Epilogue.
Arjun ~
It had been about eight months since we remarried, eight months of nothing but love and coming closer to Siya also helped me coming closer to everyone else around me, including myself.
As promised, Samarth along with Preeti and Jahanavi toured across the state with Siya and I where we met the people, listened to their concerns, and worked tirelessly to address the shortcomings of my administration and it was just last night that we have been finally home after this month long work trip.
Naturally, Varun was glued to her at this moment as she was teaching him some brush strokes.
"Badi Maa, is this how I hold the brush?" he asked, his eyes wide with curiosity and admiration.
"That's exactly right, Champ," she replied, her voice gentle and encouraging. "Now, tilt your wrist this way to..." She continued, her eyes sparkling with warmth and pride.
"You're doing great, Varun," she said softly. "Art is all about expressing yourself, so don't be afraid to make a mess sometimes." Her words were what broke me out of my trance and I allowed myself to smile.
"It was a right decision, bhai. Letting Preeti and me adopt Varun." I heard Samarth's voice which made me turn around to find him and Preeti looking at those two with a smile too.
"Yes bhai and I am so glad that Siya understood because he will grow up someday and when he finds out the dynamics of some messed relationships, it will be hard on him." Preeti sighed and I agreed.
"Mom?" Varun called out for Preeti and came out running. So did Siya.
"What are you guys doing here chilling without us?" My wife pouted slightly and asked, keeping a hand on her waist. Varun imitated.
"Scheming against the two of you, my little cookie monster." Preeti tickled him before Samarth took him in his arms and the three of them left for the lawn where Jahanavi must have been waiting to play football.
So, Ranaji, where have you been all day?" Siya asked, her voice a soft melody as she stepped closer, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. Her touch was warm, and the gentle nudge of her nose against mine sent a shiver down my spine.
I pulled her into my arms my hand snaking around her waist, drawing her even closer. The scent of her hair, the softness of her skin—it was intoxicating, just like she always is. I gazed into her eyes, seeing a world of love and longing reflected back at me.
I was just about to answer her question when she spoke up again.
"By the way, I have something for you. Come with me." She took a step back, then grasped my hand, gently yet firmly pulling me toward the bedroom.
"Little Flower, if you want me to make..." I began, a teasing smile playing on my lips. But she turned around with a playful glare, pressing her index finger against my lips.
"Shhh Arjun! Why must you always have your mind in the gutter?" Rolling her eyes, she asked before getting me to stand in front of a canvas, covered with a piece of cloth.
I watched as she took a deep breath, her eyes dancing with excitement. "Close your eyes," she instructed softly. I obeyed.
A moment later, I heard the soft rustle of the cloth being removed. "Okay, you can open them now," she whispered.
As I opened my eyes, I was greeted by a breathtaking painting. It was a portrait of us, sitting on the throne from the day of her coronation.
"Siya..." I couldn't take my eyes off that canvas.
"I set your portrait on fire that day in front of Vani, not because I was mad at you. Well, partly, yes, I was mad at you. But mostly, I was angry at myself and at her. That day, I promised myself I would only paint your portrait again when I truly understood who Arjun Singh Rajvanshi is, and who Siya Arjun Singh Rajvanshi is. What I discovered was that they are incomplete without each other. Now that I know this, how could I not fulfill that promise?" She spoke softly, clutching my bicep and resting her head against it, her eyes fixed on the canvas along with mine.
Her words wrapped around my heart, their warmth seeping into my very soul. I turned to look at her, while she still looked at the canvas.
I love you, Siya," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. She lifted her head and met my gaze, her eyes sparkling.
"And I love you, Arjun," she replied, her voice as soft as it could get.
"Let's get going now. I am so hungry!" She said.
"Go on. I want to admire this a little longer. I have no words left with me to tell you because they will do no justice to this and yet you made it seem look so effortless." Was all I had left to say.
The whole of our family had dinner twice a month together as a tradition, today was one of those days she hadn't met her parents for a month and I wasn't going to be the one to hold her back any longer.
"Arjun, did you like it?" She turned back to look at me when she was almost out of the door, her eyes shimmering with anticipation.
"Love, it's more beautiful than I could have ever imagined," I murmured, my voice filled with awe and admiration.
Her smile widened, illuminating the room "I'm so glad you like it." She said before walking herself out.

"Arjun, I know that you are planning to take the kids out for ice-cream later with Samarth. Now do you know if I don't get my favourite Coffee mocha once you are back, what exactly it is that can happen with you?" My little kitten threatened me once the lunch was over and everyone had just left back for their respective jobs.
"You will not let me sleep on the bed with you?" I guessed, indulging in her banter.
"No, I will not let you enter the palace." She replied, shrugging before giving her hair a flick and shooing me away.
"Ji Manaraanisa jaisa aapka hukum." I bowed before her and she laughed before I left.
"Ranaji, don't forget!" I paused, turning back to find Siya rushing towards me with a playful glint in her eyes. Her laughter echoed through the hallway.
"Of course not, Little Flower," I replied, my voice soft with affection. "Your favorite Coffee mocha will be waiting for you when we return."
As she reached me, she stood on tiptoe, pressing a soft kiss to my cheek. The touch of her lips against my skin sent a jolt of electricity coursing through me and I reached out, gently brushing my fingertips against her cheek, savouring the warmth of her skin beneath my touch.
"Go, the kids and Samarth bhai must be waiting." She sighed before hopping back to the room, leaving me to chuckle at her.
"Bade Papa." Varun called out for me as I looked at him.
