was..." Kubota admitted. "I should have warned you guys, but... I never thought he'd do something like this."
"Great. Where'd he go?" Aizawa asked, walking towards the door.
"I don't know where, I saw him after my match. He walked into the crowd outside, I tried to follow him but there were too many people... I lost him." Kubota said, that explained the panting.
"Shit." Aizawa cursed, storming out and pulling out his phone. Alerting the other pros to where he was last seen.
Nova sat up more, suddenly on edge in the presence of one of the Abal brothers. Although Kubota came to help... Right? He told Aizawa where Kain went. He was turning his brother in... Right?
"No no, you lay back down sweetie." Recovery girl said, pushing Nova back by her shoulder. "You have a lot of bruising internal and external. Not to mention several broken ribs. And a possible concussion."
Nova obediently laid down, biting her lip. "Can you fix it? Like you do with Midoriya?" She asked hesitantly. Midoriya shattered his arms all the time right? These injuries should be a piece of cake for her...
"That boy... By far my worst patient." Recovery girl mumbled, then she sighed. "Usually I would make sure the bones were aligned properly, give you a kiss and be done with it. But healing takes energy from your body. The poison used to nullify your quirk also weakened you significantly. It would be too dangerous to manually heal you now. I'll have to doctor you up without my quirk and wait for the venom to clear your body."
"How long would that take?" Nova asked, she glanced over at Kubota who was still standing at the door.
"Could be a full twenty four hours." He muttered under his breath. "It depends on how potent it was."
"I'd say it's some of his worst." Recovery girl muttered, looking at Nova's arm again. "I haven't seen sepsis streaks so dark before."
"Me neither... If only I knew what he used... Maybe I could help." Kubota said, he took another small step in. But he stayed near the door, like he expected to be kicked out.
"What do you mean? What he used?" Nova asked nervously.
"His quirk... Our quirk... It changed effects depending on what we drink. The more we drink of whatever it is the more potent it is." Kubota explained. "But looking at how dark it is and how strong the effect was... He probably used a type of alcohol."
"Nevermind that." Recovery girl shook her head. "You need rest! And you need to go back to the stands." She said to each student.
"What about the matches?" Nova asked her
"Matches? I can't let you fight with bruising, broken bones and poison in your system." Recovery girl sighed. "We have to pull you."
"What?!" Nova asked, sitting up again. Her stomach burned and she groaned. Holding it tightly.
"Lay down." Recovery girl repeated. "Abal will fight in your place since he was the one you bested. It's happened before, students get pulled every year."
"What?!" Kubota asked. "I don't wanna take her place!" He argued.
"Someone has too. I've already told Presentation Mic that she was too injured to continue." Recovery girl told him.
"...you should do it." Nova muttered, wiping her nose.
"But you beat me." The boy argued. He felt horrible. "All of this is my fault anyways. You'd be perfectly healthy right now if it weren't for my brother -"
"IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT OKAY?!" Nova snapped. Then she rubbed her eyes again as more tears fell out of them. "I'm sorry..." She whispered and shook her head.
"W-what-"
"I went to hard during our match because I was angry... But I shouldn't have taken it out on you." She sniffled.
"It's fine..." Kubota muttered, subconsciously rubbing the side of his head. Where she had kicked him during their match. Recovery girl took notice and immediately started to check the area out. Placing a kiss in his hair. He frowned but didn't fight her much.
"No it's not..." Nova shook her head, covering her eyes.
"I of all people know that it's not..."

"Ding ding!"
There was an electric chirping sound from the side of the 1-A stands. The noise happened Everytime a match ended and a player advanced. The hologram showing the ballot updated to show the next fights.
But there hadn't been a match yet. Why was it changing now?
They turned to look at it. Iida's eyes landed on his own match, which had changed.
Iida vs Abal
"Huh?!" Uraraka jumped up. "Why does it say you're fighting Abal? Nova won..."
