29. FIRE AND FIGHT.

Siya ~

Coming back to my bedroom and finding that annoying sorry of a woman Vani trying to find something in my room was something that did not sit well with me.

" What do you think you're doing? Vani if you haven't been taught this yet, let me educate you. Going inside someone's bedroom in their absence so late at night is borderline psycho and a tad bit criminal." I announced my presence and she immediately turned around with an evil smirk on her lips.

" Enlighten me here Siya, do you not keep Arjun's bed warm enough that he has to spend his nights at work? It that a lesson you need help with? You know I can gladly offer you some insight about what he does and does not like...." She had started to speak such lowly words that for a split second, I did not realise what she was implying but when I did, I stalked towards her, gripping her wrist tightly in my hand, dragging her out.

" Finish that sentence and live to regret all your life Vani. I can and will make your life an absolute nightmare if I wish to and too bad for you, I do. Now get the fuck out before I forget that you are somehow still a family member in name." I warned her, yanking her outside the room in absolute rage. I could feel my blood boiling at her words and I had to control myself as to not create a scene as of now.

" Siya, you should know this. The portrait that you have made of Arjun lacks one thing. Just one. If you haven't observed it yet, he has a flicker of emerald in there, just s tiny bit. You really would have to see into those eyes to know that. This is how I know that Arjun hasn't even touched you once, let alone make you his wife in the truest of senses." She laughed, mocking me and gave me a look under which I found myself folding.

I had nothing to say. What could I potentially say anyway? I had never allowed him to let him come near me.

" It is astonishing to see how time has done so little to improve your character Vani. I feel sorry for Amar as much as I hate him for taking birth through me. Leave my daughter alone before I change my mind and throw Amar and you out at this moment." Mom's voice rang into my ears and I raised my eyes to look at her.

" Mom...." Vani started to speak but was cut off again.

" It is Badi Raani for you and Siya is your Raanisa. One more time you insult your queen and you will be prosecuted in an according her Ranaji finds fit and even your husband will not be able to save you front Arjun's wrath. Take this an a warning if not an advice." Mom finished and Vani tucked her tail between her legs before walking away.

" Siya beta what happened to you? I don't know what she told you but you make Arjun happy and honestly, you are the reason he is slowly resorting to living rather than just breathing. Never doubt yourself for one second." Mom said, pulling me in for a hug and I allowed myself to relax in her embrace.

" Thank you mom." I whispered as she lovingly stoked my hair.

" Thank you beta. Thank you for being you." She replied as I distanced myself a bit. She ran her fingers in my tangled hair, undoing the knots in my hair before asking me to go to bed without wasting a second more. I obeyed, shutting the door behind me and reached out to Arjun's portrait, running the tip of my fingers on the canvas, feeling all the oil pastels smoothening under my touch.

" That witch has really, really reduced the sanctity of this painting. I am going to make this again but it has to go." I muttered to myself before getting a matchbox and setting the painting on fire as I saw Arjun burn in front of my eyes.

But this was a symbol. A symbol of me burning all the bitterness I have for him for marrying me the way he did and starting over. He did what he did and I couldn't change it but he also gave me space and time and reason to accept this marriage, to accept him as my husband. He might have forced me into this but he never coerced me into a physical relationship. Never forced his hand as my husband as my Ranaji. He gave me all the respect in this world and all my wishes became his command, literally.

He married me without my consent but whatever he did after that, was nothing short of gentlemanly.

Life is never white and black, it never can be. Grey is where every human operates and Arjun's grey had become my reality now and I was going to do what it takes to make sure that the white in his grey does not get tainted to a black because of Vani and I was going to do exactly that because it was my duty as his wife and Queen.

The door to the bedroom opened and in walked Arjun and the moment he saw the canvas on fire, he ran swiftly to me, scooping me in his arms and walked out.

" Have you lost your mind Siya? What were you doing standing so close to fire?" He shouted, shaking my shoulders as I saw fear for the first time in Arjun Singh Rajvanshi's eyes tonight before he pulled me in for a hug, leaving no space for air between us as I heard his chest beating so fast and it might explode.

I placed my hand right onto his racing heart in an attempt to calm him down and magically, it started to work. I then tiptoed on my feet to kiss the top of his forehead as I held onto his hands.