"Yes, Champ?" I replied, taking his little hand in mine.
"Can we go for ice cream now?" he asked, his eyes wide with anticipation.
"Absolutely." I said, ruffling his hair affectionately. He might be Amar and Vani's blood but he will never be their son. He deserves better.
"Badi Mumma also wants her....." He started.
"Coffee mocha." Him and I finished the sentence together. So my queen had also instructed her little minions in case I forget?
Has she not realised yet that there isn't one thing that I'll ever be able to forget which is about her?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Returning with her coffee mocha only to find her tucked in a little corner in her library, I could hardly take my eyes off my wife. She was reading Wuthering Heights for the twentieth time perhaps. I couldn't help but lean against the doorway and allow myself to simply admire her, the way her hair cascaded in soft waves around her shoulders, the curve of her lips as she read, and the furrow of her brow as she became engrossed in the story.
"She is more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, hers and mine are the same." I couldn't help but recall that one line which stuck to me whenever I look at Siya.
"Do I smell coffee?" Her voice grabbed my attention while her eyes were still glued to the book.
I chuckled softly at her ability to hold conversations with herself, a trait that never failed to amuse me. "You're imagining smells, Siya. Arjun will be here soon."
"He better not forget, I am going to kill him," she remarked, her eyes still glued to the pages of her book.
"You won't have to resort to taking my life, Little Flower. Here's your coffee ice cream." I said, walking in and she kept her book aside, of course after placing her phone as a bookmark before getting up.
"See! I can smell coffee, even if it's in the form of ice cream." She shrugged in pride and extended her hand towards mine, her eyes gleaming.
"What am I getting for giving this to you?" I ask her, taking the packet away from her reach.
"Nothing. Now give it to me Arjun because if it melts, I am going to have to wait more while it goes into the refrigerator. Please!" Tiptoeing in an attempt to snatch it away from my hands, I took it away again.
With a playful smile dancing on her lips, she tilted her head, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Come on, Ranaji, don't be so cruel. You know how much I love coffee ice cream."
I couldn't resist her. With a soft chuckle, I relented, handing her the packet. She took it eagerly after which I was ruthlessly ignored for the rest of the time.
"So so so good." She sang.
"I also have one more thing for you Siya." I failed to stop myself till she was done eating and just like that, her attention was back on me, looking curious.

Siya ~
"What do have?" I asked. His gifts are too grand but how could I complain? He is literally the King.
"You'll have to come with me for that." He folded his arms in front of chest and leaned at the wall with a playful look in his eyes.
"Where?" I shot back, narrowing my eyes at him suspiciously.
"Just out to the fountain lawn," he replied casually, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
I tried to peer around him, eager for a glimpse of outside, but he moved with me, blocking my view with a playful smirk. "Arjun," I warned, a mixture of frustration and affection in my tone.
Once more, I attempted to catch a glimpse, but he effortlessly countered my efforts with a teasing laugh. "Arjun," I protested with a laugh, the tension melting into amusement as looking at his smile, pure-childlike.
"Arjun." I warned, glaring at him this time.
"Yes Siya?" He questioned with the same playfulness.
"Let me look!" I whined.
"You'll have to come out for that." He simply said and I rolled my eyes.
"Will you ever stop teasing me?" I sighed in response, finishing the last bite of the ice-cream.
"No." Was his one word reply and I gave up.
"Fine! Let's go." He reached for me then, his fingers intertwining with mine. As we walked, a comfortable silence settled between us, broken only by the soft brush of his thumb against my skin.
We hardly had to walk about twenty steps and I saw a huge thing all covered with a cloth.
"What did you do this time? Ranaji why do you have to be so extravagant about everything! I would have been happier had you gotten me some jhumkis instead of this huge thing!
He laughed, he really laughed while I was scolding him.
"What is wrong with you Arjun?" I was literally astonished.
"Go and look at it first, love because you scold me." He said, his eyes still twinkling.
"You're impossible." I said and with a deep breath, I whipped the fabric off, and a gasp escaped my lips.
There, bathed in the warm sunlight, stood a sight that threatened to melt my heart into a puddle. It wasn't a grand carriage overflowing with gemstones, nor a dazzling display of wealth. It was a simple pull-cart, the kind used by street vendors. The cart overflowed with jhumkis, each pair more exquisite than the last.
"Jh...jhumkis?" I breathed, "A cart full of them?" I asked and then looked at him to seek confirmation which he gave me laughing while nodding his head.
"Do you have any idea what this means to me? I have always had this dream of owning a jhumki cart but then you made me your queen." I have no idea what on earth was I saying because this was honestly the best thing he had ever given me!
"How can you always be so romantic?" I asked running and throwing myself at him. He took hold of me like he always does.
"Little Flower, the portrait that you have made of us is what was romantic. This is just a means through which I aim to keep you happy." He replied and I chuckled.
"But it's your headache now because I am never going to ever be on time now." I shrugged.
"Guess I'll have to get used to waiting then, and be more patient." He said, agreeing.
"I think you've always been extraordinarily good at both," I teased, my fingers tracing the planes of his face, memorizing every curve and line.
He leaned in then, his eyes soft with a love that had weathered every storm. Our lips met in a kiss that spoke of a thousand shared sunrises, countless whispered secrets, and a lifetime of promises. The world around us faded away into the only reality of the press of his lips against mine and the frantic rhythm of our hearts.
In that moment, bathed in love and the golden light of the setting sun, I knew. I knew that this was our happily ever after. Always and Forever.