"That must mean..." Midoriya began to mumbled sightly, eyes wide. "That Nova isn't allowed to fight again..."
"No way... Is she that hurt?!" Kirishima asked in confusion. "What the hell even happened?! I'm tired of not knowing what's going onnn." He groaned and slumped in his feet.
"Uraraka, Bakugo." Vlad said, appearing in the doorway. "Are you ready for your match?"
"Fucking finally. This is the worst sports festival ever." Bakugo said, stomping out the door.
"Is Nova okay?" Uraraka asked, following Bakugo and Vlad to the doorway.
"She's being treated now. Recovery girl simply said she wasn't in any condition to fight." Vlad explained.
"Did they catch the attackers?" Iida asked in confusion, the festival was beginning... That meant everything was in order now right?
"They've apprehended one. But apparently there were three, one's left campus. We have a team in hot pursuit..."
"And... The other?" Sato asked nervously, the rest of the class waited for the answer. Scared for what it would be.
"...we don't know their identity yet. Kurayami doesn't remember details. But we're questioning the woman we caught as we speak. She'll tell us what we need eventually, especially since we called in detective Naomasa." Vlad said honestly. He didn't like telling these kids that technically...
Two attackers out of three were still running around somewhere. But if the third was anything like Kain, he was probably on the run.
"HEY HEY HEY!!!" Mic said over the speakers. If he was still worried you could no longer tell. His voice holding the same gusto it did at the beginning. "I hope you guys are ready for the last match of round two!!! Take your seats! In five minutes we'll see Uraraka and Bakugou from class 1-A go toe to toe!"
"That's our que... Let's go. The rest of you Stay in here, if you have to leave for whatever reason go in pairs." Vlad instructed. "The last thing we need is something like that happening again..."
"Yes sir." Iida nodded. He watched as Uraraka waved slightly to them.
"Good luck to you Uraraka! Y-you as well... Bakugo." He said to his friend and his classmate. But there was a certain amount of anxiety in his tone.
He didn't know why he was worried, obviously his teachers had this situation under control. And he was fighting Kubota Abal, whom he already knew what his quirk was. It shouldn't be a difficult fight. He could win and... Make his family proud.
Iida paused for a moment.
His family... All throughout the first rounds of the sports festival he was obsessing over the idea of them watching. Obsessing over making them proud, even when he wasn't on the battlefield. But...
After seeing Kurayami... He hadn't even thought of them. Not even once. In fact his anxieties shifted completely. He was still worried...
But he was worried for her.
He never expected himself to wish for her to be the one he would fight. But now he felt exactly like that. He wished he'd see her, even if it was during a fight. He was the class representative after all, it was his job to worry over his classmates right? Especially when they were hurt. But right now she was all he could think about. Every possible situation, everything that he saw. What exactly happened before her match?! Who... who would do something like that??
He understood simply not trusting her... but resulting the physical violence and hair cutting?! It was downright revolting! The culprits should be hunted down and imprisoned. Even if Kurayami wasn't a great person, it didn't give someone the right to harm her.
Iida sighed and closed his eyes. Taking off his glasses and rubbing his temples. Trying to rid his thoughts of her and her match. It wasn't helpful to obsess over it... he tried to think of something else, something calming.
The moment he did remembered the weight of her head on his shoulder... the day on the bus after the USJ attack. The light smell of her hair...
He shook his head again. Leaning to open the bag by his feet. He had to think of his match, not of Kurayami. She'd be fine, she was in good hands. Why was he thinking about her so much?! He took out a box of orange juice and poked a hole in it with a straw. Drinking the whole thing quickly. He had almost ten orange juice boxes stashed in there for his match. His quirk worked best when he drank ample amounts of the substance. It was the best type of fuel for him. While his brother Tensei preferred lemonade.
"You okay...Iida?" Midoriya's voice pulled Iidas attention away from the juice box, even as his quirk let out an almost undetectable rumble from the new fuel.
"Me? Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