" Little one, we have been married for seven months now. I was under the illusion until today that even if it was happening slowly, you were taking baby steps ahead to accept me and give me a chance but perhaps I was wrong. I know that I have hurt you in so many ways but tonight, in your anger towards me that you set my portrait on fire, I fail to find it within myself anymore power to hold you back because I will die if any harm comes to you because of me." I saw him fighting his emotions and just like that, a lone tear escaped my left eye.

" I did not set your portrait on fire because I am mad at you Ranaji. I was mad at Vani. I am going to do it again when I have known and felt everything there is to know and feel about you so that no one questions this relationship anymore. I worship my art and nothing less will do." I confessed in all honesty in front of him as his thumb brushed off the tear away from my cheek.

" I am going to take you away for a few days. Away from the Palace and the problems. We leave tomorrow." He declared, wrapping his hand around my waist and lifting me up once again in his arms, walking inside the room. The fire was all burnt out and the ashes were all that remained.

" No Arjun. We just got back from Jaipur. We cannot leave like this. I am not scared to face Vani and I know that you aren't either. We are not running away like this, leaving the family alone in their presence." I announced, leaving no room for any argument whatsoever and he sighed.

" Are you sure, Little Flower?" He asked, placing me on the bed and I gave him a nod which he returned.

" Go to sleep Siya, today was a long day for you." He said, kissing the side of my forehead and my hair but before he could withdraw himself away, I held his hand into mine.

" I trust you Arjun, this bed is yours as much as it is mine." I told him, sitting up again as he took a spot in front of me.

" I hope you know what you are doing, Little Flower because I am already standing at a point where parting from you will end me but one inch closer and parting will no longer be an option for you." He was so clear with his words that I almost blushed from his words.

" Arjun I know for a fact that you were never going to let me go anyway. I have known that for a very long time and I think you do too. The only difference between earlier and now is that now, I don't want you to let me go either. I trust you. I still need sometime and some space but I want that with you next to me. Can you do that for me?" I asked, keeping his hand in mine and baring my soul to him.

" You are my wife Siya. This is the least I can do for you." He replied and awarded me with one of his rare smiles which indeed was contagious as I found it returning!

That is how I found him lying down next to me. We had an arm's distance between the two of us but I felt safe and comfortable and happy with him next to me and I surrendered myself to sleep.

Arjun ~

Siya was mature far ahead of her age and she proves it time and again but she had been neglecting her college a little too much in these past two weeks and I was at fault here. Apart from everything, her education was my responsibility and I was the reason she had been so distracted lately.

Not anymore.

"Good morning, Little Flower. It is time to wake up." I said, bringing my hand upto her cheek and pushing her hair locks away to the back and allowed the back of my hand to lazily lie on her cheek.

Siya stirred in her sleep, pulling the blanket up to her face in annoyance and I couldn't let my chuckle stop. She was adorable.

" Rise and shine, sleepyhead." I tried to shake her up.

" Let me sleep Arjun." She grunted and pushed my hand away, turning to face the other side.

" You are getting late for your college Siya. Come on." I gently turned her to face me again and this time, begrudgingly, she opened her eyes, blinking furiously a couple of times before focusing her eyes at me.

" You are not supposed to wake me up Ranaji. I am really really sleepy. I am not going to college today. Let me sleep. I am not ready to face the real world yet." She replied, shutting her eyes closed again.

" Little One, I know it is a lot to deal with but you cannot be missing college like this. Come on, wake up." I said, getting up from the bed myself and walking to the other side, sitting at the corner of the bedpost, trying to get her to go.

" I don't want to go Arjun. I will not go. I am in no mood to be explaining to people about this whole me being the queen fiasco, alright. Now go away." She covered her face with another pillow and I snatched it away from her.

This finally made her throw her eyes open and sit up straight as she looked at me with narrowed eyes.

" I don't think I have given you any power over me to make these decisions for me. I will not go to the college and that's final. I don't care what you want Ranaji. I care about what I want." She spat, anger laced in her voice as she stood on her feet and tried to get away but I held her by her waist, stopping her from leaving.

" Siya you are going to college, no matter what." I did not enjoy doing this but it had to be done regardless.

" Arjun stop trying to send me to college today. I will not." She announced like a petulant child, stomping her feet, trying to get away from my hold.

" You will, Siya. You have been missing onto it for a long time." I sighed, trying to deal with this in the best manner possible. but she refused to look at any logical sense of things.

