Nova was shoved into the dark.

Her arm felt like it was on fire. The small sting she had felt five seconds ago felt like someone was pressing a hot fireplace poker into her flesh. Her arm throbbed with each beat of her heart, every pulse seemed to push the pain higher up her arm.

She felt sick, and for once it wasn't because of her anxiety. She dizzy. She felt weak.

And all of that... Was the least of her worries right now.

She was practically thrown through a doorway into a small room. It was like a large walk-in closet. Where they stored things used in the festivals, not just this year. But all of them. She hit something, she didn't know what it was. A wall? A shelf? It didn't matter much what it was. Nova's head was spinning.

"Hold her." She heard a voice say. It sounded familiar, but vaguely. The closet was still dark. Too dark for her to make out any distinguishing features of the three individuals infront of her.

She felt two grab her arms and shoulders, pressing her against the wall. She grunted and struggled, kicking and trying to hit her attackers anywhere. But her strength had rapidly disappeared. It was that stab in her arm, it had done something to her.

She knocked into a shelf with her shoulder, hearing something clatter to the ground.

It sounded like metal.

But... It couldn't be, could it? Because... Nova couldn't feel it at all. There was no hum or buzz in the back of her mind. Whenever she was around metal, she was usually aware of it. Like a warmth around her.

Now she felt cold.

Her eyes widened as she realized that she couldn't feel anything. There was no metal... No. There was metal. But Nova's quirk... It wasn't working. Her ears felt heavy as her piercings hung from them. They felt cold and unnatural. Nothing like the warmth metal usually provided.

"Help-" Nova cried out in panic, only for a hand to slap itself over her mouth. The contact stung and almost suffocated her. She gasped for breath, feeling skin against hers.

"Not a fucking word villain." Someone hissed in the dark.

Nova bit the hand. Digging her teeth into the flesh, so hard she tasted blood on her tongue and felt in drip down her lips.

She was rewarded with a hard punch to the gut and a slap in the face. Whoever this was, they weren't messing around.

"What... do you.. want?" Nova panted, she had almost thrown up after that first hit. And it felt as though there would be many more coming.

"I thought I said not a word." He said. Nova felt another hard hit to her gut. This one caused her to cough. She would have fallen forward if it weren't for the two others holding her against the wall. She was barely touching the ground. Standing in her toes as her body ached. "You're not a very good listener." Whoever hit her hissed. She felt his breath on her face. He was getting way too close. And Nova couldn't fight it.

"Let's just hurry up." Another voice whispered. This one was feminine, and nervous. "We're gonna get in so much trouble..."

"Is this a good idea?" Another one asked, a boy. He had the deepest voice, that came from the biggest person in the room. It also displayed the most anxiety.

"Shut up you fucking cowards..." The first voice said. He seemed to be the leader of this twisted group. "You really want a villain walking around our school? You said yourself someone had to teach her a lesson."

"Whatever. Just hurry up. I'm too close to graduation to get expelled over something as dumb as this." The girl said again in a snooty voice that was a few pitches too shrill. Nova jerked away, trying to free herself from their grips.

"These are third years?!" She thought as she heard the girl speak about graduation.

Nova tried to fight against her upperclassmen, but she was weak and quirkless. It had been a long time since Nova felt this helpless. Tears streaming down her face despite how desperately she wanted to hold them in.

"Just do as you're told." The ringleader snapped.

"Hey! Don't talk to me like that!" The girl argued. "I'm your girlfriend not your fucking slave!"

Nova took their distraction as an opening. Kicking the boy infront of her in the gut. Hard. Then she headbutted the girl and elbowed the tall one. Who was already letting go in panic.

"Fucking bitch!" The leader snapped, before Nova could make a run for the door he grabbed her by her hair. Nova felt a large pain in her head as he hit her on the shelf beside them. Nova almost crumbled to the ground at the contact but the girl gripped her arm and pulled her up. Her long nails digging into Nova's arm even through her jacket.

"I fucking warned you to stay away from our school." The boy said after recovering, still gripping her hair tightly. "You really think we were gonna let you get anywhere close to winning our school festival?" He punched her.

Nova struggled a little. Tears streaming down her cheeks, her heart beat twice as fast as it had been when she was worried about her match. It felt like it was going to explode maybe even tear through her chest. It burned, so did her stomach and cheeks and hair and arms. Her head with spinning, either from him hitting her against the wall. Or from whatever they stuck her with too take away her quirk.

"Stop. Fucking. Moving." He said slowly, hissing out the words like a snake. Nova felt something under her chin, something sharp. She tensed up, realizing it was probably the same needle used earlier. But it didn't feel like a normal medical needle. It was bigger, more rough. It wasn't metal, Nova didn't even need her quirk to know that. The texture was... Odd.

His face was probably inches from hers. There was a little light sneaking through the cracks of the door. The light hit dark almost black eyes and black hair... With a few white streaks.

It was the boy from the hallway. Her eyes widened. This was Kubota's brother. The brother of the boy she was supposed to fight. Was that why he was doing this? So that his brother didn't lose? Or did he really just hate her this much?

Nova couldn't see what pressed against her neck, but it still made her hold still. Her arm was swollen and felt like it was going to fall off after being stabbed with that. She didn't want to think about what it would do if too close to her face.

"You really should have left when I told you too." Kain whispered.

Nova felt a hit in her ribs. It was harder than a punch. Almost like he kicked her. Then again, and again and again. Blow after blow. Nova sobbed but was too weak to even cry out. Eventually the girl let go of her, she fell to the ground. After a few minutes Nova was almost numb to the blows. Barely feeling each new one as she slipped in and out of unconsciousness.

"Wait stop." The taller boy whispered.

"Don't fucking-"

"The match ended." He warned before Kain could snap at him.

"Shit." Kain whispered. Nova panted, on a ball on the cold floor.

"Let's get out of here!" The girl pleaded.

"Wait..." Kain snapped. Nova felt him kneel over her and grip her jacket, pulling her up. She whimpered in pain, everything hurt. Her ribs, head, arm and stomach especially.

"One last thing."
