23: 𝙷𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚜
"I'm gonna destroy both your hands and then everything else."
Nova looked up at the villain who was staring at her with wide Red eyes, crazed with pain and anger.
Nova almost regretted cutting his hand off. Almost, but she couldn't help but be glad she helped Me Aizawa. Even if that meant he was planning on torturing her.
"Maybe your screams will make All Might finally show up." He bent down. "Although... I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't save you at all. Kurayami."
Nova struggled slightly. Subtly gripping the metal of her sword, thinking of a way to pierce the beast 'Nomu' that was looming over her. A hand on her back and head. Holding her head up and her body against the ground.
She wondered if it was human...
If it would be wrong to hurt it... Kill it. There was a part of her, not even that deep... That wanted to kill the beast. Stab it. Destroy it. Human or not.
Same with the villain above her. But she couldn't. That was evil. It was like her father was whispering in her ear, telling her all of the villainous things she should do.
She grunted and her finger brushed against the sword she had used to cut off Shigaraki's arm. Changing it's form and shape once again. Shigaraki didn't seem to notice.
She really, really hoped this thing wasn't a human being.
The blade spun, like a saw of sorts. It sliced through the two limbs that were holding her down. Blood spilled on her and she quickly rolled away from it and Shigaraki.
"DAMN IT! NOMU!" Shigaraki yelled
Nova jumped up. Her spinning blade had cut through the Nomu's arms and one of his legs. Allowing her to get away. The limbs fell to the ground with a thud, the leg was almost as big as Nova was.
The blade spun back towards her and she caught it. Morphing it back to a sword as she did. She backed up towards where Aizawa was. Helping him beat off the remaining thugs. Though she tried her best not to slice them open.
"Are you okay?!" Mr Aizawa asked her when they stood side by side.
"I'm fine." She panted, it wasn't exactly a lie either. She was fine, her ribs felt bruised and her leg was aching more than usual. But other than that she was fine. "But if that thing gets back up some how we're toast." She nodded at the nomu who was screeching.
"This isn't how it was supposed to go at all..." The villain scratched his neck. Looking over at her and Eraserhead with beady red eyes. His left arm was still shaking, but the bleeding was done thanks to his quirk.
Nova bit her lip.
"Never thought you'd be the peskiest of the bunch." He muttered again.
"No matter." Another voice said, a familiar one.
Novela spun around, the warpgate was back. Standing taller.
"I've taken care of thirteen." He informed Shigaraki. "But it appears that one of the students have escaped."
"No... Thirteen." Aizawa muttered. Gritting his teeth. He was shaking too in pain, his arm was no doubt burning in pain from Shigaraki's attack.
"Kurogiri you fool... If you weren't our warpgate... I'd tear apart every last atom in your body..." Shigaraki hissed, scratching his neck, he held his nub up to it too, as though he still had fingers to scratch it with on his left.
"You're injured." Kurogiri said simply. "Do you need medical assistance?"
Nova glanced away from them for a second, watching the Nomu. She watched as his flesh slowly began to morph. His arms were growing again.
"Mr Aizawa..." Nova whispered nervously.
"I see it." He whispered back. His eyes were on it and the growing stopped. But his eyes were still tired, he still had to blink. Almost every ten seconds his quirk was cut off. Every time he closed and opened his eyes, a little bit of the monster's flesh returned.
The good thing was the leaders didn't seem to be paying them much attention. Aizawa grabbed Nova's arm and started to back away, slowly. Hoping he wouldn't get their attention. They seemed to be... Giving up. Or possibly strategizing.
"Theres no way we can win if dozens of heroes show up..." Shigaraki suddenly stopped scratching. "It's game over... My hand hurts... Back to the title screen... And I was looking forward to finishing this today..."
He slumped like a pouting child. Aizawa and Nova were almost off the platform the fountain rested on. Almost in the clear. But Aizawa refused to turn his back on them, or stop watching the Nomu.
"Let's go home..." He whispered. Standing up a little straighter. Nova let out a small breath of relief.
Was it over?
"But before we leave... Let's make sure the symbol of peace is broken."
Nova's stomach turned and Shigaraki shifted, looking... Behind himself. Towards the water. Far away from her and Mr Aizawa.
"Let's make this hurt."
He was unbelievably fast.
"DAMN IT!" Aizawa yelled. He hadn't realized there were more students in the water. Midoriya, Tsuyu and Mineta had all been watching. But his attention had been on Nova and the Nomu. He didn't notice.
But Shigaraki did.
His hand reached out, Aizawa and Nova were too far to reach and protect Tsu as he went to touch her face with his remaining hand.
Struck with the sudden need to choose Aizawa looked away from the Nomu towards Shigaraki. As soon as he did the beast rapidly grew back his leg and arms. Free to use his regeneration quirk.
"Wrong choice." Shigaraki whispered. Staring down the students in the water as he spoke to Aizawa.
The Nomu bolted across the pavilion and tackled Aizawa. Nova screamed and pulled out her sword. Only for the warp gate to appear infront of her. Between her and Aizawa. She flinched back with wide eyes.
"LET HER GO!!! NOW!" Midoriya yelled at the same time. Jumping up with his fist pulled back right as Aizawa was forced to look away from Shigaraki. The Nomu beating his face against the concrete. "SMASH!"
Nova flinched and so did the warp gate. Turning quickly to watch and try to save his 'master'. But Nova shifted the shape of her sword and used it to bind him again. Just as she did previously when it was his armor.
A shockwave shook the area. Nova flew back and rolled across the ground. Keeping Kurogiri in her grip.
She looked up towards the water, that now formed big waves rushing away from the hit. There was so much power... No wonder it broke Midoriya's arm to use his quirk. That villain must be... Dead, or at least KOed after a hit like that...
Right?
Nova looked up and saw a black figure.
The Nomu, in place of Shigaraki. Midoriya's hand was connected to it's stomach. But it didn't seem to much much damage this time.
Neither did the villains.
Nova looked over, if the Nomu was there... Then it must've left Mr Aizawa behind. She saw him on the ground, trying to sit up. His face was bloody and possibly broken. So we're his arms. Nova flinched for him, knowing he must be in extreme pain.
But she couldn't let go of Kurogiri. Last time she stopped paying attention he got away.
"You're pretty powerful... Are you one of All Might's own disciples?" Shigaraki asked Midoriya. Protected by the Nomu.
Midoriya didn't respond, obviously shocked by the Nomu suddenly appearing infront of him.
"Doesn't matter... I'm done with you now." Shigaraki whispered. The Nomu snatched his hand and lifted up one of it's own. Like he was about to squish a bug.
Tsu jumped away from Shigaraki and leaped towards Midoriya, hoping to reach him in time to save him. Meanwhile Nova was forced to hold Kurogiri against the ground to stop the warpgate from somehow making everything worse.
She reached out her free hand, hoping she'd be able to find enough metal on Midoriya's person to pull him towards herself, like she did with Kurogiri. But there wasn't much other than his belt. She pulled it anyways, snatching him towards herself by his waist.
He was pulled a few feet away, surprisingly out of the nomus grip. Who was now just holding his jacket instead.
"Ah!" He exclaimed in shock as he was dragged over the concrete towards Nova.
Suddenly there was a loud crash and everyone looked towards the door. A cloud of dust was building.
Everyone hesitated, even the villains. Searching the cloud.
"Please..." Nova whispered. Though she wasn't quite sure what she was pleading for yet.
"Have no fear students..."
Nova for the first time ever, was revealed to hear those next words.
"I AM HERE."