"  So what? It doesn't matter. I don't give a damn." She managed to free her hand and jerked away from me, trying to get out of the bedroom for the second time.

" I want you to go to the college regularly from today, Siya. No excuses." I said.

" Screw you Arjun. Sure, if that is you command me to do, Ranaji, I will go." She screamed at me before shutting the restroom door into my face, leaving me alone.

The room was filled with tension as Siya moved about, getting ready for her day at college. I watched her with a mixture of admiration and regret, my heart heavy with the weight of her anger hiding behind the pretext of reading the newspaper as she looked ethereal.

Siya's Look ~

I had made a decision that had upset her, and now it was on me to bridge the gap that I had just dug deeper between us.

Her movements were brisk and purposeful, avoiding to make any eye contact with me while all I wanted was for her to give me one last look before leaving.

I stood up and picked her bag from the bedside table to hand it to her but as she spared me the look, Siya's anger intensified, her frustration boiling over as she pulled her hand away from my grasp. Her eyes blazed with a mixture of hurt and indignation, her voice sharp and laced with resentment.

" Thank you, Ranaji."

She spat icily before she disappeared through the hallway in sheer rage, leaving me alone in the bedroom. I held myself back from following her, being completely aware that I will only add to her anger.

Just last night she had asked me to be at her side and that was exactly what I was doing and had planned on to do continuously even if it meant that some of my decisions taken for her benefit might not appease her in the least.

" Forgive me Siya. I know that today is going to be difficult for you but I am also aware that no one in their right mind will try to interrogate their Queen, my Raanisa."

I pinched the gap between my eyes before getting ready for the day.

Siya ~

I hate Arjun.

I hate Ranaji.

I hate my husband.

I had no intention to go to college and yet, here I was walking through it's corridor and everybody around was bowing in cutesy. No one asked me anything, not did they find any humour in my life.

It was a question free zone. Even the professors did not drag any attention towards me and honestly and in totality, I was flabbergasted.

" I had expected all the questions, taunts and teasings in the world but not this and I was extremely relieved.

I finished with my classes and by afternoon, I returned back home, leaving a sigh I didn't know that I was holding.

As I was on my way to the bedroom, I saw Janu and Kritik playing in the lawn. I dropped my bag and rushed to the two of them, begging them to include me because I was extremely bored.

" Okay bui! You count till 30 and we will hide." Kritik agreed and Janu nodded.

" Okay done!" I replied and covered my eyes with my hands and begun counting till 30 and as I was done, I started to look around for the kids.

I spent the rest of the afternoon and the whole evening like this playing with the kids and honestly, this was so so refreshing but then Preeti Bhabhi called the kids for snacks and we stopped.

I was just about to go to the Queen's Courtyard because I was in no mood to talk to Ranaji when I heard his deep voice call out my name, stopping me in my tracks.

" What?" I asked without turning back to face him.

" I won't be spared a single look today?" He asked and I rolled my eyes, walking ahead instead of answering but his long strides were quick enough to catch up with my steps.

" How was your day, Little one?" He spun me around by my arm which made me look directly into his eyes and I found myself drowning in them as I allowed myself to take a step near him.

" Couldn't resist him now, could you?" I heard my conscience snicker and I immediately pulled away.

" Why do you care about my day? You got what you wanted. I went to college. Now how my day does is none of your business Arjun. If you can't care about what I want, I don't care about what you think either." I spoke up, not faltering.

" I have told you this earlier, Little Flower. Everything about you is my business. What makes you think that I don't care about what you want? I do. But I care more about what you need and you needed to go out today and face the world. You aren't weak to hide and we both know it." His words found a way to melt me as he gave me another of his smiles and bent down to pick my bag.

" No one asked or made fun of me about what has happened Arjun. Not a soul and I know that this has happened because of you." I couldn't resist myself from telling him.

" Siya....." He started but I cut his words off.

" Thank you for ensuring that Arjun. I don't think I could have dealt with everything on my own." I told him the truth and he took my hand in his.

" Let's get you some food now." He chose not to respond to my words but I knew that my emotions had reached him and this was enough.

For now.

He Guys. I'm back!

This chapter has been written with a lot of mixed thoughts and lack of sleep....so yeah I apologise if you didn't enjoy it.

This really marks the almost end of Siya's daily anger towards Arjun so anyone who feels that she has been fighting a lot have a good news, from now, they will fight a little less lol.
