"This... This can't be happening... He'll get up again right?" Monoma whispered. His laugh was now completely gone.
He had always viewed Bakugou as a rival. As an enemy... Someone to beat. Someone to be better than.
But now here he was. Staring at his body.
Kira sobbed, on her knees. Everyone stared in shock at the boys body, those outside didn't know how bad it was... The only reason they knew that something was horribly wrong, was by his unflinching body.
And Kira's sobs.
She was kneeling, all but wailing with no shame. She couldn't feel shame. Her cries were the background music to the battle ground. Jeanest left the fight, kneeling over Bakugou, doing everything he could. But what could be done? There was no heartbeat.
No....
Kira looked down, staring at the metal platform she was sitting on. Still sobbing, her tears landed on the surface. Reflecting the red light from her eyes...
The red light from her eyes.
Kira paused. Her eyes were still glowing... As though she still had a connection going. But... But Bakugou was dead right? Wouldn't that deactivate blood rush? Or maybe she'd stay this way until his blood passed...
No...
She remembered Zane. When Kira tried to connect with his mind using his blood... It didn't work. Even after consuming it bloodrush didn't trigger... Her eyes didn't glow.
But no he couldn't be alive. His heart stopped. But... But it's not uncommon for a brain to continue activity, for at least a few minutes after a heart fully stopped. It didn't function completely. There normally weren't any conscious thoughts but... People sometimes survived after their heart stopped... If someone managed to keep their blood circulating until the heart was fixed.
Kira closed her eyes tightly. Searching through her mind. Searching for something from him. Even if it was just a hum... Just an ember... A small spark of life... Anything to give her hope.
She found it... A tiny hum... Like Denki's mind except it was so faint... Kira thought she might be imagining it.
He wasn't completely dead... Not yet. Kira knew it... He wasn't soulless. If someone worked quickly... Maybe they could recessitate him... But how? In the middle of this battlefield?
All the pros had their hands full keeping Shigaraki at bay. Jeanest was over Bakugou now, but he couldn't give his full attention. The big three were down. Kira didn't know where Mirko was. Shigaraki was building his form back up, the only trace of Bakugou's attack was the giant burn marks over the right side of his face.
The only hit that had actually damaged him.
The rest just bounced off. Physical beating did nothing to him. The only thing that got close to destroying him was heat. They had to burn away his flesh... Not simply hit him. The only quirk that could damage him was...
Kira slowly looked up. Her tears had stopped. She wasn't sobbing anymore. Aizawa and Monoma next to her were still completely shocked and distraught. But it almost looked like Kira had... Gotten over it.
She hadn't... And she never would. She felt immense pain and sorrow. But...
All her life Kira had the burden of carrying pain. Kira felt everyone's emotions. She had gone through trauma of her own. And felt the ripples of trauma from many others.
Kira felt pain and fear and anger and sorrow... But she had a talent for baring it.
When other's let it consume them. When other's had their logic clouded by their emotions and pain... Kira could... Think clearly.
She stood up.
"I... I have a plan." She whispered softly.
"Kira no." Aizawa argued. Immediately, without hearing her out. He was still looking at Bakugou. His gaze never waivered as he stared. He was horrified. Completely destroyed. He was his student... His student. A child he was in charge of. A child he had sent to war.
While he sat on the sidelines watching. Aizawa saw his friend in Bakugou. Oboro. Dead. Then turned into a monster. A Nomu. It was all happening again. A child dead. Aizawa had helped the boy, guided his determination. Watched him grow as a person and overcome his faults. Charging towards a dream to be a hero only to end up beaten and dead in the dirt. Fighting a battle that was too big for kids.
Because Aizawa put him there.
Kira was baring his pain too. Everyone's on top of her own.
"It's not your fault..." Kira whispered. She stumbled a bit but clinched her fists. She scanned the Island across from her. The coffin in the sky, the words now had a sick twist. Almost like they had done this to themselves, thinking so highly of the arena only to be the ones slaughtered inside. They built their own tomb... Bakugou's tomb...
No.
No they still had to fight.
"...Keep your eyes on him." She whispered.
"Kira please." Aizawa said again, focusing his eyes on Shigaraki. "You can't go. Please Kira not you too. I can't watch another student die."
Kira now understand how Bakugou must've felt just a minute ago. When Kira begged him to sit this out.
She couldn't do nothing. Not when Bakugou gave everything. She had to join the fight and give it her all. Even if that meant dying.
"It's time for me to do my part... They're going to need support now that Katsuki..." Kira stopped, a tear running down her cheek. "They're down a man. Someone needs to replace him."
"Kira-"
"I'm sorry." Kira whispered. Heat rippled down her arms and her hands. She was sweating more than usual, letting it collect in her palm just like he did.
Explosion.
Bakugou's quirk. Ever since Monoma gave her his blood her quirk had taken a new form. After touching a person she could use their quirk for less than a minute...
But after consuming their blood... Kira could use their quirk as long as it was in her system. Blood rush... Had evolved.
"But it's my turn."
An explosion went off and Kira flew towards the bottom of the island. She had only messed around with Bakugou's quirk once or twice. They hadn't had much time to goof around and train before the war started. But now her mind was clouded with terrified determination.
She couldn't just fly in. There was a forcefield around the school that would probably kill Kira if she made contact with it. She had to come in from underneath. Where the support course was working.
She blasted through a thin panel. Entering through the side. She blew past a few shocked students.
"AN ATTACKER?!"
"BAKUGOU?!"
"CLOSE UP THAT HOLE!!!"
Kira traveled to the main area. Blasting past Momo as she generated more materials. "LET ME IN!" Kira yelled. Hatsume looked up from her control panels.
"Eh? Who are you-"
"Kira?!" Momo asked in confusion. "What's going on out there?!"
"They need more support!! FUCKING LET ME IN!!!" Kira yelled, blasting up. Preparing to destroy the ceiling to get in.
"Alrighty! Panel two A and three A drop!" Mei Hatsume said with a smile. Opening up a hole in the ground of the arena.
"WAIT HOW ARE YOU-"
Kira didn't listen to Momo's questions. Just breezing past them all and coming up into the arena. Suddenly she was on the battlefield. Shigaraki rising up infront of her, his back to her. Though he obviously heard the explosions.
He turned slowly as Kira blasted straight towards him.
"SURPRISE COUSIN!!!!!" Kira yelled. Blasting forward using Bakugou's quirk. It definitely was surprising.
"NOWS YOUR CHANCE TO KILL ME!!!"
A/n: y'all didn't really think she was just gonna sit on her ass during the coolest Arc did you?!
